The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Good course but sandy greens hurt
Course was in very good shape but greens had just been punched and sanded. I understand that is a necessity to preserve them but a little forewarning would have been nice. Otherwise, a very enjoyable round on a solid track.
Reliable and Dependable
This is my 5th time playing this course. Just as every time before, the course was in excellent shape. The greens were a little sandy from recent work but still putt well. The course was clean and maintained with no burn marks. I went out as a single that was paired with two other singles, both of which only played 9 holes. On the back nine I got stuck behind a slow foursome that was stuck behind another slow foursome. Other than that, everything was great. For the price, you can't beat this course. I'll be back for sure.
Great course but, oh so slow
Great course, well maintained. Very enjoyable and a great layout and would love to play again. 5 hours though for a round starting at 8.30am is just way way to slow.
Nice course
This was my first time playing this course. A little difficult for me but only because this was my second course outside of the one I usually play at. Fairways are a little less forgiving here and lots of sand around the greens. But overall this course is really pretty and will challenge me again in the future. I'm looking foward to it.
Great course
The pace of play was a little slow, but overall a great place
the neuse
the course was in great shape... from t box to the greens..
pretty challenging with a lot of un even lies, and 4 sets of tee boxes for all handicaps. played as a single and had a 3 hour round flat... would def come back and recomend this course
Nice course for the money!
I had heard nice things about the course. It was a nice course. The only complaint was as a first time at the course we had no idea where to hit the ball. They need pictures on a scorecard, hole signs or have yardage book for sale I the golf shop. Other than that it was nice.
Been a while
Course was in good shape. Had not played it in roughly 10 years. Really should be back in my rotation. Good value, challenging holes, but not overly difficult.
Great Round
Played this course multiple times and it never disappoints. Great layout and the course is in good condition. Pace of play was good, although we did play at 4:30 on a Sunday so I would expect it to be quick. Great course for the money! Paired up with a couple of members and they were extremely friendly and courteous. It is a fun and challenging layout. Looking forward to making the short trip out from Raleigh again in the near future!!
Good but could improve
We were excited to play a different Raleigh-area course. The Neuse was lovely to look at and very challenging. My girlfriend and I were paired with two gentlemen who were delightful to spend a few hours with....but not FIVE hours. Seriously, course management was not a priority at The Neuse. Point in fact - there was a twosome behind us and a FIVESOME ahead of us. Who allows that?
Assure me I can finish 18 between 3 1/2 to 4 hours, and I'll be back.
AS ADVERTISED
new to the area and heard a lot about this course. it delivered!
Great condition
Fairways and greens were very good shape.
Our threesome played in 5 hours 10 minutes on a Friday afternoon. Waited every shot. Course was full, but somebody slowed down play somewhere.
No marshal in sight.
Would recommend Monday through Thursday for a reasonably paced round.
Great greens
Played this course on a Monday morn early. Greens were all excellent and NO dirt spots on any green. Fairways in great shape. pretty thick, not many thin or rough areas to be found. Back nine was a bit quriky on 3 or 4 holes. They had to shape some holes pretty oddly to fit terrain and with the housing. Two or three teeboxes on back were very rough. Par 3's of course and hadn't seen a lot of maintenance. This was the ONLY problem with maintenance or conditions on this entire course. Very pleased with the conditions. I was playing with my brothers, some who don't play but once or twice a year and we ran into some pacing problems with the group behind us. We tried very hard to keep the pace up but they were on us by hole 6 and we had to let them go through. Of course they promptly dunk all three drives in the woods and bunkers and another group quickly showed up. BUT everyone was real decent about it and by hole 8 all was cleared up and we didn't have anymore situations until 17 and by then we were just trying to finish as it was HOT. So all in all definitely stop at The Neuse, friendly folks and a great course for the money. By the way, the only reason I gave 2 stars for pace was actually because of us.... LOL.... we had no problems with slow play ahead of us....
Love This Coarse
Always a challenge and rough if you hit where you may have to walk a bit but this coarse is a Must see...great challenge!
The Neuse was tough but fantastic condition
Great price. Challenging course in extremely good condition in a beautiful neighborhood. One of the best courses yet
Great quality golf course!
This course is affiliated with the preserve and chapel ridge and is just as nice and less expensive to play. I have played here several times and have not been disappointed. This round was busy and didn't have a chance to eat because of that, but that is expected on a sunday after a golfcaddy promotion. None the less a fun course!
July 6 2014. 4:08 tee
Great time. Fairways and greens in good condition.
Holiday Weekend
Course was in great condition. Pace was slow but is a beautiful day and I was in no hurry. There was a single sandwiched between two foursomes, so I did not understand that. Besides that head scratcher the course was great. My issues was with the food/beverage. A six pack of Budweiser is $18. What in the world? Budweiser is considered an import because it was bought by a Brazilian company. Well Corona should be domestic because it is bottled in Chicago. So play the course and don't drink the beer.
Great, tuff, variety, and quality
The Neuse was in great shape just after the 4th. Would recommend !
Great Experience...Will be Back
Great deal on Green Fees. When checking in, we found out the the deal included lunch as well! Nice surprise. Course in good shape, but thought greens would be a little quicker. Staff was very friendly. Surprised that there was no beverage cart on a beautiful, warm Sunday.
