About

Holes 18
Type Public
Par 72
Length 6800 yards
Slope 122
Rating 71.9

Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Solid track!

First time playing here and my wife and I were impressed. A great variety of types of holes along with beautiful, rolling hills scenery. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good shape despite recents downpours. Play it!

Had a great time!

Had a great time. A few of the greens had some work being done on them. Not a huge deal to me. The rest of the course looked to be in good shape. My only complaint: the cart paths are as bad as I’ve ever seen. They really need work. Overall, we had a great time and would come back.

Great layout and fun, but those cart paths

The course was in pretty good condition except a few greens were burnt, however, the main fall back here is going to be the cart paths. I’ve never given feedback that said to fix your cart paths on a course because most of the time you can either avoid it or put up with it, but The Spur needs this ASAP. Probably not a surprise by the pro or super, but just know that it makes the course unbearable to an extent.

Very friendly staff, A+ ranger on the course. Friendly and welcoming.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. We have projects underway to recover the tee boxes, fairways, greens, and sandtraps.. We hope you'll bear with us through this transition and give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Northwoods Golf Course.

The course is pretty nice, but my only negative comment is that there needs to be more markers and the markers they do have should be more visible.

People of Color are Not Welcome

Staff has no respect for paying customers, and people of color. On Monday, we only had 2 in our group, from the starter to the maintenance crew; It was evident that people of color were not welcome at this course; to include stopping equipment when Whites were on the tee box and greens. When the maintenance staff was on the green, staff stop working to allow Whites to play through, but wouldn't do the same for Blacks (we had to wait 5 to 6 minutes). When the issue what's brought to the attention of the golf course manager, he made an excuse supporting the behavior of the staff by saying they needed to finish before the next large group/rush of golfers showed up.

I found this explanation to be unethical and unacceptable, after all, we were paid customers who deserved the same type of respect and dignity that the other customers did. We will never play this course again!

Never going back

I've tried to like this course but it's a waste of money and time. There are like 15 other courses in a 20 mile radius that would be better to play at.

-course is always water logged even if it hasnt rained for weeks

-pace of play isnt really that bad but the way they stack tee times makes it terrible. If you arent in a 4 some be ready to take about 3-4 extra minutes between each shot. Even if it's not busy

-staff doesn't care

-it's a nice layout but in terrible shape all year round, greens especially

-cart path is terrible

-most bunkers have rocks

I couldnt even finish my round the last two times I played there. I want to like it. It is the closest to my house. But it just seems to be a waste of money every time I go out there

The greens were recently dotted for aeration. So the putting surface had a lot to be desired. Overall, it was a good course. .

Sad

The course was in terrible shape. I’ve played many times before and it was a good experience. The greens were unkept. The course needs to serious facelift. Just a very bad experience over all.

Love the layout but greens are ROUGH

You cant get a better staff, I hope that with the warmer weather they are able to get the greens back. Although they recently replaced every green, it seems as though they still have the same problem as before... covered in fungus and mud spots.

Good course, bad staff.

Overall the Round was good. Pretty good crowd on the course, just couldn’t play fast enough. Had a foursome finish 18 in 3.5hrs and were rushed by the staff constantly, course rangers watching you Like hawks. Not a very fun time to say the least. Wouldn’t recommend this course unless you Like being rushed , told by course staff to hurry up, or just Like wasting your money. Nothing against the course, always loved the course, just disappointed with the constant stacked tee times. They want to make the money but don’t want to handle the crowd. Everyone we talked to on the course was exhausted of playing as fast as they could and still being asked to hurry up. Good luck out there, put on your track shoes.

Hello, Justin. Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time and will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Northwoods Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
