Hyland Golf Club

Have played this course the last couple of years. Up grades being done. Greens were good and the bunkers were in good shape.

Will be interesting to see how the renovations

turn out.

Great staff and price to play this course. We were paired with a walker because I only had two in my group. I expected a four plus hour round but to my surprise, pace of play was great. Course was in good shape and the greens were rolling just right. Not too fast or slow.

Overall I would play the course again, but not over places like Talamore.

+Course is challenging with VERY challenging greens.

+Holes are unique and don’t feel repetitive.

+Layout makes you plan your shot placement

+Staff was very nice and accommodating.

-Course is under a lot of work in the fairways which can be expected in the winter, but it was a lot.

-Driving range was very limited on space with an “irons only” rule. Not ideal prior to a round of golf.

-Clubhouse is dated. No one expects super nice at this price point but it felt neglected, and stuck in the 90s.

Drove up and at first sight from the parking lot, thought I may have made a mistake. The clubhouse is slightly dated, and when pulling in there was no view of the course. Once I checked in I hit the putting green, was paired up with three local guys who were great, and then turned the corner to the first tee…and the course was awesome! Greens were firm and fast, but held approach shots. Fairways and tee boxes were very nice for this time of year. Plenty of nuances in design from hole to hole and different green shapes and undulations. Made it through 18 in right about 4 hours, and it was a fairly busy, beautiful day.

Would play here again in a heartbeat!!

Recently moved to Pinehurst and have not join club yet. Played hyland golf course. Shot my personal best score. Hardly anyone playing mid morning. The owner was very nice gave me tip on booking future rounds. Greens are as good as pinehurst greens. All are in great condition. Fairway turf 4/5 some bare spots but over solid. Bunker sand was thick but played well. Elevation changes were fun and a very nice track. I suggest use pee gravel on cart paths it’s the worst part of course. Otherwise look forward to playing again soon

While the greens were perfect- quick, true, stoppable, the rest of the course seems to be in a transition phase. Sections of fairway were great. I would say 50% of the area off the greens needs work for the $90 per round we paid. New sod in some areas appeared to be just laid out on top of the ground with no attempt to actually plant it in the earth ( no top soil on the edges at all. Staff was very friendly.

I can not say enough about how nice the people at this course were. From the people in the clubhouse to the starter I was treated very well. In addition, it is a fun course with unique holes. Highly recommend.

This course has a wonderful layout. Hidden gem. They are putting money into it to make it even better, but I hope it keeps the same local feel.

fast. Love this course, even more when I have the whole place to myself. Played alone and never waited on anyone. course in great shape.

The hardest hole (par 5) #12 they had sprinklers on so no roll. then you have to crush 3 wood

on a downhill slope across a large pond. I made it this time so no complaints! All in all a fantastic day.

New irrigation, lines surrounding fairways and greens, and also freshly aerated greens

The course has undergone a major upgrade as far as sprinkler/irrigation system is concerned, so there were many areas that had been affected and had not healed/recovered as far as turf growth. Greens had been aerated and were just sand greens. I was aware of both situations prior to booking due to reading previous reviews, just wasn't expecting it to be in quite as bad of shape as it actually was. They did provide a reduced greens fee which was very respectable and appreciated. I am hoping that with the proper maintenance the course will be in very good shape within the next few months.
