Don't go there, now
I love this course, but in the 10 years I have been playing it I have never seen it this bad. The greens are terrible. They are about to lose over half of them. Most are covered with a course sand with small rocks in the sand. Many of the greens have more dirt and sand that grass.
Let's hope things get fixed, it is a fun course to play, just not now. Way to expensive and in very bad shape
Nice course
Nice course with wide open fairways and beautiful scenery on the back nine with a more challenging layout on the back great course for the money.
The greens were very bumpy.
This course does not have much character except for the last three holes which are along the water. The course was not in good shape. The tee boxes were very rough. The bermuda greens were very bumpy. They probably need to be rolled. This course clearly does not have an adequate maintenance budget.
Would have been nice to have been warned about aeration.
Given all the rain we've had and the fact that the greens and fairways had been aerated, a fair rating is the best I could do. The staff was very friendly and they were working on the course to remove some of the water (pumping out sand traps). They had aerated the greens and some of the fairways so it would have been nice to have seen this on golfnow.
The course is very flat and has a pretty simple layout. There were a few tight holes on the back but overall the course was very open with wide fairways. The views from the course are very nice. You have views of the bridge, harbor and ocean from the course.
this course is well laid out
would like to have been told only 9 holes open before they billed me. even though 9 holes were open, the fairways on the 9 we played were in bad shape. greens were only fair. I will not be playing here again.
You can tell that this is a nice course and facility
The greens and fairways were aerated and only the front nine was open. No one in the pro shop mentioned this to us at any time until we practice putted on the putting green. They came out then and informed us the green was closed. No sign or anything to notify us. When we mentioned we did not know he said we should have checked the website......only at that point were we informed of back being closed and green aerification. Driving range was in excellent condition although a little pricey for 40 golf balls ($7). Outside of the at the moment condition, we will definitely return as you can tell this is a very nice facility with excellent views.
nine holes were closed
Had to play back nine twice. Course was not in good shape. Very disappointed in the course
Poor Condition
The course was way over booked. We had to wait on every hole for the group in front of us. At some holes there were two different groups waiting to tee off. The greens on this course were not maintained at all. They are very small and extremely fast. For the amount of money that this course cost to play was ridiculous. The whole course was not in even fair shape to say the least. The rough was so long that if you hit it in the rough you almost lost your ball every time. The staff wasnt friendly at all and just asked for our money and that was it. Very poor. Not worth the money. I wouldn't suggest this course to anyone and I will not be returning to this course ever again.
Two thumbs down for pace
The course was over booked. We quit after 9 holes and close to 3 hours later. The kicker is that we played on a Wednesday.
Nice course but struggling greens
I've played this course in much better shape, so I'll give it a pass this time. Challenging but fun and fair, the last 3 holes are gorgeous. The only reason I didn't give it flying colors is the greens. They are struggling, BAD! If we would have paid full price to play, I'd have been terribly upset. The most annoying thing was that the staff didn't notify us before teeing off. Not that we would have left, but it would have been nice to know. Overall, Patriot's Point is a great golf course. Give it a month or two and hopefully they'll have the greens straightened out.
Great course when greens (recently aerated) are in good condition and pace of play is reasonable.
Greens were recently aerated so they were a little rough, understandably. Overall a great course, however there were issues with pace of play (course was way overbooked). Tee time was 4:40 pm and by then there was no beer cart and no water in the water coolers. Had to call pro shop to get them re-filled. Also, pace of play was horribly slow. When we started the back nine there was a group of 6 young guys in front of us. After putting up with them goofing off and slowing the pace to a standstill I asked them if they got a special group rate, to which the guy replied a couple of them worked for the course and had them all out there. Unacceptable. Should have said something but didn't. We couldn't finish the course by dark because of this. Overall good but frustrating to have to deal with these issues.
Worst I have ever seen!!!
The greens were terrible. Customer service was awful. Worst round of golf ever!
Great features and amazing views
Very nice course and amazing views, especially at the end. The front nine played easier than the back nine. The only two complaints that I have for this course is that the greens need some attention and if you do not keep it in the fairway the first layer of rough is rather tall making it difficult to find your ball. Regardless of this I would definitely recommend this course and would come back.
Greens are terrible
The course had only 3 greens 16,17 and 18 that were in playing condition. They have absolutely lost their greens. To be fair I have played there before and all the greens were in good condition and there has been a recent flooding issue. I would advise you to call them before booking and inquire about the condition of the greens before booking it. Snack shop could use some attention as well. The food was about as bad as the greens. Range balls were expensive ( 7.00 dollars for forty balls). The view of the bay from holes 16 through 18 really makes a nice finish.
Awesome views of Charleston Harbor & great course conditions
There were many beautiful views to take in during the round. Overall, the course is in very good condition. There was a lot of rain during the week, but the course remained playable. It is a great value with unmatched views. I definitely would play again on our next visit to the Charleston area.
Great views of different Charleston Harbor Areas on almost every hole.
The course was in very good condition except that the greens were aerofide about ten days before we played. The course has everything a golfer would want. Good Views, Good Layout, Practice Areas.
Pretty Layout
Although the greens need some attention and they had just been punched and sanded, the layout is fun and the location on the Charleston Harbor is picturesque.
Post-aerating round. Not much to say about the green. Geat track overall.
Seeing this course the second time but the first time seeing the whole course. Love it. Wish the greens were in their normal shape, nonetheless, enjoy the track.
Great track to play except we went on the wrong day. Aerating day.
Wonderful views as we approaching the course. Excited to play; however, the clerk at counter forgot to tell us that only nine holes were open to play. We only to find out just before we tee off. Too late to get my money back. At the turn there were six deep in waiting. Gave up, going home. Manager Lee was nice enough to give us a coupon, which worth half the price we paid, for next time we come to play.
Top Dressed Greens - Only front Nine Open
The course has great views and I had heard about the wonderful 17th hole overlooking the Charleston harbor... However, I was informed the front nine greens had been top dressed and the back nine was closed to prepare for top dressing. Huge disapointment!
Obviously, having to play the front nine twice with top dressed greens was not worth the required fees.
