Just below average conditions, very slow play.
Local business mini tournament was cause of slow play. Front 9 was the issue because the local Ryobi employees had mini 9 hole tournament. Often found 4 to 5 twosomes on same hole waiting. Course was in fair conditions. Most fairways have severe slope due to the being very hilly, they are also very fast. You will need to play the the terrain to keep it in play. Not much rough to slow the ball down anywhere on the course. Greens are also very fast and any minor stroke imperfections will find your ball far from hole or off the green. Chances are slim I would play here again, being from out of town or if I was in area.
I arrived just before the pro-shop opened. The starter was late as a result of an accident on the 85. The maintenance fellow let me go ahead. The course is in great shape. It will only get better as he season goes on. I started playing at Brookstone 4 years ago. The course has gotten better each year and has become my preferred place to play during the week.
Beautiful day for a round
Staff in the pro shop was friendly and encouraging when we made the turn. The pro shop is not expansive, but quaint. Plenty of refreshments available. The cart was in fair shape. Most of the tee boxes were very firm, but in decent shape. Some sparseness in the grass if you weren't straight up the middle in the fairway, but not unreasonable. A few of the bunkers we found on our round could use some sand as they played more like an inch of sand on concrete so be aware. The greens have some ball mark damage, but were mostly decent and were laid out well. Clearly work is being done to improve the course so I only see this place getting better as the season progresses. There is plenty of practice space with a good priced range and practice greens to use to prepare for your round. With the price of golf these days I'd say this place definitely has the bang for the buck. I would recommend this facility and will likely return.
No red stakes
Course was in decent shape. There were a couple of holes that were not in good shape at all though. Number 12 is a par 5 and the fairway was terrible and the tee box was terrible. You get a lot of crazy bounces on this golf course and I don't remember seeing any area staked off except out of bounds stakes. If you are playing in a tournamand you hit a ball off line you would have to go back to the tee box and hit again because once again there is no areas that are staked off on this golf course. I believe number 16 is a par 3 and if you hit it just a little bit right off the green you go into a marshy area which is fine but once again there is nothing staked off so you would have to go back and hit from the tee box again. I mean for a golf course that has such crazy bounces on a lot of holes how hard would it be to put out some stakes.
Pictures shown were another time
Utter garbage! The conditions are some of the worst I’ve seen. It’s as if they do t even have a grounds crew. Also, the pace of play was very, very poor. It took 2 1/2 hrs and we only played 6 holes. After completing the 12th hole our group left, which was at the 3 1/2 hr mark. I would recommend anywhere else in Anderson. THIS COURSE is not the round of golf anyone wants.
Love the course
Was a great place to play we rented the scooter and that was a fun experience
Frustrating experience
I made a tee time through the app just to arrive at the course to discover there was a tournament going on. I was told to begin on the back nine and as I made the turn there was a traffic jam at the #1 tee box. My last nine holes was a waiting game behind the tournament. I feel the course overbooked for this particular day.
Sir, I apologize for this. You should've been sent off the front 9 and there would've been zero issue. In fact, there was even a note that management left on the your tee time instructing the staff to do this. I apologize for the wait on the back 9 and we'll ensure this doesn't happen again.
Frustrated
I was told to tee off on #10. I made the turn only to find a jam on the first tee box. There was also a tournament so pace of play for the last 9 holes were at a snails pace. The course had no starter and showed poor management and lack of leadership by not allowing those of us to maintain pace of play. I love the course and the staff is friendly but this was a frustrating experience.

I don’t think they want visitors
The pro shop let 2 guys out in front of us without a tee time. Which would had been fine except they played 5 balls each off the tee. Then they hunted down each errant shot. They backed the whole course up and could have cared less. Two groups around us bailed on the back 9. The course itself is burnt out and nobody fixes ball marks.
Oh no! We're very sorry to hear this. We absolutely want and value every customer and visitor. There's no reason a 2-some should've been backing up the whole course. If ever that happens, please just give the pro shop a call and we can fix it! As for the ball marks and course, when you visited we were at the very end of winter dormancy, so the course had lots of play already but was still dormant. We are working on golfer education to get them to help with ball marks, but as soon as things start growing again, which they are now, all of the play from winter will be grown-over. We anticipate the best course conditions this year since the start of the golf course and we hope you'll give us another shot soon! Thank you for your support!
Brookstone
Brookstone should not be allowed on Golf Now. The subdivision of high end homes is awesome the tennis court area is fine, the course is a disaster. There are negligible funds being spent on upkeep, and obviously it's been going on a very long time. What a shame.
We're sorry you didn't enjoy the course this time out! When you visited, we were at the end of dormancy and were getting tons of play. As soon as things start growing again, we anticipate some of the best course conditions that Brookstone has ever had in 2023. Our maintenance budget is the highest its ever been at over $1,000,000 this year. Unfortunately when you visited the grass was still dormant and there's really nothing we can do about that. Brookstone is known for having some of the best conditions of any course in the area, and we were GolfNow's most popular Upstate Golf Course in 2022. We hope you'll come see us again when things green up a bit, some green grass will make all the difference!
Great service and smooth putting greens!
I always have a blast playing this course. Fairways are mostly forgiving for fade players like myself. Nick in the pro shop is a super cool guy and always makes me feel at home 10/10 would recommend!
Great course but fix your divots
The people that play the course just need to repair their green divots and I would have bought a membership there on the spot.
Great hidden course
This is one of the better hidden courses in the greater Greenville/Anderson area. Always able to get a decent tee time. The staff are very friendly. Cart girl makes it around multiple times during the round.
Good value
Nice course, not very challenging, but a great value. Would rate it higher but the pace of play was way too slow
Sir, we’re very sorry about the pace of play on the day you were there. There was a women’s tournament that unfortunately ended up playing a 6 hour round and we did our absolute best to speed them along. Please send an email to clubatbrookstone@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to provide you with a free round for 4 in the future. Additionally, the course was just coming out of dormancy and had just had a cold bit of weather when you were there. Things have really greened up now, which have drastically improved playing conditions. We have a fully staffed and full time maintenance crew whose hard work is showing now that everything has greened up. We hope to see you again soon!
