Slow

My 3rd time playing here, first since last fall. The pace of play was terrible at 5 hours, no rangers to be seen. Greens in excellent shape but currently slow. Tee boxes and fairways Ok, more weeds than I recall. At 60-70 dollars not a great value, feels more like a $49 course currently based on conditions. Worth a visit if you’re considering.

Greatly improved Springdale

The course is dramatically improved from a few years ago. New paved cart paths, manicured traps, nice greens and an overall attention to details It is also much more expensive and probably a little higher than it should be in it’s stage of rebuild. Bottom line it is a great track and great fun to play. I will look forward to coming back

Great Tract

We were happy to be able to play this course. It’s a great 18 hole tract in great condition. Clean carts and facilities. Greens were exceptionally undulating which is to be expected for a mountain course. The only negatives - the members playing the course were less than friendly and the pace of play after the first 6 holes was s-l-o-w with several golfers in groups in front of us taking 2 shots per drive.

Great Course

This is a great course that is on my list of places to travel to at least once a season. It’s a great layout. In great shape. With a great staff. They have pumped a bunch of money into a new clubhouse and restaurant which are really nice. As well as the course itself. Mr Boone and his staff do a great job on the course. The front 9 is built more down into a valley and is more open and flat. While the back 9 is more true mountain golf. The course plays a little long from the white tees. Over 6400 yards. But offers a hybrid blend of tees in the scorecard between white and yellow which comes in at about 6000 yards. The course was in great shape. Fairways. Tees. Greens all excellent.

1-is a downhill tee shot with a hard dogleg right. You need to be able to hit a cut here. It’s a long par 4 at over 390 yards and unless you hit a cut or take it over the trees it’s going to be a long approach.

2-is a straightaway open par 4. Near 400 yards from the white tees but just over 300 from the gold

3 is a medium length uphill par 3 with a huge 2 tiered green. Definitely need to be on the right section of the green.

4 is a short downhill par 4. But a pond on the left half of the fairway forced less than driver off the tee.

5 is a shorter par 5 with an open tee shot. It gets tighter as the hole goes. But is a good chance for par

6 is a long dogleg left par 4. The approach is uphill. And there is little advantage of playing from the gold tees on the hybrid blend of tees as it forces a layup where a good drive would land from the white.

7 is a pretty uphill par 4. Very open hole.

8 is a pretty downhill par 3. Long from the white tees at about 190 yards. But medium length from the gold tees on the hybrid set (150 yards)

9 is a shorter par 5. Pretty open that falls off at about 150 out. From the top of the fairway you cannot see the green or the creek that fronts it at the bottom of the hill.

10 is another par 5 that doglegs left and crosses a creek uphill on the approach. Take your drive over the tree on the left. You won’t be able to see the green until your 3rd shot.

11 is a downhill par 4 off the tee that moves slightly right.

12 is a shorter par 3. But it’s pretty tight around the green.

13 is the signature hole the Springdale Spasm. It’s a long par 4 from the white. A double dogleg that moves right then slightly left uphill. The tee shot needs to hug the bunker on the right. The further left your tee shot the longer the approach. And the approach is to a very narrow green area.

14 is a cool dogleg left par 4. At about 150 out the fairways turns left and down hill. Any ball that lands around 150 out with roll down the hill to about 100 yards out.

15 is a very open uphill par 4.

16 is a tough hole. Long downhill par 4. Open tee shot. But long hole and the approach is over a creek to a pretty tight green area.

17 is a medium length par 3.

18 is a beautiful par 5 to finish. Downhill tee shot. With a creek about 100 yards from the green to navigate. It’s reachable in 2 with a good drive.

All in all a great course. It’s a little pricey. But worth it once a year.

Very Good Condition

Vacationing in the area so playing this course for the first time. Greens were slow but in excellent condition as were the fairways. Some of the tee boxes were a bit sparse (yellows) especially on the back nine. A challenging but fair course but as others have noted the back nine mountain holes were a bit more challenging than the front nine valley holes. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. GPS golf carts were spot on with distances compared to my rangefinder. Two suggestions: put some directional signage to golf shop from parking area as well as to #1 and #10 tees; if there was a comfort station on the front 9 I missed it. Hope to play again soon.

New Clubhouse is spectacular

Have played this course on several occasions and decided to play it again because I had heard there was a new owner and that course conditions had improved. . I was cautiously optimistic but to say that I was shocked at the improvements would be an understatement. All I can say is Wow! All NEW: Clubhouse, restaurant, Pro Shop, cart paths, parking lot, Cart barn, putting greens, Carts with GPS, Bridges, and on and on and on. So happy that I am planning on bringing a group of 16-20 to play this fall. Course was in great shape. Hats off to the new ownership. You have done an outstanding job.

A Gem!

A great course with alot of variation in the layout. Tough holes and gettable holes alike! The facilities are on the level of a higher end club and the setting is incredible. The driving range is small but that's the only real negative thing i can say. Its not a cheap round but a great place to try out if you haven't yet. I am not sure what other reviews are referring to in the collar issues..its fescue around the greens which is tough but it was in great shape. The greens were not too fast as expected for bent grass in the summer but i bet they get quick in the fall! Had a blast!

Hidden gem, worth the drive

This mountain resort course was a pleasant surprise. Close to Asheville, NC but a bit of a drive to a remote, small town location. As a resort course, it's a little more expensive than some others but once you arrive you'll see why. The clubhouse and restaurant facilities are new and grand, the course is very well kept and lush. In an area that was devastated by flooding many years ago, the owner has made major investment in the course and facilities. Virtually everything is new here from the buildings to the bridges, fairways and bunkers (though some cart paths are still in the process of being updated and a bit rough). Stately homes with beautiful landscaping and views surround the course but are far back from the area of play. Brand new carts with GPS, complimentary towels and water are a nice touch. The confidence-building front 9 is relatively open with few trees and little elevation, but the back is far more challenging with big uphill and downhill pins, dense trees, forced carries, water and doglegs. Several scenic creeks running through the property add to the ambiance. Well-maintained white sand bunkers were raked and in perfect shape even after a rain. Greens were slower than I'm used to but in perfect shape and many featured challenging contours. As some have noted/complained, some holes are ringed by thick St. Augustine grass that requires you to chip on a missed green rather than putt, which I didn't mind. I played 18 then went around again because I enjoyed it so much, and 36 is something that I haven't done in years. Great amenities, challenging elevations and mountain views from many holes make this worth the trip.

Great Find While Traveling Thru

We were on our way to Myrtle Beach from NW Indiana. Found Springdale and was very happy with it. It’s a challenging mountain course with beautiful views.

We can’t say enough about how pleasant the staff was from start to finish. We were accommodated for breakfast since didn’t pass a restaurant on the way in. The pro shop, starter and rangers each made the experience enjoyable
