Almost you ...? Photo submitted by Geno7176732 on 04/26/2019
Appeared as though no maintenance beyond the bare minimum was done. The course was littered with trash after a heavy rain. Bunkers had not been touched 2 days after the rain. Several dangerous spots on the cart path.
Greens healing - weekends overpriced for conditions
Greens are healing from March aeration - several were quite bumpy.
Doesn't look like they're even trying to restore grass on tees. Many tees are almost completely bare.
Multiple signs of general neglect - sides of tee boxes unmowed, worn/faded flags.
Weekend rates are way high in light of conditions.
A decent value if you can find a deal at $30 or less. Avoid at published wekend rates until conditions improve
Fun track and nice experience in Pro Shop but...
They needed starters and rangers working to prevent the hole skipping and singles mixing in which greatly reduced the pace of play. When we made it to first tee-box the two of us in my group immediately got behind a single waiting to tee off that was following a twosome. Two other guys pulled up and we invited them to play with us (which they did) but after 2 holes we noticed a single flying up behind us and we were already waiting every hole.
New policy on weekend should be NO SINGLES...pair up with someone and enjoy the day instead of being frustrated by the pace of play YOU are causing.
Greens
For whatever reason the greens had just been aerated. Made putting very difficult all day.
Not too terrible for January.
The course was in decent shape considering the 12” of snowfall it received the week before. Course layout forces irons off of almost every tee but if you’re in the fairways, scores can be low. Pace of play can be an issue if there isn’t a ranger to speed things along. Regular rates are a little overpriced for off-season and current course conditions. Overall average.
Course in good shape relative to the weather we encountered last week (6+inches of snow). Cart path only but very few areas where ball plugged/
It got worse
I have not played this course since two years ago due to its bad condition. I plyed the course on Dec 23 2017.
I know I cannot expect much in winter golf but this course condition was far worse than most courses in RTP area.
Greens were wet (had rain 3days prior to my round), many wet spots on fairways. Not due to its wetness, it was just bad in overall.
Growing on me
Generally, this is not my favorite course but for the golf now price, it is growing on me. Course condition is pretty good for winter play. Will come back and play again.
Tough Love
The Crossings is a beautiful and well maintained course but it can be very unforgiving. You need to hit your targets, especially on the back nine, if you hope to score. The greens were fast but true. The fairways were in great shape. The staff is very friendly. I have played here over 20 times and I keep coming back for the challenge.
A Good Day @ the Crossing
Usually, the layout of the Crossing doesn't suit my eyes, but I really enjoyed getting out for a round with my father-in-law right after Thanksgiving. The rate on Golfnow was terrific; pace of play was better than I thought (finished in 4.25 hours) given how packed it sort of was. Staff was friendly and the course condition was really good for November/December.
Nice course
Came down from PA for holiday and played course for the first time. Very nice layout and staff was friendly. I will definitely play again next year when we come back.
Nice Winter Golf Course
Having played The Crossings many times since its opening, but not in the last six months, I was again pleased with course conditions. Bermuda grass goes dormant quite early and the appearance of brown grass can be off putting, let me assure you the grounds crew here does a fine job of keeping the course both playable and fun. The greens were running more smooth and faster than expected. We played our round, after teeing off at 8:40, in less than four hours; as it should be.
I was also pleased to learn from the pro shop they have a 'senior' rate for players beyond the age of 60 years. The lady in the snack bar was friendly and served one of the best hot dogs I have eaten on a golf course outing.
When you are in the Raleigh / Durham area of North Carolina and looking for a fine golf course to play at a fair price and in a time frame not taking the whole day to complete, take a trip to The Grossings at Grove Park.
The hard candy was great
Have played this course many times thru the years. Was in great shape for having hardly any rain. Great layout. Got a great hot deal and myself and fellow retirees enjoyed a fun round!
