Pace of play unbearable
Tee time was noon. Showed up at 11:40 but had to wait until 12:30 to tee off. At least 1-2 groups waiting on each tee box every hole with no ranger around. Took 3 hours for front 9! Left after 13th couldn't deal with it any longer. First and last time playing this course.
good course
Course was in good shape, back 9was challenging . Ot had rained heavy the day before, but the course dried well
The Crossings Tough but Fun!
I've played The Crossings 3 times. Two times on Cart path only. You need to be able to keep your shots close to the cart path unless you enjoy the walk. Trouble is everyone is enjoying the walk and the rounds get a little stretched out. During normal weather (We sometimes see) this is one of the top courses around the Raleigh-Durham Area. The course lay-out is tougher than it looks. It is a pretty course with a good snack/lunch bar in the clubhouse. The staff is always friendly. You can find some very good bargains early in the spring in the pro shop. The only negative is the course needs a yardage book.
If you haven't golfed here you can find yourself in trouble quickly. There are quite a few bends in the fairway and if you shoot left when you should have shot right, good luck making par. If you have played the course once though, you will want to play it again. It is fun from any tee position.
Great day
We always enjoy playing The Crossings. The course is beutiful and always well maintained. Greens were challenging as usual, large with lots of slope, but not too fast because of recent weather. The only thing I would do differently is wait an extra day or two after rain. There were several parts of the fairways that were still pretty wet. All in all, a great day and a course I would highly recommend.
Good value
Very nice layout. I'm sure it is very nice during peak season. Bunkers could have been in better shape but overall great experience
Very good condition
This was my first time playing there. I found it pretty challenging, especially the 17th hole. I believe, though, that after a couple more rounds there, I should do better, never the less, we had a great time.
Nice course
This course was a challenge if you can't hit it straight. No need for long ball hitters here! Could play better now that I know the course. Enjoyed the experience and would play here again. The 12th hole is beautiful.
Value
Crossings is a good value -- especially in late autumn. Usual slow play of weekend hackers has given way to a less-than-crowded course with greens which still offer speed and slope.
Nice Course
Nice, solid course. Played by myself and got around in 2.5 hours. Course wasn't particularly difficult - definitely more target golf than many courses in the Triangle (big hitters will only be hitting driver on a small number of holes). One complaint is that there were many leaves on the fairway. I know this is fall golf, and some leaves are unavoidable - but I lost a ball on a fairway that went right into a pile of leaves and I couldn't find it! That shouldn't happen!
Real nice condition.
For a public course, this course was in great condition from tee to green. Greens were just a little bumpy from all the traffic, but rolled true. Hard to believe the course was so empty - it was such a beautiful day. As a result, pace of play was great. We caught up to a threesome at the 16th tee and they offered for us to play through, but with only 3 holes to play, we decided to just slow down and enjoy the walk.
Good course/great value.
Crossings has a great course layout, with two very different 9 hole sides. Well designed holes provides a good mix of challenging holes and birdie holes. I'll play it again.
Good course for the Golf Now rate.
I had heard this was a short course so my partner and I (12 Handicaps) played it from the back tees. There were a few 3-wood tee shots but the narrow tree lined fairways from the back required good shot pkacement. Greens were in good shape, course is very natural and scenic with numerous water features. Thanks for a good rate on an enjoyable golf challenge. I would definitely play this couse again just for another chance at the 170 yd peninsula par 3.
Pretty good value for the money
I've played here several times and the course and the greens are in pretty good shape. We played on a very wet day this last time and the course drained reasonably well, however, it does seem to hold water a little more than some other courses in the area. One big draw back is that the course does not have a driving range or any area to at least hit a few before heading to the tee box. As for the course set up, this has several challenging holes especially in the middle of the front and back nines, including a few long par 4s with fairly tight fairways, however, it is a very manageable and playable course that will reward you with good shots. Overall, this course is a good play for the green fees, especially if you can get a reduced rate.
Fun course with challenges
A few of the holes need attention but the course was maintained pretty well / we had a Rainey day and the greens were very soft
Very enjoyable and challenging course. A fine day!
The course was in nice shape in spite of rain the entire day and night before playing. The par threes were varied and required different shots every hole. The terrain is hilly and aesthetically pleasing. I will play this course more.
a very interesting and challenging coursefor a 20 handicap playing it for the 1st time.
This course requires good course management to select the right club and location for the 2nd shot.It is generally forgiving off the tee as room for slice/hook or down club to keep the ball in play.It may be I'm used to Indiana course or the weather effects the distance I can hit my ball but with the uphill runs and elevated greens require me to use at least 2 clubs more to go the same distance as i do up North(5 iron here vs. 7 iron up North). This slope on the greens also requires a stronger run at the hole to get to it.Once I found a groove for doing the above, the course was alot more fun to play. I will be playing it again when back in Cary.
This is great course for target golf.
If you want to play one of the most fun course in the triangle , this is the course for you. If you can shoot in the 80's here you can play anywhere. Give it a shoot .
