Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Challenging

The course is challenging, but a lot of fun. Numer 9 is one of the toughest par 3's. Cart paths in pretty bad shape.

Hard to Find

The signage to find the course was insufficient. Good thing we had GPS. The course was wet because of frequent rains. There were a lot of tricky lies which made it hard to play the first time. The first hole made me want to quit because of its layout. Things did get better with the last two holes going along the lake. Don't worry you slicers, it is on the left..

Bring Your SCUBA Gear

My wife and I arrived a bit late and they graciously bumped our tee time. The first hole is not friendly at all. After that things improved. It had rained for several days so the course was quite soggy. There is a lot of water on this course. Course is hard playing for the first time. The course is not a push over!

fairways and rough

Greens are in good condition. Bunkers were dry and in good condition. The fairways and rough have not grown in yet, very spotted and tight lies. Overall it's an interesting course.

It's alright

The greens were perfect. Bent grass was great. It was the fairways that just weren't pleasing. In the spring/summer time this course would be in perfect shape. Also, very long course and challenging.

Nice Bent Grass Greens

The Windermere Club has nice bent grass greens. The views are great from the patio overlooking number 18. They have a 45 day trial membership which is a great deal for golfers. I think that the front 9 is more difficult than the back 9 but over all very challenging .

Nice course for price

Couple of the greens on the backside were a little under-maintained but overall greens were in excellent condition. Rough was a little higher then expected. Fairways were fine. Front nine pretty short from white tees and back nine had couple long par fours. Overall a nice course for the price

This course was very disappointing.

After seeing the reviews and course rating, selected to play this course on Golfnow for an office outing. Boy, were we disappointed. Checking in, young man behind the counter was friendly and courteous. After my group all showed we hit the course and was amazed by the condition the course was in. Many areas needed mowing, to include some tee boxes, fairways were ok, but the greens were the biggest fail. It seemed no one repaired divots, there were literally holes in the greens from the flag stick. Several greens had brown, patch spots, and several could have used a cut. The pace we played was ok until a group of younger men, to include the young man that checked us in came onto the course at #11 while we were teeing off on #10. This caused the pace to slow drastically. They were very slow and inconsiderate. I've played many public courses in the area that were in much better condition for far less price. Will not play again!

First time at this course

Good for the price. The replay cost was low. Played alone, only passed one group and played 32 holes in 5.5 hrs. Beautiful hole layouts. Tee boxes need work and some patchy spots on a few greens. Great clubhouse. I will play again.

Great Course

I played this course on a Friday morning and finished my round in 3 hrs. It was fairly empty, fast pace of play and a very nice course layout. The greens were in good condition with a few dead spots here and there. Overall, a great experience and I'll definitely go back and play again.
