Top Dressed Greens - Only front Nine Open
The course has great views and I had heard about the wonderful 17th hole overlooking the Charleston harbor... However, I was informed the front nine greens had been top dressed and the back nine was closed to prepare for top dressing. Huge disapointment!
Obviously, having to play the front nine twice with top dressed greens was not worth the required fees.
Great Shape
Great Shape for a Muni! They were getting ready to punch the greens the next day so they cut them super short and fast!
Interesting course, nice location
Not an overly challenging track. Fairly flat, my guess is that the wind is it's biggest defense. Good location, with beautiful views of Charleston Harbor, including Fort Sumpter from quite a few holes. Friendly staff, a couse I'd recommend when in the Charleston area.
Terrible
Course wasn't bad, the greens need some attention. The staff was terrible and they had no control over what was going on at the tee boxes. There was no ranger or starter. I had a kid run on hit my ball into a marsh just because. I would never play here again and would never recommend it. When i told the staff about the issues, they could care less.
Greens were cut too low which made them dry in areas and made a four foot putt much harder to make. Other than the greens, watch out for fire ants.
7 out of 10 because of the greens and fire ants that needed attended to.
Average course
The greens were very fast and the crew said they had been rolled 14 times. I love fast greens and these were pretty fast. The course overall is just okay though. Not a demanding layout with the exception of the 17th hole which can be a beast depending on the wind. The pace of play was slow due to them keeping the carts on the path. I live less than 10 minutes from the course and I really wish someone would put some money and time into this place because it could be a great course. Not a good course for the money you pay.
Wont disappoint.
Starting with a Ranger at the 1st Tee ..and a constant beverage cart around ...it was a great course...Links type allowed for some errant shots without being instant shot losses...very forgiving and quite challenging all the back nine with the harbor winds..Maintained well and staff was on hand.
The best holes are at the end!
Beautiful course and an interesting layout with a nice 3 hole finish along the ocean. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to tee off early so we could finish before the pending tropical storm arrived.
Great Experience
Very fun layout that features a fair balance of challenging and more playable holes for the mid-handicapper. Greens were excellent as were fairways. Several tee boxes need some leveling. Played the back tees and wind made it pretty tough on the long par 4s. Holes 16-18 were scenic and memorable. Pace of play was ideal. Staff was great. Cart girl was persistent and friendly. Great experience and will go back if I'm ever in the area again.
Great course
This is a great course with great charleston views
Good pace and condition
The greens are coming in nicely and roll great. The course is in very good condition and the Golfnow price was reasonable. I played Rivertown last week for around the same price but their greens are %65 dead. Nematoads or not the price should reflect the condition and Patriots did.
nice layout, fairways and greens bumpy
nice SC course, just a little rough in places, lots of people
The back 9 has a great views of Charleston Harbor and river outlets.
For someone who doesn't get out to golf this course is right up my alley. The course is very well kept and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I also shot pretty well.
great value, good fun
This was my first time playing in Charleston area. Good intro to Charleston golf. The greens in good shape, a little wet from recent rains. Fairways were a little bumpy, but not bad for April. Good shots rewarded, bad shots penalized - a fair course. I booked one day ahead on GolfNow.com and paid $25 including cart - a steal! My score wasn't good, but that was my fault. My saving grace was being with a twosome who were regulars - like I had fore-caddies. My highlight was making par on # 17, the island green - made me want to play again sometime.
Beautiful views with only major complaint condition of fairways.
Enjoyable, relaxing experience and good value for money.
Great condition, great views
The course was in great condition and coupled with the views it made for an awesome day on the golf course. Staff was very friendly and would definitely play again.
Great course. Great greens!
Great condition of the greens on all 18 holes - but they are firm. Will go back to this course again tomorrow. Fun course. Great scenery.
Very nice course
The course was in pretty good condition for all of the rain the nite before.
Greens very goooo; nice design
Course layout was very nice with many views of the harbor. Several holes were tight but most were decent width. Greens were very good. Winter brown fairways were just 'okay'....would have been better if over seeded.
Great scenery, player friendly layout
Patriots Point is a decently maintained and fairly easy golf course in a terrific location on the Charleston harbor. It is a links style course that offers wide fairways and open entrances to most of the greens. The putting surfaces roll true and are pretty quick. The fairways and rough were dormant but there was still grass under the ball. Some of the tee boxes were uneven but they were overseeded and were healthy green.
The main reason to play here is for the wonderful views of the harbor, the bridge, Ft. Sumter, and even the city in some places.
