Chardon Lakes Golf Course

About
Chardon Lakes Golf Course opened as a nine-hole course in 1931. The original layout was designed by Bert Way, the same creative mind behind two of the popular golf courses in Ohio: Firestone North in Akron and Mayfield C.C. in Lyndhurst. The second nine was added in 1963. The golf course has a traditional layout with challenges that have withstood the test of the time. It has hosted several qualifiers for the Cleveland Open, most recently in 2001. Many famous players have tested their luck on the golf course, including Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, whose score of 67 from the back tees is still the course record. Mature trees line Chardon Lakes Golf Course's fairways and there are more than 40 bunkers strategically placed along the large, undulating greens. There are also water hazards on 11 holes.

Chardon Lakes
Course was in great shape. Challenging layout and great greens. Pace of play was okay.
Slow round
Great course, they need rangers to maintain pace of play. No course monitoring.
Fun little course
This is a great little course! Pace of play was slow on a Sunday but that’s not surprising. Greens were in good shape and the course layout was interesting without being too challenging. The starter was great and took time to explain the greens and provide some tips. Overall, great little gem of a course!
Great layout
Course was very well maintained. Starter was helpful after my partner didn't show up. Got hooked of with a group of 3. Driving range is down the street opposite side of course. Have to drive car over. Didn't know that since being my first time. Also need to get tokens before going to range. It did have a pay machine but it wasn't working. Very nice course but I believe it's about 10-15 dollars over priced for a 9 with a cart. Was 40 for the round. With all that I will still go back for sure
Poor course management
I enjoy the course itself, but the the way it is run makes it very undesirable. I had the first tee time last year in July, I need to finish for an event. A foursome was let out on the back nine in front of us, so we were unbale to continue. I was given a rain check, and figure I would play again when the rotation came back up. Today I went to play and to my surprise the raincheck was not valid, lest than 1 year later. I tried to explain what had happen, and not only was nothing done, but it was handled very condescendingly. I decided not to play today, and will forever take this course out of the rotation that we play every year. Also when asked, and I get asked a lot, I will never recommend this course to anyone.
