Scenic but sub par conditions
Pace of play was very good as was some nice scenic holes. That said conditions of cart paths, bunkers, and fairways suspect. Greens were ok but not great. In a pinch not a bad place to get a round in.
Very nice condition,
Greens were on the slow side but in great condition. I guess with the winds they can’t make them too fast. Course played long, not a lot of roll in the fairways. We were a twosome, teed off at 8:30 and didn’t wait much at all.
Some great views and we liked the layout a lot. We will definitely play it again.
Staff was very polite and accommodating.
Wide open-no shade
Nice wide open course but it’s brutally hot in the summer time. Watch out for alligators and make sure you’re hitting at the correct fairway! Bring lots of Gatorade and water.
Greens are coming in nicely
I read the reviews before this one and was hesitant, got a hot deal and went for it.
GLAD I DID! The greens are coming around nicely, still a few spots here and there that need to be addressed. But overall, they rolled much better than expected. Good track, water not in play as much as you might think.
Not impressed
Coming from NJ I was excited to play here.
Upon arrival staff is friendly and helpful.
Disappointed each whole does not have a sign telling you which hole you are at.
The grass on the fairways are in terrible condition. Never have I seen so many bumps and pot holes. The cart paths are terrible.
This course is poorly maintained or very little maintenance at all.
The greens are also in poor shape. Burn spots everywhere, missing grass and several cups are also in bad shape.
Poor condition
I played this course in the winter last year suspected the course conditions were just due to winter wasn’t too bad. Was very disappointed with course when we played Friday. The local course I pay $25-$30 has better conditions.
Best thing about course views on the back 9. Staff was friendly and professional.
Great course and views
The staff is awesome and treated us like royalty even though we were playing twilight. The course is challenging and the views are amazing.
First time experience
This course has potential to be very nice, love that lay out and location right by the water. Very professional and friendly staff all around. If I didn’t have a deal on GolfNow there is no way I’d play here at the normal rate. Course is way over priced. Needs a ton of work done, between greens, fairways, tee boxes and bunkers. Cart paths are all chewed up and the carts themselves need to be renovated. The seats show a ton of wear, but functionality is fine. This should be a $70 weekend rate type of course unless some serious work is done to better the course. Fun track overall but just not worth over $100.
Historical Setting
I see a lot of bad reviews and after playing course I felt compelled to give a contrary point of view. It was 38° and no one was one the course so I can’t really comment on pace of play.
The course fit my eye so I was pleased with that. The tee boxes were in great shape. The greens were soft and holding. They were tight and fast and rolling true. Green grass was multicolored but didn’t affect anything. The fairway grass was soft to hit off of. However, the fairways were so bumpy my neck could barely take riding on it. I,ve never seen anything like it and forgot to ask staff how the heck that happened. Cart paths are asphalt and not in great shape but smoother than the fairways. Looks like they have new bunker sand., which was super white and fluffy. The price is high, but I just figured that was because of location, which is sensational. Killer views of Charleston, Ft Sumpter, Ravenal Bridge, marshes and harbor. It is a typical muni course wide open with no trees. It was a little hard navigating the course because there are no hole signs, which I thought was kind of weird. Anyway, I loved the course and would play again when in Charleston. Staff was friendly.
Vision!
I played this course without any expectations or preconceived notions (as I always do).
The layout and design of the course is great. The views and atmosphere, top notch. The staff is incredible, hard working, friendly and knowledgeable.
The current condition of the course wasn’t great. Hard greens, underdeveloped fairways etc., The pace of play was well controlled. The price comparatively in its existing state, a bit high.
HOWEVER….this course will mature in the next few years into an absolute gem.
While the course wasn’t anything spectacular last week, I can’t wait to play the course again in 6 months, a year and beyond.
I am thrilled to have played this diamond in the rough
Cheers

The Course
The course is in terrible condition. The greens are patchy and rough, several fairways have large humps and the cart paths are crumbling apart. Very unsafe.
Recently golfed at Legends for $60 a round, but at Patriot’s they are charging $81-84 a round. Not worth the price! You can see the ocean from a variety of locations and not waste your money or time on this course.
Huge disappointment!
We live on a beautiful course in Okatie, SC, so we always try to keep our expectations in check when we visit other venues. That said, this is the only time that I've ever felt compelled to leave a negative review for any course. The quality and conditions of this course are worse than the cheapest municipal course that we've ever played. The greens were covered in bumps, divets, and patches of grass. There was only one green on the course that actually had a consistent surface. I can't even begin to describe the fairways. They were chopped up in most spots, had more mounds than a moguls course on a ski slope, and in general were clearly unkempt. Course restrooms? Two port-a-potties for use...Seriously, at nearly $90 per round. There is no signage to indicate what whole number that you're on, no ball washers, no trash cans. Groups seem to be schedule at 5 minute intervals, and we saw several groups of 5. The whole experience was bizarre,
Overpriced Tourist Trap in bad Condition
If you get the chance to play Patriots Point, pass and drive up the road to Charleston National. This course for the price is an absolute rip-off, it should be a $35 round. Practice range is closed often and at random. The staff here always acts like they are doing you a favor by being there. I've played this course half a dozen times in different seasons and the conditions are always bad. Greens are bad, tee boxes are worse, and there are very few fairways that aren't full of pothole and undulations. Rounds are always sloooow and there is no ranger. Wind is usually ripping if you are on the back 9 after 2pm. I live down the street and prefer to drive to ANY other course within an hour.
Rattled nuts
Other than the views of the harbor ( Not the ocean as the staff will have you believe) There are not many redeeming fetures on this course. The fairways have more bumps than a bombing course in Vietnam. I will say it was a day after a big rain and all the bunkers were filled with water but from what the locals tell us the bunkers are always like cement.
The cart paths look like a bad road in Pakistan...bring your camel. It’s the only safe way to go around.
Then there are the fire ants which are everywhere. Be careful.
This is a $30 course not a $75 course. If you have low standards this is your place. With a view.
