No Customer Service
Booked and paid for a tee time on the 25th of Dec. for a foursome. Drove 45 minutes there and it was closed.
Called back on the 26th to try to arranged a rain-check for another day. The guy said he didn’t see any transactions made which was clearly a lied. The guy was very rude and uncooperative. He didn’t made any effort to accommodate anything or retain a customer.
If they are closed on the 25th, they shouldn’t listed any tee times. Had to resolved it with GolfNow which they verified by calling the course confirming my case.
Sunset Hill, please train your staff on customer service and common courtesy.
Good for the money
Pretty easy and forgiving golf course. A lot of open fairways and a lot of drivable par 4s. Greens rolled surprisingly well and course was in pretty good condition. For the price it’s hard to beat.
Go play for yourself!
There are lots of opportunities for low scores if you can place the ball well. Small greens are challenging, but that’s what makes you a better player! I played the course and had a lot of fun with a co-worker. Definitely will be going back! I’ve payed a lot more for a lot worse! Course has several spots that we’re roped off and had sod put down. I don’t ding the course for this, I’m actually glad to see they are working on the course! There are a lot of good courses that get neglected, but the staff seems to want to improve things. For $23 it’s very good for the money. I would encourage people to go play the course for themselves and ignore the reviews. Seems like a very decent muni course.
Worst course ever
I have been playing golf for a while now and this is by far the worst course you will step on. After the first hole you simply wanna go home. The greens aren’t even greens you have a better chance of putting in your backyard grass. Do not waste your money here.
Awful
Wouldn’t recommend playing here, can’t expect much for 30$ but this felt like I was in my backyard. Mostly weed covered fairways, and the greens felt like a 70s carpet rolling a generous 4 on the stimp. Would highly recommend better golfers not to play here.
Easy open course for the value
This course is very open with wide greens. If you’re a low handicap looking for a challenge (other than try to escape the hard sand traps here), this may not be for you. But for the price, this course offers a good time to work on your game. It’s a par 71 course. The fairways and greens weren’t as bad as I expected. The sand traps were basically concrete but the rain the day prior may have played a role in their quality.
TLDR: affordable course that’s worth the value
Really good value
Overall this course was not bad and a really good value. I will play here again. There are some areas on the fairway and a few greens that need attention but nothing I couldn’t get over. The golf cart was in good shape and the pace of play was pretty fast.
Scratched the itch
After 2 days of downpours, my wife and I were ready to get out of the house. Didn’t want to spend a bunch of money to play and didn’t at Sunset Hills.(36$ per) It is priced where a course like this should be. It isn’t overly long but I hit enough drivers to make it fun. There is a nice variety of holes and I hit most of the clubs in my bag. There are a lot of rocky areas around the cart paths so keep it in the fairways. Soggy but not unplayable after A LOT of rain. Very small, flat greens that putted ok for not being mown. I will need to play it again in better conditions to truly get a sense of the value but overall it played in under 4 hours and “scratched the itch.”
Bottom of the barrel
Probably the worst course around, however, with the perks membership it’s $7 to walk 9 holes. Easily the lowest rate around Charlotte. So if you’re just looking to get outside and play, you can for very cheap.
Driving range and practice green are poor as well, but they have them.
