Brunswick Golf Club - Azalea/Magnolia Course
About
Brunswick Plantation & Golf Resort is a 27-hole layout located in the fishing village of Calabash, North Carolina, abut 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach.
It has three distinct nines: the Magnolia, Azalea and Dogwood. On all nines, you need to hit the ball straight off the tee, taking care of the fairway bunkers, some of which are fairly high-lipped. The course has quick, bent-grass greens, moderately large, and lush, well-tended fairways set amidst tall, Carolina pines.
The azalea is routed through thick, Carolina woodlands and has an island green surrounded by oyster shells. That's No. 15, accessible by bridge.

Love the layout
We really have enjoyed the course layout
Challenging and fun to play.
Course was in great condition. We will diffinetly
Put this on our top list to play when we come down again.
Overall course was in good shape. They got a lot of rain the prior days so course was a little spongy, and some bunkers were unplayable as they were filled with water.
Great course
Nice layout greens are rolling great
Must play
Best staff
Friendliest and most helpful staff of any course I've played in the Myrtle Beach area. Course was in great shape.
Great Layout and condition
Love this course. Go back to it every chance I get.
Nice course
Course was in really good condition… Especially for this time of year… Very hot
Overall Good Day
Partner couldn’t get anybody to wait on him to buy range balls. Cart attendant was great, took care of him
Front nine real slow with group of 4 ladies in front of us. No ranger to move it along. They were done after 9 and back nine was wide open for us. Course/ greens in good condition
Unable to play out of sand traps due to standing water. Grass around several of the bunkers was not groomed.
Would not recommend to friends due to the condition of the course.
Good time.
Enjoyable experience. We zipped along and completed in just over 4 hours. Only problem I had was not being able to use my smart watch distance calculator?????
Lack Of Consideration
We booked our tee time at 5pm because we wanted to play after work. It rained off and on all day so we thought we should call to make sure the course was still open around 3:30. They asked us to come early as they were all trying to go home early that evening. We showed up closer to 4:30. When we arrived, we were told that everyone went home so we couldn’t play. They knew we had called but said they didn’t have our phone number to call us back.
We wouldn’t have minded if when we called they said the course was closed, but why have us drive all the way there and then tell us we couldn’t play? That’s a complete lack of consideration on our time.
Golf
This was the first time playing here. From the time we arrived the staff was extremely courteous and friendly. They did everything they could to make our day the best. The course itself was just a smidge short of perfect. Only bad thing was the foursome in front of us were slow. They were older players and around hole 12 they didn’t fair in the heat very well. Slowed way down. Other than that it was a perfect outing. Definitely will be playing again on the next visit.
Sand Traps Full of Water
Greens and fairways in good shape. However the sand traps had 6 plus inches of water in them. I lost a ball in a fairway bunker. Hit into another and found my ball plus two others that previous players had lost in the water in the traps. I realize they do not drain. They need to pump them out.
