Lockwood Folly Country Club

Well taken care of course and a tough but fair course if you hit your shots.

We played in perfect conditions (80 deg; sunny, light winds). with 9:50 tee time. the course is narrow, with tree-lined fairways, and water on most holes. Challenging, but the variety of tees enables golfers of varying skill levels to be able to play. the only downside was an extremely slow foursome two groups ahead playing in a tournament that resulted in our 18-hole round completion time of 4:45 (we took no break at the turn).

It is a tight course, but great conditions. Most greens protected by sand, approach game needs to be dialed in to score well here.

Pretty much empty. Got there early. Cart attendant very friendly. Dan. Pro shop attendant provided adequate service. Think he should have suggested a purchase of range balls as I forgot and had to go back. I informed him that I had not played there in ten years. His response was that it was in great shape. And that the greens were great. That was definitely not the case. Sand traps were all raked and visually attractive, but they were very hard . Fairways for the most part were well maintained.. I found it odd that it was cart path only on the ninth hole with no apparent reason and my tee shot was mid fairway but there was a huge bunker with great length between the cart path and my ball. The quickest way to my ball was through the sand trap. No food/ beverage on the turn..Finishing hole was nice. To the parking lot. Met by another cart attendant who was very nice. Wanted to have a post round libation in their restaurant and was told that it was closed.

Course reasonable condition. Greens roll nice. A few had patches or bare spots. Would recommend.

First 2 or 3 holes, fairways and greens were not in great shape but conditions improve after that.

Nice layout and great staff, would do it again.

Greens are in terrible shape, areas of the fairway cut out. It’s a great course when it’s in good shape, but I would avoid for a few months.

The greens needed some love and attention. You don’t hit clubhouse on the turn and I never saw a beverage cart so make sure you stock up before you go. Bring bug spray!

We play Lockwood every fall and spring when we visit the area. It has improved so much since they changed the greens a few years ago but today it unfortunately was not in good shape. Not sure what happened but I don’t think any green was in good shape. Fairways were sparse and tees not great. Hopefully things will get back to where they were soon.

Nice course. Well maintained. Lovely neighborhood. Friendly staff. Jam from out of state but usually get a round or two in with every visit. Good value for your money.

It was a great day for golf. The back side had been punched and sanded so the greens on the back were not ideal. They gave us a nine-hole rain check. We enjoyed the course.
