Tanglewood Golf Club - Reynolds Course

About
Tanglewood in Clemmons is home to two 18-hole courses, the Championship Course and the Reynolds Course, both designed by Robert Trent Jones. Golf Digest has ranked the Reynolds Course as one of the top 75 public courses in the country. At 7,101 yards from the back tees, the golf course may lack the length of modern courses but it has all of the challenges. The sloping fairways are lined with trees and there are several doglegs that demand draws and fades from the back tees. The final hole is considered the most difficult at Tanglewood. This narrow, twisting par 4 climbs an uphill fairway guarded by a deep bunker on the left and mature woods on the right. You'll need a long, straight tee shot in order to have a chance at hitting the tiny, elevated green, which is also well protected by bunkers.

Good Greens
The Reynolds course has an interesting layout through dense forests. Many holes on the short side but they're super tight so bring your a-game. Greens were in great shape...fairways and rough not so much. However for the price it was a very good value and I'd have no reservations coming back to play again..
Reynolds course is a fun and enjoyable experience
This course is always challenging and a fun layout. I recommend it to anyone.
Customer service
I love playing this course and with Golf Now the value can't be beat. I especially want to thank Chad who works in the pro shop..I was driving to my 11:50 tee time when I got stuck in road construction and gave The pro shop a call to let them know I may be a little late. Chad answered the phone and when I explained my situation he told me not to worry at he understands and he would get me on the with no problems when I got there.. I really appreciate that kind of excellent customer service on such a great course. Got to play with two other guys who were great and had a overall wonderful day.
Green hands...
I had a great experience today. That's not saying too much as I picked up golf again after 15 years. So my review will not carry as strong a someonewho plays a lot.
The course was laid out nicely and challenging. I was surprised how forgiving it was, remember 1st time in a long time.
The surroundings were beautiful and there was plenty of wild life around. There was a family of deer that put a stop to my play for a few minutes as they refused to leave the fairway.
The only downside was the coloring of my hands. I guess painting the greens is a new thing..... Oh yea...the greens and placement of the holes....Maybe next time...if the greens are going to be that fast....you shouldn't put the on the edges of big slopes. Moe than once I exchanged a 4 foot put for a30 foot put.
All in all..... Great time...great course....great people.....all except the fat×$$ in the proshop who decided he was too important to ring up a drink for the common man.
Yea I got my $ worth.......19 over......
Excellent Course
Reynolds course was traditional and challenging. Greens were in great shape. Fairways need some work. But were good.. I traveled from RDU to play this course and I would do it again.
Bad drainage
Course is normal, don't like the cart path only when rainfall was 2 dys past..
Nice layout but lots of weeds in fairways. Bumpy greens!
Tight fairways with several blind tee shots. Bunkers were inconsistent, some with white fluffy sand and others with red clay sand. Significant changes in elevation on several holes, 2 or 3 clubs. Lots of dogleg tee shots, few straight ones. Lots of uneven lies on approach shots. Probably either love it or hate it!
I love to play this course. Has tight fairways several water holes that are in play. I play it about once a month.
Very enjoyable course to play
Tanglewood Reynolds is a very enjoyable course to play challenging but fair. For FEB and the amount of rain recently the course is in very good condition. Greens role true, bunkers are well groomed and playable. The grounds crew does a good job maintaining these courses.
Save your money
This was the first time playing this course and the last!! The greens were bumpy and that was the best part of the course. This is probably the worst layout and course conditions I’ve ever played and I’ve played a lot of winter golf. I’m just sick I wasted my money on this course when I could have played the Championship course for $20 more. I paid $25 on a hot deal and would have rather burned the money and stayed home!!! OMG WOW WHAT A WATSE OF TIME!!!
Beautiful, but challenging course
Course is beautiful, but very challenging. Only the second time playing this course. Lots of obstacles (trees, bunkers, etc...). Course is very well maintained and very friendly staff. Will definitely play again.
plinko putting
course had just aerated/sanded the greens, but they haven't (& still haven't) reported it to golfnow.com. nobody likes playing plinko
Greens are great but slow..cart paths are HORRIBLE..every thing else is average at best..
Course is in disrepair. UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Not sure why this course is collectively rated at 4 stars, the layout was true to R.T. Jones style courses with well placed bunkers and narrow doglegs that cause you to tee off with many different clubs. For a course on GolfNow to be rated at 4 stars with was absolutely the worst 4 star course I have played. Fairways were missing grass and aren't watered the way they are supposed to be. The championship course that hosted the 1974 PGA Championship is closed for a full renovation, they said it would be open the spring of 2019. At that point the Reynolds course will be partially renovated. The reynolds course had nice greens but that was about it, very hard tee boxes fairways were bare. I would NOT play this course until after the 2019 season, but if the Championship course is open the beginning of 2019 don't think about it just play it. This place has tons of potential just not currently worth paying $30, if the hot rate was $10 I would give it a go but I won't be back until the changes are made, they will be putting several millions into it so it is exciting. SO BE WARNED, THIS COURSE IS NOT WORTH THE COST OF ADMISSION AT THE CURRENT TIME.
Good 1st 9, disappointing back
Great front 9, good condition, no pace problems. Made the turn, back 9 conditions weren’t great, wet spots and concrete tee boxes. A 2some of kids came up speeding through groups behind us and caught us by the end, hitting shots while we’re on the fairway. Disappointing end to an otherwise great 14 holes.
