Nice
Excellent course for a $22 price including cart! I played Congressional a few weeks ago and it was, of course, in a different league but cost $225. So 11 rounds at Wedgewood for the same price. Wide open for the most part, so great for all level of players. A pro would shoot in the 50's :-)
Makes us reconsider playing there
Upon arriving, we noticed on the 18th hole. There is a group of six players when we got there an hour before our teatime the course was very busy and yes, there was a starter present but it should under no circumstances take 4 1/2 hours to get around 18 holes. There was multiple groups of five golfers who were holding up the entire course would not allow anybody to play through as per Golf etiquette. This is not the first time that we run into this issue at this course having a starter is great but having no course management is the bigger problem.
Tarheel
I’ll play this course many many times over many years and it never disappoints.
One of the best Municipal coarses.
Overseeded; looks super. Coarse is in great shape and a terrific value for the $.
Great course for the money.
Great course for the money. Tee boxes and fairways were in tip-top shape, but greens were a slow and bumpy. Overall really enjoyable, and will definitely be back. But, don’t come expecting fast, slick greens. 🤷🏻♂️
Amazing conditions for the price and a late Nov tee time.
Played on the way out of town towards Myrtle Beach and was amazed how it all went.
Got to the course over an hour early for a 10:20 TT and was able to go out about 20 mins later once the early locals all went out.
Pretty straightforward course with flat and wide fairways but the tee boxes and fairways wouldn’t be out of place at a course costing 4 times as much.
I can’t remember the last time I hadn’t used a tee on a par 3 but didn’t need one here all day as the grass was easily a half inch everywhere.
As for complexity there are some unique holes that keep you thinking but you could easily walk/ride 36+ holes here and not leave feeling beaten up.
Awesome
As a recently retired individual i have been blessed to play courses across the country this last year. I can say with no hesitation that this is the best municipal course value by far. If you didn't know it was a municipal you could never tell it is. Going back as soon as I can before heading to the great northwest in a week or two!
Pleasant Surprise
We didn't know what to expect since it is a public municipal golf course, but were pleasantly surprised to find a very nice layout that was in excellent condition. Our only gripe was a very slow FIVESOME ahead of us. WHY would course management allow a fivesome to hold up play?
The layout was very good, with a nice mixture of holes of varying length and design. There were enough elevation changes to keep things interesting. Course conditions were excellent -- flat tees, healthy fairways, groomed bunkers, smooth greens. Friendly staff. All good. Just get rid of fivesomes and slow players.
