The course layout is OK
No problem with the course itself. On the scorecard it says let faster players play thru.. We were a twosome ( 2 males) playing behind 4 older females for 13 holes. They never motioned to let us play thru. The ranger came by and we told him of slow play, he didn't talk to them about the slow play or to let us play thru.

Like the course but the greens are in poor condition.
Very enjoyable
I’ve played this course before. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Course overall was in very good condition, just dry on several of the fairways.
Winter play
It's tough to maintain courses during the winter. The course has some challenging holes. Newberry has a problem with wet fairways - several very low spots where it puddles & stays wet.
Nice course
Tight layout and not very long but nice fairways and excellent greens. I booked my tee time using GolfNow and the pro shop didn't have any record of my booking. Didn't stop us from playing but we were backed up on the 1st tee box waiting on other players for 15 mins before we could go. I recommend calling the proshop to confirm your tee time after booking on GolfNow. I will definitely be going back.
This course has great features
My spouse and I particularly like this course because it has the super senior tees for over 70 and allows us to be more competitive. Would love to see them added to all holes on front 9 except par 3’s.
Fun course to play, challenging but fair
First time playing this course and it was well worth the 50-minute drive from Columbia. The course was super wet as it had rained hard all morning but despite that the course is clearly well maintained and is in pretty nice shape for the middle of what has been a wet winter. I am looking forward to playing again under normal conditions. Luckily, the rain stopped right as we started our round at 10:30 am and the sun came out like magic, which made for a really nice day. We had the whole course to ourselves for the most part, which allowed us to enjoy the quiet and play a nice relaxed round. It's not a long course and it can lull you into a false sense that it is going to be easy, but it is indeed challenging and fun. The greens were wet in some spots but in very good shape considering it is January. Again, I am looking forward to coming back and playing under better conditions. My son and enjoyed it and will be making the drive to play here again more often.

Enjoyed the course layout. I found it to be in good shape.
Always fun to play here.
Course is real good shape. A few bunkers were a little firm but playable. The greens rolled well. Always fun to play at Newberry.
Tournament Going on
They had a junior golf tournament on the course (pull carts plus parents following in powered carts) as we started as we followed behind the last group off of the 1st tee. We had to follow the group for the full 18 holes. They should have not allowed Golf Now to schedule players until 45 minutes to 1 hour after the last group left the 1st tee box.
Had to wait on 17 tee boxes, plus many many green shots.
