Brigantine Golf Links
About
The public, 18-hole golf course at Brigantine Golf Links is not only beautiful scenery and a great game it is also a National Audubon Sanctuary. Its layout has roots in Scottish golfing tradition. The golf course utilizes the natural environment featuring a softly rolling terrain and marshes as well as gorgeous bay views.
Like traditional Scottish Links courses, Brigantine is marked by nearly tree-less greens and the type of shot to take often depends on the wind. There are powerful sea breezes that affect the shots and bunkers that make for an interesting game. The smooth, rolling greens encourage a bump-and-run strategy. The scenic course's location close to the Atlantic City boardwalk and the challenging, but fun game it offers make it popular among tourists and locals of all skill levels.

Swollen elbow from mosquito bites Photo submitted by khatchad on 08/19/2019
Nice course. Still in rough shape from Hurricane.
This would be a very nice course with a challenging and scenic layout, were it not for the conditions following the storm last year. It's clear that this place was hit pretty hard. It is playable, but no in the greatest condition on either fairways or tee boxes. Greens rolled nice and quick though. I would play again, but maybe next year to give it a chance to recover first.
Fun links course. Target golf
Nice course. Greens in good shape. Bring bug spray for the flies
Very helpful and extremely efficient even given the recent storms
I was very impressed with how the handled themselves and repaired the course as well as re-routed pathways after the recent storms. The GPS was great. The course is a true links course and varies in difficulty with each hole and wind conditions. Can't wait to play again!
Just Like Scotland
First this course some how survived the hurricane from last year and is back in shape. Recent rain has made a few of the traps small ponds. Old course and I was told similar contditions to coastal Scotland courses. The wind was mild but definately a Links course. Small mostly flat greens. Some tricky shots and you need to use the GPS provided. Bring mosquito spray. These guys willeat you alive. Good layout, like I said fairly flat course. I'd play it again. Would be nice to see it after a couple of weeks of no rain.
course was very wet and although we had a cart we had to walk most of the course.
The day we went there was a tournament ready to begin on the first hole, and we had to begin play on the 10th hole. There was considerable damage from Sandy and many areas of the course were being repaired. Having recently had a hip operation and this being the first day I was attempting to play 18 holes I was disapointed that the course was "cart Paths Only". It took a lot out of me to get through 18 holes because it required a lot of walking. This also slowed down play. It was not an enjoyable day.
Easy links style course
Played early morning with a cart and completed 18 in under 3 hours. Course was wet due to recent rains so cart path only. Very easy course to play. Greens were very slow. I enjoyed the course and would play again.
Kept like a park
Great for $30 on golf now. Nice layout but the conditions are very poor. The course needs a lot of attention. Much nicer courses to play in south jersey.
Poor condition. Go somewhere else.
The greens were ok but slow. The bunkers were fine. But, the "fairways" were really bad. Lots of bare spots, weeds growing up high at someplaces. I stay in Brigantine often on vacation but won't be playing there again (at any price).
This course should be bulldozed over
I pull into the parking lot with my brother and father and started unpacking our bags and immediately the guy moving the carts came over and took them and put them on the carts for us. We tell him that it was our first time there and he gladly helped us and answered all our questions. I went inside to check in and the guy behind the counter said we were good to go and directed me to the bathroom. We go out to the practice green for about 20 minutes to test out the speed. The green was in very nice condition.
We tee off at #1 get in the carts and start driving down the path. The GPS in the cart kicks on and I pull up to my ball which was in the "fairway" which consisted of mostly dirt and mud with patches of greenish-yellow and brown grass. We take our second shots and head for the "green". As we walk up we notice again that most of the grass was yellow and there are patches of dirt. It looked like all the grass was either dead or diseased. We hit our putts and the balls rolled forever. The ground was so dry and hard that the only thing that slowed the ball down was the clumps of dead grass and the spots where the ground had cracked.
We moved on to the next hole hoping that the first hole was just a fluke and that we would see the course that we saw online. Unfortunately our hopes were immediately crushed as we stepped on to the second tee box. Besides being almost complelty devoid of grass, the entire tee box was a big hill with it being almost impossible to find a flat surface. We tee off onto another mud and dirt filled fairway. My second shot was from around 40 yards so I hit a nice high, easy wedge and when the ball came down you could hear a loud thud and the ball actually bounced 2-3 in the air and continued to roll uphill off the green and onto the back.
