Hole 3 par 5 Photo submitted by Rick9857150 on 09/10/2013
Course has very good lay out and beautiful views.
The course is under a new construction now, new fairway. If it is done, it should be a beautiful course. The pace of play is very slow , may be over booking, and the slow players not seem to let the fast players play through.
Challenging, but fun
Being accustomed to flat courses in Florida, I found this course challenging but fun. A lot of uphill, downhill, above your feet, below your feet lies in tight fairways. Plus a number of blind shots over hills and around corners. A couple of holes are under construction. I bet this course is beautiful in the summer. Need a lot of shots in your bad to score well on this course. Will definitely play here again.
Not impressed
Layout is terrible, hills are fine but the fairways are ridiculously small and it was just a big mud pit. Will not be back
Mountain-Style Course
The course has a lot of potential and you can tell someone is putting time in to making it better. There are very few flat holes, you are either going uphill or down hill on most holes. This produces a lot of blind shots. It is definitely a course that you will score better on the more times you play it as you start to understand the layout. I would be interested to see the course during it's peak season instead of during a very wet winter.
Challenging terrain, very friendly staff
Played Heddles for first time and enjoyed the course very much. Probably wise to play with someone familiar as many holes you are hitting somewhat into the unknown. Many elevation changes made what you would think a 'short' course, play much longer. Course was wet, and a few holes were under repair, but you could see efforts were being made for improvements. In summation, had a great day and really enjoyed the course.
Just not that great
The course layout left a lot to be desired. Staff wasn’t all that kind. On one occasion they had carts all parked in the way and appeared agitated that we were trying to drive our carts down that cart path that they blocked. Hadn’t rained in a while but I had multiple balls get plugged in the fairway or close to the green. A group of 7 went off in front of us with 2 of them in the group being employees. Lots of beat up creeks that just take away from the course so much bc they are there for no rhyme or reason.
Improving all the time
Heddles has been under new ownership for a few months. They are making improvements to the course and I am enjoying all of the work they have done. The clubhouse could really use an update but that’s not a big deal to me. Friendly staff who ask your opinions on the course and share their plans for improvement. Never has a bad round there and will continue to go back.
Nice Course
Nice course and friendly staff. Only concern today was pace of play. 3 extremely slow groups backed up entire course. Added about an hour to the round
Elevation changes and a good value
Played 9 here for the first time. LOTS of elevation changes. Greens were solid(and tricky) along with tee boxes. Good routing but would be a tough walk with the hills.. Paid $20 for 9, and I think 18 was $25 in the afternoon. Course was pretty quiet on a beautiful Saturday afternoon which was kind of odd to me considering the quality and the price. Will try to play the back 9 the next time we are back in Spartanburg.
Slow but decent for price
Several 5somes of hackers. One group, all 5 hit two balls each into the water off #10 tee and didn’t let me as a single play through. Had to cut by them without asking and received dirty looks. Course in ok shape. Challenging and fair priced. Will play again but probably not on the weekend.
Great Course
Recommend this course to all. Great course, nice staff, and nice setting.
Challenging course
Nice course, but be prepared to hit good shots that you might not find the ball! It’s got slopes going every which way.
