Rose Hill Golf Club
About
Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton is situated amongst plentiful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. There are also sparkling, crystal-clear lakes that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a part of Rose Hill Plantation, giving it a truly Southern look and feel. Most of the holes are flat and straightforward but there are a few tricky doglegs to keep the course interesting. The layout features formidable par 3s that will test even the best players and a notably difficult par 5 that measures just over 600 yards. The challenging holes are balanced with player-friendly features that make it versatile enough for a wide range of skill levels. Four sets of tees, the longest coming to just over 6,900 yards, make Rose Hill Golf Club even more accessible.

Still Needs TLC
We love the layout, challenge and playability of this course and the new owners are terrific, but the course still needs some TLC, with bare spots on some greens and fairways. The last time we played it, about a month ago, it was starting to look really great, but when we played it today, it had taken a step backward. We haven’t had a lot of rain, so maybe it’s that. We are rooting so hard for Rose Hill to succeed, and they have a beautiful new clubhouse opening in November, so we will keep coming and supporting them.
Poorly Maintained
Rose Hill has a very good layout but this course is in dire need of much love and attention. 30% of the greens are pretty much unplayable. I wouldn't recommend playing this course in its current condition unless you're more concerned with hitting shots and aren't concerned with scoring.
Improving
Course is a little rough. It has been improving each time I play. Keep up the good work!!
Can not say much good
The fairways on the front 9 were very poor the back nine was better but still below average. The greens were just terrible. They are working out of a trailer but a new clubhouse is supposed to open soon. The staff tried but nice people don’t help a terrible course. We played Shpyard on Monday and it was at least 300% better for only a couple of dollars more. I played here several years ago and they promised great improvement. Sorry it didn’t happen. There are many other courses a lot better so avoid this course.
Greens
Bunkers fantastic greens shot. need some maintenance. If you are under new management you would think that the greens and fairways would be a priority. Glad I only paid 25 dollars.
Horrible Course
This course is horrible. No amenities, very poor t boxes, no ball washers, no water on course, bathrooms deplorable, back nine greens worse we had all seen in 10 years. Worse than most 9 hole par 3 starter courses.
We should have walked off Rose Hill course after 5 holes and asked for money back.
Do not recommend at all. Much better courses as same prices within couple miles distance.
Sad...
Sad, is the only word I can think of to describe what is a very nice piece of golf real estate that has been virtually laid to waste by mismanagement.
The new magagement seems sure that they can put the course back in shape by next spring...that may be somewhat optimistic to say the least...I wish them well.
Time, and some real money, could make this a great course. The course has real potential but in its current state, well, play it, but don't be too critical. Keep in mind that the current state is not the fault of the new management.
Again a bad time
The club was having a tournament with a shot gun start. I was not a part of tournament. Dropped into program found slow play as i tried to jump past a t fellow chased me down to tell me he was a part of tournament and I
could not move past him. Very rude with his WVA cap and shirt. His foursome was extremely slow and refused to yield. Third time with rude people at this course....dont think I will play here again!
Must have been nice way back.
Could be a treasure if the course was totally renovated. Tee to green wild grass going everywhere. All of the greens were burned out with lots of sand everywhere. I enjoy the layout and the length fit my skill level.
Don’t play unless there’s a major overhaul.
Nice course that will get even better
Nice course with a few greens with some turf problems but you can see that all are being addressed and will be fine in time. New clubhouse being built and nice course layout. Friendly helpful staff. Nice round of golf.
Getting there
Course has improved since last year. BrownGolf really did a number on it. Hopefully within the next year the course will be able to compete with other courses in the area. Multiple greens were lacking grass and some fairways were not mowed and had large areas of weeds. Tee boxes were in good shape. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Course will continue to improve under their care.
Bad Course
Terrible conditions especially on back nine. Scabby greens, tee boxes poor condition, branches and debris on course.
Nice layout but poorly maintained.
MUCH better courses in immediate area. Waste of money to play at this course.
still improving
I played this course back in May 2018 and then again in early July 2018. The difference was quite substantial. The tee boxes and fairways are now very nice and a good portion of the greens are now in nice shape. Back in May the ball bounced to the hole on most greens, now they roll and stay true to the cup. There are a few greens on the back nine that are still less than ideal however they are slowly getting better and better. Hole #15 green is still struggling. #18 has some bad spots but overall from August of 2017, when it was unplayable, this course has made tremendous strides. The $35 green fee is a deal considering the course conditions. Management is continuing to improve the course and I suspect in another few months you will see this course on par with most others in the Bluffton area. They have new carts and a spanking new clubhouse come late November or early December. The staff is top notch. Other reviews that are trashing the course must be some type of personal vendetta as they are just not true.
The course was cart path only because of wet conditions on the day we played.
The back nine greens are still not in great shape and may still be recovering from previous year hurricane damage. (Sept 2017)
Staff was friendly.
Nice course bad shape
I was supprised to find the sand traps full of mud and water most of the greens were in bad shape. I played here a couple of years ago and it was better. Next year will try another course.
Rose hill
Some of the greens are burnt up or have a fungus .tee boxes and fairways were in good. Shape i got out early so none in front of me played 18 holes in 3hrs .
Much Improved
This golf course has come a long way. I remember it from years ago and it was usually wet and sloppy. The drainage is now perfect. A few greens were having problems and they were slow but I expect this this time of year here.
They are renovating the clubhouse.
I think it is the best value on Hilton Head right now.
Great golf now buy
Under 20 bucks.....
You wont find a better deal. Green are a tad long/slow.......otherwise great shape, layout, play, scenery!!!
