About
Designed by Clyde Johnston and popular PGA Tour star Fuzzy Zoeller, the Island West Golf Club is a course built around natural marshland and follows the landscape presenting a rolling, tree-lined course.
As one would imagine a course with Zoeller's fingerprints, Island West in Bluffton was built to be a fun, entertaining play, and has succeeded in its mission. Playing to 6,803 with a 129 slope rating from the tips, it's a solid test for the skillful yet playable for the not-so skillful.
Water comes in to play on 10 holes here, so the bold will have many risk-reward opportunities. Accuracy off the tee is a must on many of the tree-lined holes, yet other holes feature wide fairways. Island West is exactly the type of course you'd imagine Zoeller being a part of, but Johnston's expertise also shines through.

Beautiful course. Geared for long drivers.
Enjoyed the challenging and beautiful course. The only complaint is that the sprinklers were on while we're playing two holes. This made playing conditions difficult.
Fair yet challenging
I would come back. Great price. Some holes need work but all the greens are in good shape and fast .Took awhile to get the pace,the practice green is a lot slower so beware

the conditions have improved from the last time we played, especially the greens. because of the improved conditions the course is becoming a good value.

Good course that challged some
The course was well laid out. There were some challenges but a it was a good course for any average golfer. Well maintained. Friendly staff.

Good value golf - first time golfing in South Carolina
Course was well maintained. Greens were firm but receptive to approach shots. Good mix of challenge on the holes.
It was my first time playing but my partner had played four times previously.
The course was beautifull and challanging
.We enjoyed the challenge of the course as well as the wild life. Some improvement in the signage from hole to hole needs improvement. The course greens were especially challenging.

Desperately need course diagram on either cart sheet or score card. Did not know what course looked like from tee boxes.
Minimal staff in evidence lot of unfilled divots in fairways and pitch marks on greens
GREAT COURSE FOR THE MONEY
Great course located in Bluffton, SC off Hwy 278. Very little traffic on course. Some rough areas around green, but stay in the fairway and you'll have no problems. Greens were in great shape and scenery was beautiful. Friendly staff. I played 18 holes for $20. Deal of the day for me.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will certainly come back the next time we're in South Carolina!

Course was in great condition and the challenge of the blue tees was formidable. Found a really good price online for the round and was very satisfied by the overall experience.
great course for the value
Played this course as a break from one of the bigger Hilton Head courses while on vacation. Was really pleased with the course as a whole.

Some tee boxes and greens in disrepair. Traps had some to alot of water. Not a maintenance person to be see. Course not like I remember a few yrs ago

Great value when dry
Nice course but don't drain well. 2 inches of rain didn't help matters but other courses we played we're in better shape with the same conditions.
This course is Crescent Pointe's son
Smaller in many ways than Crescent Pointe it has a similar style. A bit narrower, a bit less designed but interesting and charming to play. We will return.l
Good Deal
Recent rains provoked "Cart path only" which made for a long day. Course was in great shape, fun, and challenging. Staff friendly and helpful. Glad I played.
