Fantastic golf course
I was able to get 18 holes in under 3 and a half hours! The course is always in great shape and if it was a little more affordable I would play it more often. The people are great! The customer service is top notch! Definitely one to try!
Pretty course
Course played very short this day but that didn't stop it from being hard. While there is not much ob, the pins were placed on tiers that would challenge any golfer. Overall great day, staff was very friendly.
Perfect as Always!
Once again, Ballantyne doesn't disappoint. The staff is very kind and friendly. You can't beat the facilities, especially the proximity of the driving range/multiple practice greens/ and the mini-clubhouse to the first tee. Most importantly, the course was in top-notch condition, considering it's been pretty dry the last 10 days. The greens are rolling as quick as ever, and you definitely want to stay below the hole. The 18th hole is undoubtadly the best closing hole around, featuring views of the resort. However, I recommend playing the course Monday-Thursday ($60), opposed to $80+ on the weekend.
best greens on any public course ANYWHERE!!!
staff friendliness was GREAT!!! greens are always perfect!!! fairways fine and dandy. need some new sand in bunkers.getting a little thin...best practice areas found anywhere!!! well stocked pro shop. bag service was top notch. even though the young man who put my golf bag in my trunk hit my bumper and left a scratch. EVEN after I told him it was heavy and to be carful. but he was real nice about it.so no big deal...LOVE LOVE LOVE the greens!!!! thanks for a great round. Greg
Golf
On vacation for 5 days and I was over excised yes I will return again I also text some of my golfers drienso they can visit .
Almost perfect
Loved everything about course and people. Their policy of adding tax to everything instead of including it in rack rate and food and drink cost left me feeling "nickel and dined". Selling for 3 times the store price should be enough.
Simply the best public course in Charlotte
Without a doubt this is the best public course in the Charlotte area. The layout was very good, and the course conditions were fantastic. I will be going back as much as I can.
Great day except the pace of play
Super course in great shape. Hard to understand that they were runnuning on schedule with tee times and the first 6 holes took 2 hours to play. A ranger finally came out and either people left or they pushed them along as the final 12 holes played a decent pace.
Beautifull glf course
This course lived up to my expectations
Looking forward to playing there again.
This course is a must play!
My dad, brother, and myself are out of towners who came to Charlotte to celebrate my daughter's wedding. I was looking for a nice course to play to celebrate this joyous occasion and Ballantyne exceeded my high expectations. The golf course was is pristine condition! The greens putted true, the fairways were well manicured, and the layout was very nice!
I'm not from around the area but I had really high expectations for this course from all of the reviews I read. First and foremost the staff was top notch! The greens were ok and still a little bumpy in spots but rolled fairly true considering it's a public course and not all players have the etiquette to repair the greens on approach shots. The pace of play was horrendous; actually the longest round I have ever played!! 6 hours for 18 holes is pathetic!!! Granted I get not everyone is a high caliber golfer but it's up to the course to manage pace of play and waiting 10 minutes between holes is unacceptable for a course that isn't that long to begin with. I hope this is just a one off but I definitely will be very hesitant to play again for the price tag of $85 plus.
Slow play-thin grass
Very slow play over booked. Very late growth stage for spring. Greens smooth, good pace, wouldn't hold, hard.
ballantyne
The course was worth 5 stars. Best greens I've played on in years. Actually had grass to hit off of in the fairway. Paid 49 through golfnow prepay special and was worth every penny. The ones complaining about buildings around the course obv hasn't played in the middle of a city before. I don't pay attention to anything but the course and the scenery whenever I go somewhere. Was def challenging. 18 was a great finishing hole. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it took me driving around 25 minutes and asking 3 different people where the proshop was. Gps took me to the premier building. proshop is right beside the gallery restaurant and ballantyne motel. No signs whatsoever telling you where to go.
Nice enough but needs maintenance
Found this on my own. Good price. Good crew. Mediocre course condition. Greens needed rolling. Way too bumpy. Good traps. Nice rolling terrain. Have to think your way around. Many holes with side hill influences so driving needs to be precise.
It's a lower level "resort" course. Attached to a business hotel so a lot of slower play. At least they have a ranger out there but players think of their game as being better than it is and can lack course etiquette.
Great Track
This is by far the best public course in Charlotte. Greens are fast, but reward good shorts, bunkers are perfect, and all fairways and tee boxes were in good shape.
Played here before.
Some tees and greens in bad condition. Starter, very nice, paired us with a single. Speed of play was good until the 13th hole when we caught up with a twosome. They were playing with rentals, dressed in jeans and all over the course.
