Highland Creek Golf Club

Highland Creek used to be a premier course in this area. I hadn't played this course in 8 or 9 months and I was absolutely shocked at the poor conditions of the course. The clubhouse blamed a recent rash of broken mowers, but broken mowers can't explain the terrible conditions of the greens, the bunkers, and the fairways. Weeds everywhere: on the greens, in the fairways, and even in the bunkers.

My playing partners and I all agree....never again. Save your money! Stay away from the Carolina Trail and certainly stay away from Highland Creek until they get a management team and superintendent that can push this course back to it's full potential as a jewel in the North Charlotte area.

It wouldn't be fair to omit comments about positive aspects of playing Highland Creek so here you go: the chicken salad sandwiches are pretty good!

I'm not usually one to leave a bad review but felt I needed to after playing here. The fairways and greens were in terrible shape and there were large weeds on some of the greens. Fringe and Tee boxes had high grass and the sand traps had more weeds than sand. The areas that had been cut they left the long clippings which looked like a hay field. Bathrooms on the course were out of order and of the 2 coolers that were on the course only 1 had water. I couldn't believe how bad of shape this course was. Don't waste your money here, there are several courses in the area that are in much better shape for the same cost. My friends and I don't plan on ever playing there again.

Course layout was ok, long distances between some holes which should help the pace. Took almost 6 hours to play 18 holes with lots and lots of waiting. Greens were extremely slow sure to poor maintenance. Fairways were a bit shaggy as well, rough were like going into a wheat field. I would like to play this course again i would just have to know the mowing schedule first.

Hoping for a nice course...sadly it was not. Greens were fringe length and very spotty. Tees were not cut and not well kept at all. The rough.....wow.....if you are not in the fariway, forget finding your ball. Have not been cut in what has to be weeks. Sand traps the same way, horrible with not sand to be found. Will not return anytime soon. Much better courses out there for a better price.

$30 isn't a bad price, but the course is in terrible shape. The rough and other areas have not been mowed in a long time. There are plants growing in the grass! The greens are also a mess. They were aerated 2 weeks ago according to the pro shop, but I don't know how they are going to recover in the near future. They really need to put some work in get the course back up to par.

Paid $30 on a Sunday to put on fringe length greens. Lots of brunt spots on ever hreeen through 18. Bunkers not take care of. I will not return until the winter.

Absolutley brutal track. Not mowed, greens as long as some fairways, weeds all over.

Staff didn't even bother telling us in the clubhouse that the mower had been broke and that the fairways hadn't been cut. Save your money and play elsewhere. Not one to leave bad reviews but extremely diasapointing. Pace of play was just under 6 hours for 18.

Played this course a few months before and it was in pretty good shape. Came back in June, booked what i thought was a good deal (25 bucks for afternoon tuesday tee time) and regretted it shortly after. Greens were punched, but the bigger problem was their horrible condition other than being punched. More than half of the tee boxes were beat to heck or like teeing up in the long rough. Overall condition was clearly not beong prioritized. Not to mention there are no water coolers on the course and the guy in the pro shop threw (yes i do mean THREW) my reciepts at me after asking if i booked on golfnow. Wont be back til they get their stuff together. Too many better options in the area

Played for the first time yesterday and quite frankly, it was the worst conditioned golf course I have played in 25 years. Should have known better as we pulled in and there were maybe 10 cars at most in the parking lot. Went off 10 tee to start the day and the first 9 holes (back nine normally) were pathetic. Weeds everywhere, grass overgrown, tee boxes not mowed and the greens had so many weeds/other grass like poa annua, it was a joke. Bunkers not maintained, creeks areas not mowed, it looked like a semi abandoned course. Other 9 was better and had slightly better conditions, but no way would I every play here again. To top it off, they had the nerve to charge $45 to play an afternoon round in those conditions. $20 would have been too high! The final kicker was charging $21.75 for a SIX PACK of beer at the turn. Stay away from this place.

We arrived at the course about 30 minutes early and teed off right away and with only a twosome we moved right along with no delays. First time playing the course in 3 years due to poor playing conditions. Honestly can't say the course is much better since then. None of the bunkers had been raked and were still washed otr from last weeks rains. The course just looks terrible, due to uncontrolled weeds and small bushes growing everywhere outside of the rough. Needs manicuring to make it more aesthetically appealing. Thirty bucks for senior rate is too much for a course in this condition.

The staff of was very unprofessional from the time I arrive. If you don't like your job then do something else but I wouldn't recommend this golf course to anyone .

Fairways decent for this time of year. Greens seem to have different grasses which makes it hard to read. They were unusually slow compared to other times I've played this course.

Enjoyed the course. Holes are interesting and require some thought off the tee. Fairways are generous.

Only problem was that the greens were brutally slow - probably running about 6 on a stimpmeter.

After hearing the reviews for this course I expected a bad course, but after playing it. I thought that it was better than expected.

Awful grass conditions. Tough to find your ball even close to the greens. Did not enjoy our first time there a bit. The staff was very nice. Not their fault. Just really did not enjoy our time here.

We hadn't played this course in about 6 months. Course was not is great shape and certainly not worth the green fees they were asking, $35- $45 per person. Got the Hot Deal for $17 and we were pleasantly surprised with how well maintained the course was. We will be back especially using the Hot Deal pricing.
