Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course
About
Tanglewood in Clemmons is home to two 18-hole courses, the Championship Course and the Reynolds Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golf Digest has ranked the Reynolds Course as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. At 7,101 yards from the back tees, the golf course may lack the length of modern courses but it has all of the challenges. The sloping fairways are lined with trees and there are several doglegs that demand draws and fades from the back tees. The final hole is considered the most difficult at Tanglewood. This narrow, twisting par 4 climbs an uphill fairway guarded by a deep bunker on the left and mature woods on the right. You'll need a long, straight tee shot in order to have a chance at hitting the tiny, elevated green, which is also well protected by bunkers.

Friendly & Value for your dollar Course
Pro Shop staff were very welcoming and inviting. The young lady running the place will make us Canadians stop into Winston-Salem every time what with her welcoming personality. Made us all feel at home!
fun course to play
Management needs to let players know if the greens have been air raided of not. Enjoyed the course but would not have played if I had known the greens were air raided.
Incorrect tee times
I tried to book a tee time on golf now in which there was a 8:30, 9:00, 9:40, 11:00, 11:50, and more after 12:00 but I called the course and they said they were fully booked. The course and golf now are nowhere near being on the same page with their tee time organizing.
The front nine greens need attention
The course was in decent shape but the front nine was very spotty and bumpy was a little disappointing but playing golf on the 21 day of December who in their right mind can complain !!! God Blessed Us With Great Weather !!!!!
Reservation Fee
Loved the course, 19th hole etc.but the reservation fee is more than half the cost of our round of golf.
I am retired, a Senior and on a fixed income and I thought it is was a bit high which makes the golf deal not as attractive as it initially sounded...
The other 3 guys of our foursome are Seniors and felt the same way about the reservation fee...

Was it worth it?
Yes it was worth it because we had a special deal for $10.00 on golf now. It would NOT be worth it for $11.00.
The greens were in bad shape and for first time players at the Reynolds course the course had a lot of doglegs that left the players wondering where the green was. Very few places on the course where the ball was actually even with your feet. The ball was almost always below or above your feet.
Mostly Open Course
Nice course open fairways, with good protection around average to above average greens.
Terrible greens.
I have played this course a few times and the condition of the greens seem to get worse with each visit. The first green was covered with weeds and it gradually got better as we proceeded.
I definitely would not recommend.
Great Place
A few of the greens we bad, looked like crab grass was trying to take over. But over all great course, friendly staff, nice layout and we weren't rushed.
Slow play
A twosome had 5 groups waiting on a tee box while they goofed off on the green. No rangers to monitor this.
Bad greens
Greens was very poor, had weeds bad spots , I would have hated to pay more than I did the price was appropriate for the conditions
Solid course, but has seen better condition
Earlier this year, this course was in very good shape. Right now, it's not in as good a shape as it could be. Many of the greens on the front side have crabgrass growing inside them and the bunkers could really use some routine maintenance. We got a great deal for a last minute round so value-wise it was fine, but i would have hated to pay rack rate for the conditions we found.
Greens out of control
Tough mature course with lots of undulation. Tight fairways with overhanging limbs to further mess with your head. Unfortunately the greens were horrendous with crab grass out of control. This was not the case with the fairways which were in decent shape.
Good Course
Overal Good course. The greens on a few holes could use some work. Tight fairways and not much room to drive on hole. But good Course, friendly staff
Beautiful course
The natural way every hole fits with the country side. Deer running in the woods and every hole a challenge
8/22/2015 Reynolds course
Played here today. Bottom line, extremely disappointed with the overall course conditions. For such a place as Tanglewood, you'd figure they'd care a bit more about their name. It's sad really. Sure, some fairways looked good, some greens okay, but NOTHING had been mowed in what looked to be 3+ days. At least 50% of 95% of the greens were overtaken by crabgrass. I got it for $10 but wouldn't pay $20 to play it. Go elsewhere until they get this fixed. It's not worth it.
Poor Conditions
Several years ago I played the Reynolds Course quite frequently. I was always impressed with the design and the conditions. My son has recently started playing, so I thought I would show him what a nice course it was. The couse is set in a beautifully wooded area with abundant wildlife (Lots of deer). Its a nice layout with some very tight tree lined fairways. Unfortunately the condition is has gone downhill. The greens have alot of crabgrass, but roll well in spots where there is not any. The fairways and the tee boxes are in poor condition. In the rough there are some overgrown areas that are quite poorly maintained. The bunkers are awful...mostly clay dirt. It is a shame that Tanglewood has let this course get in this poor of condition. My son was not impressed and does not want to play it again.
Poor Maintenance
Greens are infested with goose grass. Greens are burned out in many places. Little rough, just narrow fairways and then woods that are not cleared of any limbs, leaves, etc. You can see all the income at Tanglewood golf goes to maintaining the Championship course and little to the :everyday" golfers course.
