Sunset Hills Golf Course - Old Course

I had to stop keeping score at hole 12 because the pace of play was so slow, I cooled down and warmed up every hole.

They need to understand that as a public course, you're going to have groups of 4 that all shoot 100+, which is fine. People need to learn and practice.

I'm not a great golfer either, I'll be lucky to break 90. But this was a terrible overall experience.

During the week it was fine, would avoid this like the plague on the weekend.

Very nice layout and greens, some tricky elevated greens.

Fairways good but lots of waste/very dry areas on edges near trees. Many tee boxes were dirt/very hard I had trouble getting my tees in the ground! Other than that nice driving range and course was fun fairly wide open and not too much sand or water.

If you’re looking for a good public course in Charlotte this is it. Tee boxes are okay, fairways have been the best I’ve from this course which is good. Greens are always pretty good but a little slow. In my opinion, if you’re looking just to play 18 holes/practice. This is the course.

A very good course for the price. Friendly staff and easy to locate.

The only con it is always busy and backed up.

Sunset Hills is a wonderful beginners course for those who are newer to the game than others. There is plenty of difficult shots to make and at the same time its easy to correct your mistakes. The only issue is that since it is a public course the pace of play is okay at best typically. Although the value for what you're getting makes it 100% worth it in my opinion and I have always had a good time coming here. I'm hoping with the new management company that once they are done redoing the tee boxes they will focus on the greens.

Booked and paid for a tee time on the 25th of Dec. for a foursome. Drove 45 minutes there and it was closed.

Called back on the 26th to try to arranged a rain-check for another day. The guy said he didn’t see any transactions made which was clearly a lied. The guy was very rude and uncooperative. He didn’t made any effort to accommodate anything or retain a customer.

If they are closed on the 25th, they shouldn’t listed any tee times. Had to resolved it with GolfNow which they verified by calling the course confirming my case.

Sunset Hill, please train your staff on customer service and common courtesy.
