Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

Course Condition

The Neuse is a very nice coourse. The layout was really nice. The corse was in fantastic condition. When first seeing it it looked a little intimidating, however with the different tees the course was set up for all level of players. The pace of play was very good. Finished the round in a little less than four hours and the course was busy. Will definitely play again

Beautiful course but not what I was looking for

We live very close to this course and my 8 year old daughter is just beginning to play so we went for 9 holes on a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful course that I will play again. They were obviously over booked as the parking lot was completely filled and there were not any golf carts available. This delayed our start by about 20 minutes and then we had to wait at the first tee for another 15. We were then paired with a couple of gentlemen that did not have the etiquette or clean vocabulary to be playing with an 8 year old girl.

We had a great time none the less and enjoyed the course itself. Sometimes you just draw the wrong pairing. I just wish the marshal had been a little better judge of who to pair with us.

Great course, poor service

The course and playing conditions for the money are great. I'm not going to go into why the round was tarnished, but it could have been prevented with a starter or ranger, or professional staff member taking a loop around the course to see what was going on.

What a deal!

This was my second time playing this course. The first time I played was about 3 yrs ago and it was over 100 degrees out....funny thing was it was about 98 degrees yesterday. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were flawless. I actually ran into a guy twice that was checking the greens for ball marks that had not been fixed...haven't seen that in quite some time. Only two things to bring up are there are no course maps on the scorecard showing the layout of the hole and that the walk from the cart to the greens on every hole are pretty demanding. My father has bad knees and all that walking up and down some pretty steep hills could be an issue. Book your time under the hot deal on Golf Now app and experience the best deal around. Kudos to the staff at this place on a fabulous course.

Neuse

Played Saturday and booked the "US Open Special" which included a meal. The kitchen staff had no idea what meal to give us and ended up giving us disgusting hot dogs which made one of my friends sick. After the "meal" we had 10 min to get our carts and tee off. No carts were available and we missed our tee time. After finally getting our carts the round was 5 hrs and 15 min, no marshal on the course. Staff very disorganized from the pro shop to the kitchen to the back shop. The starter was great as was the course, unfortunately these positives were overshadowed by the poor service.

Very pleasant course to polar

I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. The 14th hole definitely was challenging and the course in general was moderately difficult with a lot of rolling hills and long fairways. Both the greens and fairways were in beautiful shape and it is a very attractive course. Will definitely play there again and it is certainly worth the drive from Raleigh.

Excellent Day!

Although we were severely rained on during our round, that was out of the courses control. I felt the course was excellent, from the personnel inside, to the starter and then the course itself. If traveling in this area again, I will definitely make it back.

Great course and even better value!

While traveling to Pinehurst for the Us Open we decided to play a round, we stumbled across this course. We were very pleased with course. Beautiful greens and they rolled well, maintained fairways and great staff. I would recommend this course to anyone in the Raleigh area. Wish this course was closer to my home. The value was exceptional and for the money we could not believe we found this gem.

Beautiful and Challenging

The Neuse Golf Club was an absolute gem. The hilly-terrain was a huge challenge and it was very easy to have a tough lie if you missed the fairways, however all-in-all this place was as close to championship ready as you can get for the price! Would highly recommend to anybody considering booking a tee-time here.

The Neuse Rocks!

The Neuse is always in great shape. Greens punched a few weeks ago and there is no evidence they were. They were butter yesterday. With the rain and cool nights I have never seen it so beautiful although it's always better than most. Great bunker drainage so you're never hitting out of hard pan sand (unless it just rained of course but that won't last long).

Country club conditions for public play...Very Nice!! Absolutely gorgeous scenery, especially on the holes along the river. Worth every penny and they always have some sort of special. A definite favorite of mine.

Challenging course with beautiful scenery

If I lived closer to Clayton, I would play this course every weekend. It was that good. Everything about the course was excellent. The starter was the friendliest and most informative starter I've ever met. He was jovial, provided some tips about the course, and even cracked a few jokes. I don't think I've liked a starter before, but this guy was great. From that point on, this course was great. The course was in great shape, even though the greens had been aerified a few weeks earlier.

I will be back to play this course again.

Interesting Layout

This course has many elevation changes with two holes I considered 'goofy' in their layout and several with completely 'blind' tee shots and landing areas. Overall a good challenge from the white tees with my 17 handicap. The greens had recently been 'punched' and sanded and gave us a bit of a hand time with distance and speed control on the bent grass surface. A very picturesque course in very good/excellent condition for a public course. I enjoyed it!
