Yadkin Country Club
About
Yadkin Country Club is a par-72 championship golf course that is one of the area's best kept secrets. It offers all the facets of Southern golf without the crowds. The Yadkin Valley stretches east from the Blue Ridge Mountains across the rolling hills of the North Carolina Piedmont. Like many golf courses in the area, Yadkin is routed up and down rolling terrain and through mature trees. The layout is challenging with an interesting mix of holes, none of which run parallel to each other. The par 3s are long and there are a few reachable par 5s. The par 4s will make you think, requiring thoughtful drives and approaches. Strategically placed bunkers and mounding lurk throughout and water hazards come into play on a few holes. Yadkin Country Club is a tough but fair layout that emphasizes strategy over strength.

Needs work.
Some of the tee boxes need work. Cart paths are in terrible shape, extremely rough.
Greens in great shape!
I’ve played here several times. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Greens were amazing. Fairways ok. Needed mowing but wasn’t too bad. As you’ll see from other reviews, worst thing about Yadkin CC is the cart paths. Not sure why they don’t use a skid steer and put down some gravel on the rough areas to smooth them out. Other than that, this is a great course to play. Would recommend to friends. Just be prepared to put your golf cart in 4x4 to get from hole to hole.
So much potential
More dead areas than grass unless you’re in a shaded area then the grass is so thick you can’t see your ball. The cart path is somewhat a goat trail one would find in the Grand Canyon. There’s place for a bar and food but all they serve is snacks.
It seems the money that comes in keeps the course mowed but that’s it. In three years there’s been zero improvements.
The people are over the top friendly and the layout isn’t bad but course conditions suffer. With a little funding to where they could upgrade the course it would make for a good $40-45 round vs the $25-$30 round they currently charge
$25 round at its worse
Let me begin by saying that anytime you pay $25 for round of golf with a cart there shouldn’t be a lot of room for complaining. It’s important to remember that you get what you pay for.
With that said, this course didn’t even meet the lowest expectations for a $25 round. I made the comment to my playing partners that I would not be surprised to learn that the course was constructed 50 years ago and was maybe quite nice at that time. However, since then the only things to have been marginally maintained are the tee boxes and greens. Everything else in between seems to have been untouched except for the obligatory mowing. The cart paths were substantially worse than many of the potholed roads I’ve traveled on in developing countries.
It’s rather interesting that this course uses the term country club in its name, because it doesn’t even reach the level of the many municipal courses I’ve played on. Although I’m sure that if I lived locally I’d be grateful for having any kind of access to golf.
I will say that the two staff members I encountered were very southern hospitality friendly.
Was a gem at one time
The lady at the counter was very nice and explained why the course had declined over the years
Clubhouse was old but neat and stocked
Tee boxes were marked well and tee area wasn’t to bad
Cart paths are very bad and need major repair
Fairways were decent, With the type of grass I would imagine they would be better once the temperature rises
Sard traps were Red Clay traps and haven’t been groomed for a long time
Greens were 6 out of 10 rating with some better than others.
Several areas in fairways and rough were missing grass Had to take relief in several areas
The course was closed and I never got my money back
Scheduled a tee time and the course was closed when we got there. Immediately called golf now and never had my money returned… this is rediculous
YCC is a good value
Have played this course many times and for the price it is a good value, the conditions fluctuate up and down, but overall the layout is challenging but not a long course. Greens are usually good, a few are in need of a replacement. Staff are friendly and getting a tee time is most times easy. Our group have this course in our regular rotation.
Yadkin is a bit rough
Course needs some tlc. It looks like it was a lot better in a previous life.
Great Value
This is a fun layout, nothing fancy but for the money it's not bad at all! The carts paths are pretty rough. Greens were in good shape.
Fun Course
Course was in good shape but the cart paths were very bad. Overall had a good time.
Improving
Fairways and greens are in good shape. Bunkers improved, cart paths rough.A really good layout, just needs a little TLC.
