Located just outside of Columbia, The Windermere Club sits along the banks of the lake that it takes its name from. Pete Dye designed the golf course, crafting a number of memorable holes. It's his only design in the Midlands. No two holes are alike on this challenging layout, so expect to use every club in your bag. The golf course offers a variety of risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to both low and high handicappers. There are also five, and sometimes six, tee boxes on every hole, making the golf course even more appealing for any skill level. The fairways are generous but lined with mature hardwoods and there are strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Golfers at The Windemere Club will also encounter subtle but tricky elevation changes and several lakes and ponds.

Never Again

This course use to be a great place to play but it has fallen off of the radar for me. Greens are terrible with crab grass and dirt overtaking them. The tee boxes lack sufficient grass and the fairways and rough haven't been cut in a week. This course has a good layout but no upkeep. I will never be back.

Disappointed

It had been a few years since I had played here but loved it then. The layout is really nice but the conditions had gone from great to average at best. They have bent grass greens but crab grass is everywhere throughout every green which does hurt your putting. I really loved playing here years ago but will not go back in the near future. This was once an upscale club but times have changed. It is more like an average municipal course with country club prices. The staff was extremely friendly and nice. I just can't recommend it now based on the price vs the shape it is in.

Faded Glory

Windermere has always been one of my favorite golf courses to play, not anymore. I love the layout and especially loved the greens. Some where in the last year they have pretty much lost the greens. The fairways were the only part of the course that were up to what I thought were Windermere standards. The people in the club house were nice and the pace of play was good.

Could have been better

I love playing this course. I love the layout.

I played this course earlier this summer and everything was fantastic.

After how it has been i expected to see some spots on the green that were burned out. What i didn't expect to see is the green full of weeds. It definitely played a roll in putting. Hopefully they will get this fixed. I will give the course another shot in a few months to see what its like.

Still worth playing but the greens make it not a must play right now

Windermere golf course

The staff were extremely courtious and explained the layout quite well. This course has outstanding fairway grass, but some greens were about average. The layout is great, and the course has some extremely challenging setups. Highly recommended to any who wants a challenge.

Great track!

Beyond ZERO customer service from the guy in the clubhouse, and a five hour round on a busy Masters weekend, the golf course itself is worth playing again and again. The front nine sort of slowly warms you up, and then you get to the back nine and HELLO! They saved the best for last. I'd come back just to play that back nine and finishing holes again and again. Course was in superb shape, and due to the season, there were a ton of azaleas in full bloom that looked better then what they have at Augusta National (which I saw in person the next day to compare) . Both par 3's on the back require long carries over water, which is a lot of fun, and the finishing 18th hole is a spectacular par 5 with a lake running the entire length of the left side to finish at the picturesque clubhouse overlooking the lake. The greens were in fantastic shape (oh, if I could only putt). Definitely a great deal at $32. I'd definitely play it again on a non-Masters weekend for hopefully a better pace of play.

Needs TLC

This course could be a gem. Great Dye design. Beautiful water holes. Tight challenging fairways. Intriguing clubhouse. However, it needs a lot of TLC. This course has been lapped by its competitors both next door at Columbia Country Club and down the road at Cobblestone - which is the best course in the area.

This course could be a great play. However, it likely should merge with Columbia Country Club and have its club house replace the 1970s shack of theirs.

The reason I did not like the round other than the conditions was the design was just brash - lots of blind shots and without having played the course before, it was tough to discern doglegs due to the fairways and rough blending together.

I will likely give the track another chance. However, I'll wait for better reviews.

Greens were wonderful

Long time player first time reviewer.. Can't say enough about the course, greens were phenomenal (Jim Rome voice)! The course was a little soggy and was restricted to cart path only, also there was a five some on the back nine holding everyone up. It didn't stop me from lighting up the course.

Great Shape... Considering

Considering all the flooding we have had the course while waterlogged, played true and the greens were great given the pre-conceived notions. Pro shop staff a bit short but cart guys arriving and finishing were spot on and polite. Grill staff was very polite and helpful. Love this course and layout. Look forward to when it dries out.

Hard to Find

The signage to find the course was insufficient. Good thing we had GPS. The course was wet because of frequent rains. There were a lot of tricky lies which made it hard to play the first time. The first hole made me want to quit because of its layout. Things did get better with the last two holes going along the lake. Don't worry you slicers, it is on the left..

Bring Your SCUBA Gear

My wife and I arrived a bit late and they graciously bumped our tee time. The first hole is not friendly at all. After that things improved. It had rained for several days so the course was quite soggy. There is a lot of water on this course. Course is hard playing for the first time. The course is not a push over!

fairways and rough

Greens are in good condition. Bunkers were dry and in good condition. The fairways and rough have not grown in yet, very spotted and tight lies. Overall it's an interesting course.
