Chardon Lakes Golf Course
About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Well maintained
I’ll start with a positive. The course was well maintained opposed to some of the reviews mentioning it was not. I went with a group of 4 all relativity new golfers in the last 2 years. After the first hole in we were getting ready to tee off on hole 2 and one of the staff members came up and said we had to speed it up; we had 3 groups of 2 behind us. Not sure how zero time spacing in between groups is our fault we teed off 3 minutes early to our appointed time. I believe it was hole 9 you can drive the green depending on where you’re teeing off from and if you’re good at putting you can pick up and eagle. They have a saying in the club house “public course with a private course atmosphere” and the staff lived up to that. 75% of the staff seemed to have an attitude as did most of the other golfers we encounter while playing here.
Horrific Slow Play
Average course that will take you over six hours to play, not worth it. Two groups on every tee box every hole.
Beautiful
Best course I have played all year. Greens and fairways were beautiful. Only one complaint is the rough was very deep. Hard to find your ball.
Fun course
Great lay out, challenging, lots of green side bunkers. Course was in great condition and the staff were friendly.
Cart paths probably time to replace was the only negative thought I had all round. Kidding I did send a few drives into the woods.
Good course worth the money
Good course very friendly people who work the money
Pick the right tees!
Nice course with some variety. Some of the par 4s and especially the par 5 17th are long. More enjoyable if you are playing the right tees for your skill level! Common sense, but us golfers and our egos...
Great course
The course is great condition! Greens are beautiful & good layout!
Too long of a round
The course is ok but pace of play management is terrible- don’t plan on less than a 5.5 hour round any time of day on weekends
Pace of Play
This course is the worst for pace of play. I don't understand how this always happens, but we played the front in 1:30 the back took 3 hours...3 groups waiting on the tee box on multiple holes. Just pathetic spacing on the tee times and no rangers to hold anyone accountable. Play elsewhere if you can.
Fun course
Great layout. I gave 5 stars on condition because I knowingly went after a decent amount of rain so it was pretty soft in some areas. But other then that on a hot summer day this place would be great
Chardon Lakes
Had a great time playing with my wife. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Some of the greens needed work but overall a nice course.
bumpy tore-up greens
they should be ashamed charging $68 weekend rate for bumpy greens and unplayable bunkers because there is no sand in them. i realize they aeriated a couple of weeks ago, but the greens were in bad condition not related to aeriation.
