Golfer Reviews
Cheap to Play
Was excited to play here with my adult son. We got backed up and behind schedule because of a group of 6 golfers playing a few holes ahead of us. Tgen our cart died so I called clubhouse and she put me on hold for 5 minutes. A guy showed up about 10 minutes later and had to reboot the system. Greens were not in good shape at all. Won’t play again.
Don't recommend
The course is very mediocre if you don't mind hitting a lot of your shots into way to many blind spots. Also if you have a cart plan on doing a lot of walking. For some reason our cart would just completely stop at random we would have to turn it off and back on just to get moving again. We couldn't even complete 18 holes because of it. Also the cart acceleration was awful. But on a good not the gps tracking in the cart was great because on multiple holes where you had to hit where you couldn't see (blind spots) it would let you know if another cart was close. But all in all I don't think I'll be going back and would not recommend.
A couple of nearly dead greens.
Some of the greens were nearly dead. Like the whole dang putting green. Not sure what they did. They might not come back this summer. #9 and another. Maybe a few more I was too drunk to remember, however they were severely damaged from lack of maintenance, or someone applying too much fertilizer, or the wrong chemical. Poa annua (a common weed) completely filling the fairways on every hole. Many tee boxes were mainly dirt. The employees were excellent, which is actually a big plus for me.
Worst Course in Upstate
I’ve played almost every course within 2 hes of Greenville and this is as bad as it gets. Don’t waste your time or money.
Everything about it was awful. I don’t know how they stay in business.
Worst course I have ever played
This course is a washed out gully. There are no fairways and no grass. Greens are as hard as concrete. They have no carts. I waited 35 minutes to get one coming in from a round. It broke down 5 holes in and so did some other peoples. I had to drive backwards for part of the day because the cart would not move forward. The cafe is closed. The cart path is broken up and there are chunks of asphalt scattered around the course. I don’t know how this place is in business or why anyone would play there.
Great mountain course
Course is in better condition than others for twice the price. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Lots of elevation changes and blind holes that force smart play not just grip a rip style. This is my go to home course even though it’s further away than others. No cart girls but the beer cooler at the turn is always ice cold.
This course is well designed
Really nice course, the cart has their built in GPS feature that I really liked. First time to the course and actually enjoyed the course. Loved the way the course is designed to the perfect difficulty level for beginners and for pros. Will visit again and would definitely recommend for first timers.
This course has greatly improved
If you haven’t played here in a while, I highly recommend playing it again. The condition of the course has greatly improved. It’s a fun and challenging layout that is an amazing value.
Very good value
Very good course layout and good value for the money. There was only one green in poor condition and not sure why
Last Minute Round
I played Palmetto Hills for the 2nd time yesterday and it did not change my opinion on the course much. The entire place has an old run down feel to it, and not much work is going on to take care of the golf course. This was a quick, last minute round, and this course is good for that bc it generally doesnt fill up (there is a reason it doesnt fill up). The girl in the pro shop was really nice, and they have newer carts with GPS which is probably the best thing about the course. The layout itself is interesting and at times maybe a little quirky. Very hilly with alot of elevation changes. The cart path would rattle your teeth and on 11 people had been driving up the fairway through the grass to avoid the huge potholes in the path. On a par 5 on the back a tree had fallen on the cart part during the hurricane and it still has not been removed. So everyone drove around it through the grass and mud. The greens all needed rolling at the very least. They were extremely slow and generally fuzzy. A few were in really rough shape. Holes 9 and 14 stand out as having really bad greens. It wasnt overly busy the day I played, but a 5 some played in front of me and did not allow me to play through, so the pace of play was terrible. All in all, if you need a last minute round and cant find anywhere else, or do not want to pay as much this place is good for that, otherwise, I would avoid. I will probably go back eventually, but it wont be soon.
Great course
This a great course for your money. I’ve played here many times with my father and friends and we always enjoy going. I love that the gps on the golf carts are back. Decently recommend
