Best Public Course In Charlotte
Without a doubt I recommend this course to anyone who wants great facilities in Charlotte. The course is set up fairly, nice, not too long but still allows you to use most of the clubs in your bag. There is a decent amount of water and sand to test your skills and the bunkers have always been raked and actually sandy which is not too common around other public courses in the area. Greens are super fast as always, pace of play is right on point, they never seem to be slam packed, probably because of the premium price. Worth it at 89.00 per person, definitely worth it anything less.
Aging Well
It's been several years since I last played this course and the development around it is very noticeable. Usually this detracts from the course beauty but I'd say the office buildings actually adds to the course. The urban/natural environment combination is unique for the Charlotte area and make a pretty contrast. The trees have matured and are beginning to add to the play difficulty. The conditions were excellent, fast bermuda greens, deep rough, but fair and playable. It's pricey relative to other deals available in Charlotte but worth the price.
Must play if in the area
A well maintained, manicured beautiful course in the heart of Charlotte. Very challenging but fair. I think one of the best public courses in the area.
Best Public Course in the Area
This course was in great shape and is challenging. I am a 12 handicap and this course has a few force carries that are fair and the undulating greens are sick. You better read the green before you putt. The staff is friendly and the facilities are really nice.
Good time
Got a good rate on Golfnow for a Sunday morning. Course was In good condition. The greens were very fast but the course wasn't mind numbing difficult. A good challenge for most skill levels. Every staff encountered were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was there not being water stations throughout the course. However that was taken care of as the ranger provided water and ice towels during the round. (97 degrees) I'd go back but only if I got a deal like I did on Golfnow. The $65+ rack rate is a bit much for my pocketbook.
Tough greens
Great course to play, conditions of fairways and greens were excellent, super tough greens, not to many flat straight putts.
Always a good time, best daily rate course in Charlotte.
I enjoy playing Ballantyne as I live across the street. I'm a single so GolfNow serves as a great tool for pairing up with others ensuring a normal paced round. If you're an average to longer hitter I recommend playing from the tips, as the par 5's can be a little short with a well placed tee shot. Although, the par 3's can definitely be daunting from the tips.
The main drawback that I can think of is the greens. Don't get me wrong, they're in excellent shape, but they get some heavy foot traffic during the day. With them being fast, you'll be putting slow which unfortunately allows the ball to trail back and forth through footprints. Best thing to do here, is trust your line and try to put through them, so long as you hit the hole! 3 putts can be common.
The bunkers have beautiful white sand, but the sand is unbearably shallow in the belly of the bunker which makes it it nearly impossible to get under the ball. The walls of the bunkers are fine, but unbelievably shallow in the middle.
Overall, this course is absolutely worth playing time and time again.
Tom's testimonial
Fast, true greens a bit sandy. Great staff, knowledgable, friendly. All concrete paths; send me vouchers to play again!!
Golf
Amazing course. Narrow fairways super fast greens. Overall nice course great friendly staff.
Top course in charlotte. Beautiful layout
This golf course featured some of the truest greens I have played all summer. They were fast, but not too fast and only a few burnt areas that did not really affect the line. The tee boxes, fairways and rough were perfect. Must play for the deal I got. Will come back here again soon.
Top-quality resort from the moment you arrive...
Ballantyne Resort just seem to do everything right. Every member of staff could not be more courteous and friendly from the person that greets you in the parking lot to the bartender at the 19th hole. Ballantyne has one of the best practice facilities in Charlotte and the course conditions are always great, especially at the rates they offer. This is one of my favorite courses in Charlotte.
Ballantyne
Lots of right to left hills on this course which makes shot placement critical. Course was in good condition, greens were fast, so putting was challenging. Shot placement is critical.
Friendliest staff in Charlotte!
First time playing at this course. It was a beautiful and rather difficult course. The staff could not have been more respectful and accommodating. 9/10 would play again.
Good Course
Great layout and very professional staff ... One of the Top courses in Charlotte...
Go play this course!
I'm in love with this course! Beautiful holes, challenging greens, unbelievable ambiance. Just go play it!
Great Course....read the fine print
Played Ballantyne because my brother in laws club had an event going on. The course had the feel of a country club. Great staff, really good golf course. The greens were especially tough. Lots of breaks and fast. Overall it was a great day.
My only complaint is the way the billing works. The "price due at the course" is not actually the price due at the course. You need to add $15.02 per person! Now I've played many different courses through Golf Now and have never had this issue. The guy at check in was confused so we had to get it settled after our round. The pro did a good job of explaining it, but contended that he didn't know why it was that way, and they had tried to get it changed. It left a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths. Just read the fine print.
Golf Round
The course was great and the experience was good also. The only issue was the fee for the course.
You have to read the fine print for the green fee charges and Add the cart fees.. This was not easily seen in the confirming email reservation....
Please don't close!
This was a wonderful experience.
I felt like royalty as soon as I got to the clubhouse.
The condition was great as was the pace of play.
I was paired with a couple of very nice gentlemen.
The Bloody Mary and the waitress at the half way house were both intoxicating.
Rumors going around say that the course may be closing for more office space, that would be a huge loss to golfers in the area.
Best In Charlotte
The BEST public golf course in the Charlotte area. By far the best maintained and staffed in town. Any golfer would enjoy the beauty of this course!
