The Preserve at Verdae

Booked on GolfNow. When I got to course it was closed. Cost me an hour drive to find that out. Definitely not a good look between GolfNow and The Club at Verdae.

Had a blast. Awesome course it may play a little slow but it's tough.

Perfect location, well rounded course, challenging greens. I hope this course stays around for a long time!

What a great design. Given the remnants of recent hurricanes I’d say the crew has done a phenomenal job getting the course in playable shape. Thank you

We enjoyed the round outside of the slow overall play (5 hour round). Layout is tight which slows down play. Particularly given late fall conditions were good aside from some Helene related washouts. Lots of doglegs and tight fairways requiring distance vs. accuracy tradeoffs

Great course for the money but pace is too slow and no Rangers to speed up pace. Tee off at 2 and could only play 13 holes which is pathetic... as I was visiting from out of town so couldn't talk to the staff for a raincheck. I wish I can get to play that full course maybe on my next trip.

Great conditions, greens rolling great thankfully not fast like normally, some tee boxes were moved for regrowing areas, friendly staff and well run operation as always. Thank you!

To play the back nine would have taken 3 hours, played the front twice. Staff needs to be forceful with slow players and require them to skip holes. Group in front of us was 3 holes behind and staff did nothing.

Has beautiful features, also makes it tough. Lost a lot of balls. The ruff is rough!

Great greens, very smooth and consistent. Speed was pleasantly quick and playable. Course layout is wonderful. Conditions are great. Grounds crew and pro shop do a phenomenal job. If the price fits in your budget, definitely recommend playing here at Verdae. Great course.

The greens are back to the usual standard of The Preserve!!! The grounds crew out here is phenomenal. They are putting in the work every day. Currently there are a few (3-4) greens that historically have problematic areas (likely due to shade and drainage issues) that the grounds crew has sanded the specific areas in an effort to improve them. However, they strategically placed the pins so the sand was not a factor (only small portions of the greens had sand on them). The holes had very crisp well cut edges. All bunkers seemed to have a consistent amount of sand (fortunately was able to avoid them, but my partners found themselves in quite a few).

Greens were incredibly smooth, consistent, and responsive (predictable amounts of “check” on chip and approach shots). Speed was consistent on all 18.

Tee boxes are level and good enough. Better than you will find at any other public course in the area.

Fairways are great.

Course layout is second to none when considering public courses in the Greenville Spartanburg area. Challenging golf course, lots of places to loose a golf ball (don’t go searching in the woods, lots of poison ivy). Where The Preserve stands out from other courses is the variety of tee boxes and USGA rated course ratings they offer. You can combo any two sets of tees they have. Blue tees are 6754 yards

White tees 6226

Combo blue/white is somewhere in the middle.

Gold is 5495 and the white/gold combo is a great challenge for any golfer not wanting to take on a 6200+yard white tee, but doesn’t want to play the golf tees the entire course. The White/Gold combo set is more challenging than most of the white tees at other courses in the area. Shout out to course management for taking the time to get a USGA rating on the combo tees.

For reference I play the 6754 yard blue tees and have a handicap anywhere in the 5.5-7 range depending on the month. Pretty much all the public courses in and around Greenville are in my usual rotation. If the tee time price at The Preserve is something you are willing to pay, do not hesitate. Great course. Definitely worth playing.
