Lockwood Folly Country Club
About
Lockwood Folly Country Club is a superbly conditioned, semi-private, member owned "hidden gem". The course is located at the confluence of the Intracoastal Waterway and the Lockwood Folly River, providing golfers with breathtaking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hard- woods and the solitude of nature. Tree lined, nonparallel fairways winding through hardwoods and pine afford a sense of seclusion while challanged with championship golf.

Have played this course several times. Good layout.it is all warm weather grass so in mid march it is in poor condition. Many areas in the rough are bare of grass with pine roots invasive in playing areas. All grass was dormant. I won't play it again unless may or after.
Fun Day
The course is very scenic but difficult. Definitely need to use course management skills. The starter was eager to share her knowledge of the course to the point I was getting tired of listening. Overhaul a beautiful course I will play again.
Challenging but a great track!
We had a good round. Fairways are not over seeded and greens are slow. Be prepared to clean and place.

Lockwood Folly is a hidden gem. The course sits along the marshlands the views from the clubhouse are spectacular. The staff is very friendly, the course layout is enjoyable and challenging. The fairways are generous but have strategically placed bunkers. The greens are in excellent shape. I played this course with males and my wife and everyone enjoyed their round.
Decent challenging layout at a reasonable price
The course is a fairly challenging layout for most golfers. There is plenty of water (hazards) to satisfy anyone. A few holes are quirky and its better to have played the course a few times to navigate it more easily. Greens varied in speed but it was still early for the Bermuda to be evenly growing and cut (late Feb). Same thing for the overall conditions of fairways and rough. I would recommend the course as it was a good value and enjoyable.
nice course people skills of the staff a little lacking
course was very nice, employees from the bag drop guy to the bar tender after the round were at best uninterested at worse just unfriendly...There were not a lot of people playing at the time we teed at noon. bag drop guy asked me 5 times over a course of 15 minutes what my group name was. We were the only group there. we had to find someone in the pro shop to pay no one around. figure out the staff an this would be a great place to play
Highly Recommend
Excellent Staff, great course, very enjoyable experience.

A nice layout, several lay up shots and water throughout the course. The greens were pristine and the staff was very helpful.
Loved the course
Excellent layout, with very challenging fairways.
New greens are fast and in great shape.
Views are spectacular.
Friendly staff and even met some members while dining afterwards we who made the end of our day all the better
The new clubhouse has a a million dollar setting.
All and all a great day. Worth the trip down from our vacation in Wilmington to play.
We love this course
We have played Lockwood for many years and always enjoyed it. They have just redone the greens and they are awesome!!! Smooth and true. This year we played 6 different courses and Lockwood was by far the best. The staff is so pleasant and accommodating that it is a great experience to play there.
Pin Positions Way Off
First the new greens are smooth and super fast.
I was told by the starter and there was a sign on the first tee that the Pin Position was #3. The golf cart had a chart and everything was going as set up on the chart until the 7th hole. Then the pins that were suppose to be in Front were in back and those in back were in front.. Very frustrating.
First time back in many many years
I played Lockwood Folly years ago on a trip to the then Dupont World Amateur. 3 of us who were up for the now Myrtle Beach World Amateur played Lockwood Folly after playing 27 holes at Carolina National so I was pretty beat by the time we got here. Still very enjoyable course. Tight, tree lined course with recently redone greens. Greens were in good shape but understandably a bit slow and very hard as expected with them being new.
Some of the tee boxes are not in great shape because of the lack of air circulation with all the trees but it did not cause any problems. Overall condition of the course was very good.
They are operating out of a trailer as they are in the process of building a new clubhouse. Plans for it look great.
Green Carpet
Fairways were the best i've seen in a really long time. Like green carpet, So much so that i had a hard time finding any other divits in the fairway. Greens were in descent shape, Tee boxes were So So. It rained my entire round so put a slight damper on it. Some good par 5's, Sets up good for a draw of the tee. Overall a little expensive for what it is but its a nice course.
Scenic and Challenging
Course was in good shape...greens were fine. The front 9 seems to be a bit more scenic than back...except for 18 which has a nice view of the Lockwood River.
Also on a hot day there were marshals with ice and water during the day.
Thot the cost was a bit much for the course. Overall, pace was good and course has enough tees to cover the advanced and novice golfer.
$59 (full rate)???
Didn't bother notification of punched greens. Turn house closed (doesn't come back to 9), no cart girl and 85 degrees at 8a.
This is a no play (until fixed) with other great courses around for the same/ better dollar.
Low country style
This is what expectations low country course to be... Late spring summer or fall the conditions have to be superb
Tight, Challenging Course, Poorly Manicured/Maintained
Could be a decent course but everything was dormant and the greens were terrible. Unless you hit your tee shots on a straight line, bring about 2 dozen balls.
This course has lost all his great features
Probably due to lack of clients this golf course does not overseed for the winter months. The whole course is brown, fairways, rough.and most of the tee offs except the par 3's.This course used to be my favorite course 10 years ago.Its lost everything.Even the greens hae been painted with hardly any grass. You also get weird bounces because of the conditions.
