Lockwood Folly Country Club
About
Lockwood Folly Country Club is a superbly conditioned, semi-private, member owned "hidden gem". The course is located at the confluence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Lockwood Folly River, providing golfers with breathtaking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hard- woods and the solitude of nature. Tree lined, nonparallel fairways winding through hardwoods and pine afford a sense of seclusion while challanged with championship golf.

Great Greens
The greens are in great shape. Even though the greens had been airified in the last few weeks they putted very good. Play it if you have the opportunity.
June 2019
It started with a nice meeting by the staff at the car with cart, very pleasant gentleman and he informed us of our tee time and offered advice if wanted on the does and don’t of the course. Once we began the tees, fairways, and bunkers were nice. The greens were bumpy and slow. Overall a nice experience.
Great value
Greens were punched recently but very enjoyable and well worth the Golf Now price.
Fantastic if you don’t putt
I love the layout of this course. It’s a fun and challenging course to play. The course was in pretty good condition with the notable exception of the greens. They are mostly sand, and were the same last year. That’s sad because the first time we played here in 2014, the whole course was in great shape.
One sad indicator of the level of care for the course was the worst sod job I’ve ever seen. Two inch gaps between sod rolls and sod just sitting on old turf leaving a two inch ledge. Brutal.
Love the place and it has a great view for a post game beverage, but the quality of work being done on the course is a sign that it will not be improving soon.
Excellent layout - with some fabulous views of the intra coastal waterway. New Bermuda greens were very good with good pace. - Be careful on downhillers. Challenging but fair Par 3's. Hit every club in my bag. Only suggestion would be to firm up the waste bunkers.
Nice course
Arrived at the course 15 minutes late spoke with Eric on the phone was very accommodating and understood the traffic problem . Spoke to a different gentleman in the pro shop when we arrived apologize and explain we were first timers at his course And supplied no information about the course and had asked where the first he was
Car Jennemann was not very helpful and we found out on the third hole our cooler was not full of ice on an 82 degree day But the most frustrating part was not being told the ninth hole does not come back to the clubhouse so for the last 13 holes never saw a beverage cart person
Greens are still very bumpy but tease and fairways are in pretty good shape
Love ve this course
This course is great
Still winter rules. The course needs to be overseeded then it would be better in the spring
Slow play
We were 2 playng behind a very slow 33 who wwould not let us through.and thheree were many holes empty ahead of them. Very frustrating!!
There should be a Marshall
Ok course
The course was in good shape. Greens were in good shape. A few thin spots but mostly good. Fairway was in decent condition. Some thin spots. Bunkers did not have much sand in them. Maybe because of the wet conditions? Lots of dogleg left. Not a course for driver. Have to hit several irons off the tee. Did not like layout. Some may like it but just not me personally. Also cart paths in terrible shape and all the bathrooms were locked. Course surrounded by houses and #9 does not come back to the clubhouse so this could be an issue. Course definitely not for high handicaps.
Lockwood Folly - Out of the way, but a Great Layout
Very good layout., fair yet challenging. It’s winter, course was drier than others I’ve played here recently. Most of the course is right out there in front of you. Buy using the pictures on the scorecard, and my range finder I found it easy to figure out how to play it.
Looks like they don’t overfeed, so things were less green than others, but still conditions weee good, bunkers were consistent, greens rolled true. Decent speeds, not overly fast though.
Practice range is grass, tees were up, and with a short range of around 250 yards it was best not to warm up with the driver.
Staff I dealt with were friendly. Starter gave me good tips on how to play holes 4&5.
I hope to play it again. It was worth the trip.
A North Carolina gem
We played this course after a significant rainfall the previous evening and were restricted to cart paths for six holes (plus par threes, of course). Despite less than perfect conditions, our round was an enjoyable experience. However, this course is probably not going to be a favourite of ladies due to a fairly high slope rating, some significant carries over marsh, etc.
We had to travel for about an hour to this course from our winter residence, but travel time is the only factor keeping me from making it one of my regular plays.
The Folly
An interesting layout with lots of variety. Course condition was okay for February with some tight lies near the greens. Greens were in good condition.
Fun to play
Fun course to play, variety of different golf holes. Brand new clubhouse with good food. Staff was good.
Good course
Average course with a lot of damage from the hurricane still being worked on. Good afternoon deal prices.
