The Preserve at Verdae
About
The Preserve at Verdae sprawls across a lush landscape of rolling hills and meadows covered with beautiful Carolina forests. Formerly known as Verdae Greens, the golf course was completely revamped but one of the primary goals of the renovation was to find harmony between golf and nature. The carefully reworked course does just that, blending seamlessly into its scenic surroundings. Rambling brooks wander across the layout and provide water hazards on a few holes. The wind is also a major factor on this golf course. The breezes can be either light and refreshing or strong and blustery, making proper club selection even more important. The most photographed hole on the golf course is the par-3 second. If you're lucky enough to come when the azaleas are blooming, this hole offers a breathtaking setting.

Embassy Suites
We stayed at the adjacent hotel.. They had a tourney and closed the course. We had the second tee time and got to course right when the ended the tournament. Was disappointed that they would let our twosome to play on an empty course but made us wait 30 minutes for our tee time. The course mgmt imo needs work. We did enjoy the condition and design of the course. The round took almost 5 hours when it could have been less than 4 hours! No hurry to get back based on management!
Slowest Round Ever!
I bought tee time Hot Deal for 12:40. The pro shop called me a few days before and told me they needed to move tee time up to 12:20 which worked out OK. So we get there at 11:30 to putt and hit range balls. At 11:55 ranger tells us we are going off at 12 now, so had to leave "expensive" range balls ($10 for 25 balls) for someone else to hit. It then takes us 5 hours and 15 min to play, had to wait 5-10 min between each shot because of slow group in front of us, and no ranger to be seen all day to check pace of play. Would play the course during week, but never on weekend again. Seems like it was stacked pretty tight even with the slow group in front of us that wouldn't let us play through. Was expecting 4 hour round since just 3 of us, but turned into one of the longest rounds I ever played.
Fair but challenging
Really like the design. Not many easy holes. Seemed like about a third had a stream or lake crossing just in front of the green. Many were narrow with lots of trees to both sides. Greens had a lot of undulation. Several were under repair with new sod in damaged areas of the green.
Needs a marshall
Very disappointed in the pace of play. Especially for the price. No course marshal and four groups waiting on the same Tee box. Not acceptable. Did not complete round due to this backup.
Very challenging course
Lots of elevation and left to right slope changes, some greens are tricky (e.g. looks like it will break left but actually breaks right). Since it was March, the grass was just starting to grow again but still some winter kill in places. Fair number of bunkers and water hazards. Many dog legs. Will play again now that I have learned some of the nuances of the course and should score better next time.
Had a Great Time at the Preserve
The Preserve is a good course. It is in great shape. The staff is very friendly. The practice areas are very nice. A couple of the holes are a little longer than I like, but, by and large, it is fair. I look forward to playing it again.
Great course has some challenging holes. The greens were recently pinched so putting wasn’t that great.
The Preserve at Verdae is Worth a Visit
I was in town visiting from Seattle and was able to get out for a round on Sunday. I had a late afternoon tee time and it was cart part only so I was fighting the setting sun to get all 18 holes in. There was heavy rain the night before that made for some soggy patches around the course and a couple of the traps had standing water in them. Overall, the course was in good shape and the pace of play wasn't too bad. The course has some challenging holes (#3, 4, 9 and 13) that requires you to make some smart shots. In another month or two, the course will be in perfect playing conditions.
Fun course
Course was challenging yet fun. Would love to play it again in the spring or fall. Should be beautiful.
Playing verdae
I snagged a hot deal and was great value for Verdae. It was winter and recent snow storm so I expected rough conditions but greens and fairways played really good. Had a good round and will go back n
