Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course
About
Tanglewood in Clemmons is home to two 18-hole courses, the Championship Course and the Reynolds Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golf Digest has ranked the Reynolds Course as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. At 7,101 yards from the back tees, the golf course may lack the length of modern courses but it has all of the challenges. The sloping fairways are lined with trees and there are several doglegs that demand draws and fades from the back tees. The final hole is considered the most difficult at Tanglewood. This narrow, twisting par 4 climbs an uphill fairway guarded by a deep bunker on the left and mature woods on the right. You'll need a long, straight tee shot in order to have a chance at hitting the tiny, elevated green, which is also well protected by bunkers.

I have played here before and I love it!
Very good course for the money. Very friendly staff.
Very nice course. Excellent staff. Personable and helpful. Great value.
My wife and I really enjoyed our round. The fairways and greens were excellent. Lots of bunkers and lots of fun! This was our first time and we wll certainly be back. Best public course we have ever played. Everyone made our experience the best. The staff was genuinely friendly and so helpful. We really didn't expect the course to be so pristine for what it cost to play. Absolutely great value for the money. We are seniors and the course was the perfect challenge for us. I will encourage all my player friends to come here to play ! Thanks for a perfect outing guys.
the greens were very bad
the fairways was in good shape, but the greens was terrible
disappointed drove 1 hour to play
Excellent course, Great value!
I regularly play at Tanglewood Championship and would rank it top 3 courses in Winston Salem.
Nice little challenge
Very good course. I ve played here a few times and the fairways have come in very nice. Greens in great condition too. Course is looks open but the 99 bunkers make it tougher than it looks. Also make sure you know the pin placement, many of the greens have a couple tiers. Played the front nine in about 90 minutes as a threesome back nine slowed down but was not too bad. Rangers and club house staff are very friendly.
great price for the money
Course in excellent condition. Bunkers do have various amount of sand in them, so a little inconsistant. But besides that excellent golf course to test your skills
Staff very friendlyand Course was very tough
I feel if you are going to advertise you have 99 bunkers that you should have #1 good sand and not red clay looking sand with peebles in it. I have 4 rock marks on my wedge after playing out of the bunkers. #2 spread out scheduling of tee times better, we had to wait over 10 minutes in between shots due to course congestion.
Bunkers everywhere
Played this course mid March on the way back from Myrtle. Scenic, challenging course, hilly, lots of bunkers. Fairways not completely green, but playable, greens slopey, but smooth.
Many bunkers in play, yes I hit quite a few of them, mostly got out OK.
BTW there are 2 courses, we played the 'championship' one.
Super challenge
The championship course at Tanglewood has always been a great challenge for your golf game. We found the course in amazingly good condition for February and the pace of play was fine.
Nice facility, very enjoyable and challenging layout. Classic Robert Trent Jones layout .
Played the last day of 2013 so it was winter golf. I was paired up with a local threesome and the first thing two of them mentioned were sandtraps...for good reason. This is a Robert Trent Jones track and was a pleasure and a challenge. Traps were something to be aware of both defining fairways as well as the green complexes.
The course was still in good shape even for December. Greens were receptive and rolled true but were not terribly quick.
Most greens were broken into two or three sections with considerable elevation changes between sections so you want to find the correct section.
Pace of play was fine. Staff was courteous and helpful.
Good layout with miix of holes. Par threes were generally challenging. My only complaint was the gap between the Blue tees at 6600 yards and the White tees at 6000. It kind of felt like you had the simple option of a considerable test. For this type of course and with the the classic Robert Trent Jones runway tees (some had to be 60 yards long) there was room for something between 6600 and 6000 for a intermediate challenge.
Excessive amount of bunkers
I believe every course should have some type of signature to itself and heavy bunkers would be one, heavy amount of water would be another, etc... However; I feel this course was a little over the top in terms of bunkers. I have played at nearly 200 courses around the U.S. including Hawaii and have never experienced this amount before.
The course may want to consider reducing some around the greens, maybe make some into a grass type bunker. The worst part is I played on a day that it rained all day prior so the bunkers were in poor condition which only made the course in poor condition because this course signature is bunkers.
Just my opinion, I tried the course but probably won't come back, I may try the Reynolds course.
This course is beautiful
When you stand st tee you can't see the beauty of greens but when you attack the green you can see the beauty of greens
every greens are so beautiful
Championship Course
Was harrased by ranger who approached our group from behind and asked us what the hold up was, we were keeping up with group in front of us who I thought was maintaining an acceptable pace of play (4 hrs) for weekend play, also another ranger would stop directly in front of us while we were hitting, this was very annoying.
