Great Golf and Views at the Ridge
Hadn't played this course in many years and decided to make the journey after picking up a great GolfNow deal. Played the course from mostly the tips because I was paired up with junior golfers practicing for a tournament over the weekend. Definitely as challenging as I remembered from the first time I played the course. The views especially with the fall colors make it a spectacular venue. Would go back again and play with fellow "duffers" from the middle tees.
Hard, hard, hard...the ground that is
I did enjoy playing this course, the layout was fantastic, the scenery was amazing being that it was fall but the course was very hard, especially the greens. They were easily a 12 on the stomp if not more, the fairways were firm which caused shots to roll further than normal but if you play it more than once and get used to this fact you will be fine. The bunkers were also very hard, almost like playing out of waste areas. The course had several tee boxes to choose from, five if I'm not mistaken. There were several forced carries off of the tee and the rough was thick and lush. The play was slow for s Thursday and that was ever with a ranger trying to push people along, so the course was doing there job, the golfers were not. This course is a hidden gem that I would certainly play again and I recommend you play it as well.
Great Course
The course is well maintained visually appealing. The pace of play issues seem to be resolved. The only thing left to improve are the sand traps, hard as a rock. The course really is a joy to play.
Mansion
Was in great shape. They were just aerating the tee boxes.
Disaster
I booked the tee time through golfnow expecting yesterday to go smoothly. It was an absolute horrible experience. They had a shotgun outing booked at 1pm and our tee time was at 1:40. Management seemed overwhelmed of the situation and We left after 12 holes because we had to Leave by 5:30. Does this make any sense? Was i in the middle of a bad dream? The answer is sadly no
very nice
very nice course to play. played second tee and could have easily played tips. I'm not a big hitter. not overly long. greens fast and true. sand firm but nice. heavy fescue. paid $49 after 2pm and that is a great price for this course. didn't eat or drink at bar but it looked nice
great layout
Mansion Ridge is an all-around excellent golf experience. Great design, challenging from all tee-boxes.
Course stays in good condition year round.
Only negative is the bunkers. Not nearly enough sand, and poor quality
Challenging course.
The bad first, I thought there were a few too many waste areas you had to carry. Also, it seemed liked a lot of holes where you had a steep climb up or down to the green. Those of us with bad knees notice this type of stuff. The good, nice course, challenging,semi-fast greens. It is a scenic course and I plan on being back. Had a good time with my friends during the round and after where I found the fish and chips to be very good. All staff were friendly.
Great course...I will return for sure
We played on an early morning after a night of rainstorms. The weather was abs beautiful and clear out in the am, but the first 7-8 holes were very soggy, but by the back 9, it began to dry out very nicely. The pace of play was perfect, there were rangers everywhere keeping an eye on things and making sure it was moving smoothly. Overall I give this course a true A+ for being a public track. I will be back very soon for sure. Excited tohave found this place knowing its only 35/40 min from my door.
Top course, I will be back to play when it's drier
We played here the day after a downpour so the front 9 was VERY soggy, but by the 10th, sun way out all morning and the back 9 were playing thew way I'd imagine a course like this would play as it dried out. I will DEF be back to play again in dry conditions, but either way, I give this place an A+ all day for maintenance and play
Everything AMAZING....but the sand.
It was my wife and mine's first time playing this course and as soon as we arrived we knew we were about to play a fantastic course. The overall facility is amazing and we were paired up with another twosome who were very friendly and decent golfers. I am about a 9 handicap and played the Green tees (championship tees I believe) and found the course to be a little short and would probably play the tips next time. The tee blocks, fairways and greens were all superb, especially the greens. They rolled true and fast....really fast. The only GLARING issue with this course was the sand....or lack there of. The sand traps were as hard as the cart paths and it was just impossible to hit a nice soft shot out of them. Thankfully I was only in 1 greenside bunker but still smoked it about 15 yards over the green and made double. All in all, finished up with an 83 thanks to a 39 on the back and a couple of clutch par putts. Again, the greens were rolling great.
I will 100% be back here...actually have an 830am tee time this Thursday and I am really looking forward to breaking 80 here.
Get some sand though....common, for a place this nice you would just assume the sand to be as perfect as the rest of the course.
Loved, Loved, Loved
I have now played this course twice in the last month. I play
with two friends and we all love this course. Challenging, fair,
in great shape and worth the price we paid. Pace of play was fantastic both times. Views are really nice. Did not use restaurant so can't speak of that. Halfway house was OK but is actually at 11th hole.
This course has quickly become one of our regular spots from here on out.
A game required
Precision shot making narrow fairway's couple of strange par 5's nice course the foursome would not let me play thru idiots they claimed the group in front was slow I quit after four hours on the13 hole pass thee idiots only to find out group in front far ahead of them oh well still great course
Excellent course
This was the very first time that I played Mansion Ridge and I was amazed at the great condition the course was in. The greens on this course are very challenging.
Beautiful layout a views
course in good shape. But layout and scenery were unbelievable! Greens held everything and were quite fast. Will be back and already have recommended to many friends
Great course
Fast greens but true real nice track friendly staff will definitely play again
fun & beautiful
very interesting holes, a challenge for certain yet really fun.
Definitely worth the money
Fairways and greens were in pretty good condition. Just need players to fix the ball marks and replace the divots. Hope they keep the course in this condition throughout the season.
New Management
Some changes have been made since the last time I played here. They made the 8th hole cart path less dangerous, and they trimmed back some of the vegetation in alot of areas. The course gets alot of play and as usual alot of the people don't repair ball marks or divots. Overall the course is in good shape. Nice area to have beverages after your round.
Uneven Lies Create the Challenge
This was my first time at Mansion Ridge. It is a beautiful looking course with "country club" amenities in the clubhouse (e.g., nice locker room and grill room). However, the "driving range" is irons only so that was disappointing.
At the time of this write-up the course was in perfect condition. Fairways were like carpeting so you could putt off the green on many holes. You will want to take a golf cart because there is quite a bit of distance between holes.
Playing this course for the first time was challenging because you could not always see the approach shot (to know if there was trouble ahead). So if you won't impact pace of play, drive your cart up to see what is ahead.
Most holes were fair but the 9th hole is the #1 handicap hole for good reason, their are two carries to navigate (a bit unfair for those that don't have long drives). Also, the 10th forward tee is poorly located because the creek is 150 yards which is the avg for most female golfers. And the carry on the 15th hole may also require those with less distance off the tee to have an extra stroke because you may need to layup on your second shot to get close to the "junk" to have a 100 yard shot over to the other side, Other than 9, 10 and 15 the rest of the holes were fair from the forward tees.
The halfway house on the 11th hole is very nice and the the bar/grill in the club house was very nice and the food was great.
I would play this course again now that I know the strategy to play.
