The Preserve at Verdae

The course gets touted as quite a beauty queen but I consider the conditions to be average. It seems to flood badly judging by the high water mark. A couple of the bridges were woefull. The starter acted like he was doing us a favor by letting us play.

The course was in very good condition, however, the rough could be trimmed a bit. We lost some balls around the green .

Challenging and fun course layout. Regardless of what your average score is, you can feel good about yourself if you shoot a “better than average” score at the Preserve. Huge practice green, friendly pro shop staff and grounds crew, nice golf carts. Greens are below average compared to what they usually are at this course. Still better than most public courses in the area though. Definitely recommend playing the Preserve.

I don’t understand , great location, great layout, promoted next to hotel/convention center; absolutely failed in course condition and staff? Promoted on VA site, but what a disappointment , hopefully someone will read this and make an effort to make this a great experience !

The course is in great shape and the layout is tricky with all of the blind dog legs. The greens have plenty of undulation which can be fun, but this day many of the holes were cut on fall lines. 12 foot putts just to the right of the hole that broke 6 feet, and then when it missed rolled out another 5-10 feet. Being my first time I wasn't aware that you had to be below the hole on every shot.

Friendly, accommodating staff, good challenging layout. Some residual damage from previous flooding, otherwise well maintained. Definitely worth playing multiple times.

Due to the rain from the previous day some parts of the course were very sloppy and the greens were inconsistent. Otherwise, the course was in good condition and the young staff was friendly.

Phenomenal course layout. Always an enjoyable round. Greens are still trying to smooth out from a surface treatment last month. A few greens that always have troublesome spots are still….. having troubles. But the grounds crew does a great job of positioning pins so that a putt is never affected. Conditions are probably 85-90% total potential Overall great course. Definitely recommend. One of the best in the area. If the price is what you are willing to pay, do not hesitate to book the tee time. Best layout of any public course in Greenville

Greens are to slow, and bumpy. the grass needs to be kept cut short

I am new to the area so this was my first time playing this course. They have great practice area's to warm up before your round. I thought the course was well designed, challenging, yet fair with 5 sets of tee's to choose from. A couple of the greens appeared to be having problems, but it was obvious they were taking corrective measures. Looking forward to playing here again!

Fairways where generous greens even punched but pretty true and fast least a 9-10 on stimp meter all in all pretty challenging

Everything was in tip top shape except the greens.

Pro shop and management were extremely friendly and helpful. A few of the greens had some large spots where green had actually died and has to be re-sod, but those greens were big enough that pin was positioned in the good area and play was not affected.

Fairways were very good. A couple of bunkers had water in them, but they had a crew out working on bunkers, and nothing they can do about excess rain.

All in all, we had a very good time and thoroughly enjoyed playing the course. It has probably been 15-20 years since I had played this course, but my memories of it were good, and I was not disappointed this time around.

This course is in good shape and not bad to play. However, they have a lot of natural, wild areas so if you’re not hitting it straight, you can loose a lot of balls.
