The Blue Heron Pines Golf Club consists of two award-winning courses called the East and the West. Located 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City, these public golf courses provide a challenging game and have been touted by many New Jersey publications as the best 18-hole course on the Jersey Shore.

Each golf course had a different designer so they do have some differences. The West Course is relatively flat with narrow fairways and fast greens. Water hazards also come into play on seven holes. The East Course on the other hand features wide fairways and difficult bunkers. The East Course also follows a links-style layout and is meant to be played fast and firm. For those who want to play the courses but aren't at the top of their game yet, the club offers golf instruction.

Horrible Service

Our tee time was set immediately after an outing had gone out on the course. The shop told me they cancelled tee times of public golfers except those reserved through golf now. After 13 holes in 4.5 hours, drunk players on the course, being hit up on multiple times and waiting 20 minutes for a hot dog my wife and I left the course. Horrible experience. If I hadn't played here before and enjoyed it I'd never go back.

After I posted this I was contacted by the manager who apologized and offered another round free. There is nothing else they could do so now I'd change these ratings. They certainly did respond!

Difficult

Always love the course. But booked on golfnow confirmed in pro shop. Went hit balls. No one around to give cart had to walk. When went to started advised not on tee sheet would have to wait 2 hrs. Was then told could go out as single in back . All 4 somes out came back after 4 holes. Was then sent out with group for front nine. Was able to get 13 holes in. Should also note when given a cart no score card. Was told not satisfied would make good went to pro shop no one around.

Private Club Atmosphere and Amenities

I'll start my review by stating that I do belong to a private club and I'm an average golfer (14 HC). I played Blue Heron Pines with 3 other family members on Aug 4. To begin, the practice facilities are great...driving range, chipping area/green and a putting green. The course was in absolutely beautiful shape! Fairways were perfect, rough was decent (and lush) and the greens were fair (albeit a little bumpy, but still pretty good). It was a Monday morning, so the greens were probably still a bit bumpy from the weekend traffic. The layout is challenging, but fair. Club selection off the tee needs to be thoughtful, but you will still go driver on almost all holes. All in, this is a great course with some great holes and a very attentive, nice and welcoming staff. I would strongly encourage anyone to play here. I will definitely do so again. Only a 20 minute drive from the 9th St. bridge out of OC.

Con: The GPS's in the carts are not very good.

Jaws Attacks

Course was in great condition, especially the greens. Ron Jaworski was there and was a gracious and accommodating host, signing autographs & taking pics. Staff was very friendly, food and service at 7 Tap Grill was excellent. Really enjoyed my round & hope to get back soon. Pace of play was a little slow, probably due to Jaworski playing 2 groups in front of me(spoken like a true Giants fan). Jaws has done a great job with this course, worth the trip.

Possibly my favorite at the Jersey Shore

Played on a Saturday afternoon for $39...showed up and walked right out on to the course. The staff was fantastic and extremely friendly. The course was in pristine condition and was a really enjoyable layout. The GPS in the carts is really helpful and gives an aerial view of both the hole and the green in addition to yardages to different landmarks on each hole.

Great Conditions, Lots of Fun

This course is not terribly long yet challenges the golfer with some well placed bunkers, blind tee shots, and challenging dog-legs. It is in great conditions after the recent rain storms we've had. GO PLAY NOW, before it gets too hot and course gets burnt.

Good Course, Poor Value

I enjoyed playing the course, but I was disappointed with the service and support. Considering the cost of the round, I would have liked assistance with my clubs upon arrival (none), and assistance loading my clubs onto the cart (none). As the starter was briefing us on the course conditions and guidelines for play, he proudly told us about the new GPS on all the carts. At which point we noticed that our cart didn't have GPS, so we had to switch carts. At the end of the round, there was someone to clean our clubs (and hover around waiting for a tip), but once again no help to remove the clubs from the carts, since carts are not permitted in the parking lot.

Really Disappointing - no one cares or pays attention

At the 11 th hole we catch up to a 6 some. Yes a 6 some. Not a typo. After standing on the tee (it's a par 3) I'm thinking maybe one group is letting the other through. Not the case.

They proceed to the next tee and play. We finish the 11 th hole and I go to the 12 th tee and see 6 golfers - 3 carts in the middle of the fairway. I'm looking for Candid Camera or something. Then I call the clubhouse.

I ask if 6 somes are allowed. The answer I get is yes, when would you like to come out. Honestly that was the answer. I then explain that I'm behind a 6 some and they need to and a ranger out to break it up and move them along. By now we have the group behind us finishing the hole behind us as well.

No ranger ever comes. The rude 6 some doesn't let anyone through so we go around and then play the skipped hole later.

I get to the pro shop after the round. It's only 6 PM or so. No pro or assistant pro there - just the clerk at the desk who clearly doesn't know golf or rules - and the cart attendant at the bag drop who was nice and in disbelief when I told him. He is an asset - he tried to calm us down and even offered a discount at the Restaruant.

Bottom line - take your chances. Nice course but seems to be poorly managed and no one is paying attention. No rangers ,no pro around , and no one to keep pace moving.

Some things fall into the life is too short category and playing here now is in that bucket.

PS. I call the pro to discuss. Honestly his name is Keven. He wasn't in the office when I called ( a pattern?) and his voice mail has a greeting from the prior pro " Steve". I called back and said you put me into the wrong voice mail and they say no it's right the greeting just hasn't been changed. This is true and perhaps explains a lot. I haven't yet received a return call.

Great Experience

My round started by locking my keys in the car, which the staff was very willing to help me out as I worked through that. They offered me free rental clubs to use so that I could begin my round (it was around 5 o'clock and they were genuinely concerned for me that I might not be able to play a full round before it got dark). The course was great, and the staff was more than accommodating. A+

Enjoyable time we had!

We played with a resident and he was very nice. People are very friendly and understandable for tourists like us. Attention to the endless sand traps. Not recommended for beginners. We went late in the day with a sunset, the scenery was breathtaking. Water, trees, driveways ... and yes I recommend it to all players for the manicure the field and especially for his second nine.

Reason for 5 hour round was a small tournament between the Pines. Harbor Pines and Blue Heron Pines. This group of players could have played a little faster.

Good Mix of Holes

Course was in excellent condition despite extended period without rain. Played Sunday at 4PM & fit in 18 holes due to extended summer daylight. Sunday deal included free range balls, free sleeve of balls (good quality, not non-brand), and certificate for free meatball sub after round. Only complaint was that there was no refreshment cart at that time of the day and no water on the course in the 90 deg. heat.

Go play it!

It's been a year or so since I last played here and Jaworski's management group is doing an excellent job with this one. The same goes for his Running Deer and Riverwind courses. Keep up the good work and buying other courses!

Awesome layout and condition.

The course is in great condition and the layout is challenging but still good for the average golfer. If play is a bit backed up, they've got their staff fixing divots in the fairways in the interim. Which is why I rarely saw divots in the fairways. Highly recommended. Definitely a must play.

Enjoyable round

Nice course, good mix of holes allowing you to hit most of the clubs in your bag.
Greens were in excellent shape for a public course. Rough was spotty in some spots or would rank course conditions excellent.
Played in early morning and enjoyed the fast pace of play. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a place to play at the shore.
