The Neuse Golf Club
About
Neuse Golf Club was ranked as one of the best public golf courses in North Carolina, second only to Pinehurst. The layout winds along the Neuse River across rolling hills that are dotted with rocky outcroppings. Towering, mature pines accent the landscape as well, especially along the fairways. Each hole provides a dramatically different challenge and unique scenery. Views of the winding river can be enjoyed on almost every hole. A variety of bunkers and doglegs are strategically placed throughout the golf course, demanding both accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The design closely follows the natural contours of the hilly terrain. Dramatic elevation changes guarantee that flat lies will be hard to find. The golf course is no easy feat but the beautiful scenery and interesting hole designs will appeal to any player.

The Neuse Rocks!
The Neuse is always in great shape. Greens punched a few weeks ago and there is no evidence they were. They were butter yesterday. With the rain and cool nights I have never seen it so beautiful although it's always better than most. Great bunker drainage so you're never hitting out of hard pan sand (unless it just rained of course but that won't last long).
Country club conditions for public play...Very Nice!! Absolutely gorgeous scenery, especially on the holes along the river. Worth every penny and they always have some sort of special. A definite favorite of mine.
Challenging course with beautiful scenery
If I lived closer to Clayton, I would play this course every weekend. It was that good. Everything about the course was excellent. The starter was the friendliest and most informative starter I've ever met. He was jovial, provided some tips about the course, and even cracked a few jokes. I don't think I've liked a starter before, but this guy was great. From that point on, this course was great. The course was in great shape, even though the greens had been aerified a few weeks earlier.
I will be back to play this course again.
Interesting Layout
This course has many elevation changes with two holes I considered 'goofy' in their layout and several with completely 'blind' tee shots and landing areas. Overall a good challenge from the white tees with my 17 handicap. The greens had recently been 'punched' and sanded and gave us a bit of a hand time with distance and speed control on the bent grass surface. A very picturesque course in very good/excellent condition for a public course. I enjoyed it!
Nice place to play golf
The course was very beautiful and it was really a wonderful day. The greens had just been aerated so that was a little rough, but other than that the greens were not bad. We had a group of 4 and we were moving at an average pace and we kept having to let singles play through so that was not as great. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the course was challanging which was a nice change. The price was well worth the money we just were not able to finish 2 of the holes due to single player traffice.
Like The Neuse
Aerated greens were difficult to putt but we expected that. Still always a very nice track to play.
Beautiful Golf Course!
What a gorgeous golf course. Other than the greens being recently aerated, the course was in great shape. Very challenging course for the beginning or intermediate golfer. Lost lots of balls in the woods! Would definitely play here again though.
Good course slow play
Need a ranger to move folks along. Group ahead of us had almost two hole gap behind group ahead of them and never considered letting us play thru. Created a logjam for us and every group behind us. Lots of frustration expressed by lots of customers/now former customers. It only takes one slow group to cause this and can b easily fixed by one ranger checking periodically.
Great course, great value
We played this course on a very warm afternoon. Although we waited on a few shots for the twosome in front of us, we finished in 3.5 hours. It is an excellent course in top notch condition made very affordable by LMG!
Great Fun
I have played 3 times. Always in excellent condition.Great atmosphere! Highly reccommend.
Only downfall this round was it was very slow (5 hr round).
My first hole-in-one!!!!
Needless to say my first experience at The Neuse GC was a great one! I made my first hole-in-one on hole #3. It was 169 yards and I used a 4-hybred. I was playing with a life long friend and was paired with another person who became a friend during this special round. The Neuse course conditions were oustanding and the special deal we got through Golfnow was great for a Friday noon tee time.
Terrible planning
They were having a tournament that day and when we got there for our 2:30 tee time. they had no carts available. there were probably 20-30 groups waiting for carts to come in so they could play. Members were using the carts to drive around and watch the tournament. Don't list tee times if you have a tournament!!! The course was wide open as everybody waited for carts, so we decided to walk the front nine. Checked in with the starter who sat comfortably in his cart (even though nobody was starting!!)
Worth the trip
Fun and challenging. Great scenery along the Neuse river and the course was in good shape. A month from now it will be in excellent condition. The par 3's are particularly challenging.
Great layout with some challenging holes
First time playing this course and it was worth the drive from fayetteville.
Fun, challenging, fair course to play
Great lay out, challenging for all levels. Played the blues and teamed up with two seniors that hit from the gold. Had a great time, great value.
I'll be there again!
The course is fantastic! Friendly staff, clean facility, and a great layout. The second 9 was a lot of fun!
The only downside: there was a lot "Ground Under Repair", especially on and around the edges of the greens.
For the price, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the course.
Have fun with hole #14, it's now one of my favorites!
Excellent value
The course is one of the best in the area in my opinion. Greens are very nice and roll true. Course layout is challenging but fair. For the rates you can get on golfnow, thi course is a bargain. I highly recommend anyone living in the triangle area play this course!
Excellent!
I played as a single and got a great rate through GolfNow. The course was empty so I didn't have to wait at all and finished quickly. Course was in great shape and everyone I met on the staff was very friendly. Will definitely play here again!
Excellent given course conditions
There were storms off and on all day and the fairways were soaked. That being said, the greens were still in great shape, as always.
Beautiful golf course... Hidden treasure
Truly beautiful and challenging golf course. Pace of play was very slow... Five hours and fifteen minutes, could use a ranger to keep things moving. Wonderful value and cannot wait to play it when it has a chance to green up!
Challenging but fun
Course was in good condition, greens were challenging and fun. Had a few slow groups ahead of us, but a great afternoon of golf
