Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course
About
Tanglewood in Clemmons is home to two 18-hole courses, the Championship Course and the Reynolds Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golf Digest has ranked the Reynolds Course as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. At 7,101 yards from the back tees, the golf course may lack the length of modern courses but it has all of the challenges. The sloping fairways are lined with trees and there are several doglegs that demand draws and fades from the back tees. The final hole is considered the most difficult at Tanglewood. This narrow, twisting par 4 climbs an uphill fairway guarded by a deep bunker on the left and mature woods on the right. You'll need a long, straight tee shot in order to have a chance at hitting the tiny, elevated green, which is also well protected by bunkers.

Good times!
I always have a great time on this course. The greens are in great shape and the course is in good condition. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. When I get the golf itch during the week, and want a reasonably priced greens fee this is the course I book.
Reynolds
Some crabgrass on several of the first greens was disappointing. Never pulled my driver as course is very old w tight fairways due to mature trees. Was a challenge for sure. Gladly go back again
Greens Fine... Fairways and Tees Rough
I want to start by saying that the overall layout of the course was interesting. The back side had a lot of character to it, with the front side being a bit more open. The greens rolled pretty well with only a few varying from the normal rolling conditions of the others. The fairways and tee boxes were my only complaint. Taking a peek at the Championship course, it was pretty evident that the Reynolds course has been neglected for a while. Most tee boxes seemed to be dying out with the remaining patches of grass providing for an uneven place to stand while swinging. The fairways seemed patchy, but this is fairly understandable given the winter damage that much of the triad experienced this year.
Overall, I feel that this course could be very interesting with healthy turf, and I will probably play it again next year to see if the grounds improve.
Lots of character
Fun layout and nice greens.
Good value for the money......especially with a hot tee time.
Optional
Slow greens and rough tees but a fun game with the elevation changes and herds of deer cheering you on from a beautiful landscape.
Great course for the price
Course in fairly good condition despite the area suffering from an acute case of Winter Rot.
Management has done a great job of sodding some fairways and working aggressively to bring the course up to speed.
Searching for fairway grass.....
As with many of the local Triad courses, Bermuda grass has yet to start filling in the fairways. Combined with a lack of rain and sparse grass, play is rather difficult. The greens however were in nice shape. The bunkers were primarily dirt (packed).

Reynolds course in decent shape. Greens are great-fast and true. Fairways on some holes spotty, 14 nearly dead. Overall good value and would definitely recommend it right now. Just do yourself a favor and call prior to booking a time via GolfNow to make sure there isn't a tournament going on. They tend to take up both courses and take all day.
Best value in the Triad
First time playing this course inside Tanglewood Park. Directions on GolfNow are wrong, so be sure to know before you go that the course is physically inside the park and requires a separate $2 admission but it's worth it.
Plenty of hills on this course so get the cart - especially since numer 10 is nearly a mile from the clubhouse turn. Also a fun course that will test your ball flight shaping with fades and draws. I will be back because if that!
Some repairs being made but the GREENS are exceptionally maintained. Staff was friendly, but could have spent a little more time explaining the layout once I told them it was my first time. A regular stepped up and helped explain how to get to 10.
Sunday afternoon round
Pace of play was slow because there was no starter or ranger and a five some was slowing the whole course down. Many calls were made to pro shop, and they finally sent the cart guy out to find out what was slowing things down but that was about three hours too late. Poor course management by the pro shop.
Course was in fair condition, greens slow but consistent.
slow play
Very slow no rangers on course, pro shop let 5 some play on Sunday
Course Marshals
Course was good, not one to like a lot of people watching me play golf. We encountered court marshals at least 3 times on each 9. They were nice and courteous but not sure sure why the reason for such oversight.
Quick
The app worked great. Within five minutes I was playing.
Front 9 gives you great views and confidence and the back 9 challenges you but its fair challenge.
Great location and history of the course, great lines and many options on every shot .
Good course
Great course to play . The greens were in great shape
The course needs to repair fairways
Weeds in the greens , fairways were bare , not all were in bad condition but if I was to tell somebody about the course I would probably tell them to play Homeplace for the same amount of money and it would be in better shape, I don't mind paying the big bucks for a round of golf but have the course ready, it's bad when you put the ball in the middle of the fairway and have to hit of dirt .
Good Value
Nice course. Played Championship Course prior day. Courses are different although both were designed by Jones. Reynolds course requires shot making on several holes A good value. I recommend a 2 day trip to Tanglewood if you get the opportunity.
A subtle players course.
While the crowd lines up to play the championship course, do yourself a favor and enjoy the Reynolds course. Score well on this course and you've played some good golf.