This was the story for every hole that we played. Uneven tee boxes, grassless often muddy fairways, and dry, cracking, concrete like greens not to mention the flocks of seagulls in the fairways and all the mess the left behind. I even saw a few dead ones lying around the course. The plugs of dirt and grass they used to fill the old holes were uneven and had such big gaps around them you could reach down and just pull them out. I did however get a good chuckle every time I got back into my cart and looked at the little white sticker on the window that read "Please help keep our course in excellent condition, fix your ball marks and replace your divots." Your divots were mud and you couldn't leave a ball mark on those greens with an anvil.
There are houses running along almost every hole and sometimes you drive right in between two of them to get to the next hole. I didn't really mind the houses and to be honest except for maybe 3 or 4 holes they didn't even come into play unless you really let a shot get away from you. What I did mind was the constant barrage of single players that were allowed to tee off by themselves and would play right up behind us then skip to the next hole. If you want to play a 2 hour round of golf don't come out on a Sunday mid afternoon.
All in all besides from the staff, GPS in the cart, and the practice greens, this place is a complete disgrace to the sport of golf. And to make matters worse they have the audacity to charge $70 a round. Luckily we were able to play for a discounted price or I would have went in and asked for my money back plus the gas and tolls I wasted driving an hour both ways. I have played on some bad courses but this by far was the worst. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money and stay as far away from this place as you can.
Terrible condition
This courses greens and fairways are in terrible shape and I'm sure they will only get worse as the summer approaches
Would not go back
I read the pass reviews 2hr before the morning we played on how bad the course was , hoping they were not as bad , but they were as bad as they said.
terrible conditions ducks in the sandtraps,
I could not believe the course was in this bad of shape and they are still charging $45.00 on golf now, There was seaweed in the fairways, so much water in the sand traps that there were ducks in almost all of them. Lots of water on the course hardly any fairway grass left and the greens were in poor condition too. I talked with the greens keeper and he said they will be back, I don't see this being a viable course this year
SAVE your MONEY go somewhere else this year.
The wosrt conditioned course I've ever played.
Based on the course's website and the local advertising for the course, we were looking forward to playing The Links at Brigantine. What we received was a course that was in such bad condition they should have paid us to play or at least have the decency to keep the course closed so as not to embarass themselves. The fairways looked like swamp bottoms that had barely drained and finding grass from which to hit was almost impossible.
Big swamp right now
Didn't realize it was CART PATH ONLY until after arriving. Should have called before making reservation. Many areas of the course were almost unplayable with mud. Very apprehensive about even driving on cart path in a spot where water was almost up to floorboard of cart. Also seemed like EVERY goose, brant, and duck in NJ stopped for a grassy meal and left their droppings. They competed with the resident seagulls who also left MANY clam shells scattered about. 1st time on course. Don't know how the course will come back without any drainage. Might attempt again or even recommend to others in mid-summer after a VERY LONG dry spell.
Good Course
The course is not one you want to play after a storm and extra high tide. Course does not drain well.
Course does have some challenging hole and it a nice course to play when dry.
the course shopuild be closed under the condition like it was.
It was water puddles all over and whole ground were so socking wet including fairway and green. It was so much birds drops, drops and drops all over the fairway.
We skipped the 1st and 2nd holes and we tried the 3rd and 4th on the wet. But the birds drops so bad it was like a nightmare.
So we just ride to check the lest of the holes in the first half.
It was all same and we didn't even look the second half.
We come home and washed all our fits. I wished the management have prudent business mind.
The course was short and played nicely.
The course was short but challenging in certain holes. I expected some views of the bay, but there were none. Most of the holes were in the midst of housing developments. The staff was very friendly.
This is a course not to play during the winter months.
There was little evidence of any maintainence on the golf course. The course had large amounts of goose and duck droppings on a lot of the fairways. Compared to other courses in the area the fairways were in poor condition.
Course was hit hard by Sandy, boat on 2nd hole. still a nice round
course was damaged in storm, still had debris on a number of holes, boat in play on 2nd hole. still nice late November round, excellent value.
Close to Casinos. Decent little course.
Overbooked public course leads to excruciatingly slow play. Course layout is OK, enough challenge to keep your interest but not the prettiest course in the area. Crowded conditions and lots of blind shots led to groups behind hitting into us more than once. Not recommended as a great golf experience but it is close to the Casinos and relatively cheap.
