Palmetto Hills Golf Club

Fairways were decent and most of the greens were ok but some of the greens were in rough shape. The golf cart was a joke. There were 2 groups of 6 players while we were there. I don't plan to go back.

Pretty good course. Got confused a couple times and a few of the greens weren’t in the best condition, but overall it was pretty good!

Under renovations with new owners… this course will be awesome in a season or two. They’re definitely doing good work on the course.

They have gone some good work on the course. It had gotten run down. But I was pleasantly surprised with bye improvement. They need to badly work on the ninth green, which looks bad, and is the first you see when you enter the course. All the other greens are much better.

Course was deplorable unplayable. Fairways were soaked and little or no grass to hit from. Had to keep moving the ball to find an area dry enough to hit from.

Left after nine holes. I would not recommend this course .

Much like many, I saw reviews and didn’t expect much especially the time of year it is. What I found was a very peaceful almost mountain feel of a course. Carts were new and had monitors, very nice. The course has constant elevation changes and that can present new challenges if you’re used to flat courses. Greens were very inconsistent speed wise. Some were smooth while a couple would bounce a bit.. But for the value I didn’t mind. Two greens that I can recall had bad spots but were minor and avoidable. Fairways were bare in spots but again, given the rain we’ve had and time of year, I expect as much. Pace of play was great even though it was cart path only. Layout keeps you engaged and punishes you for missing fairways. Follow the suggestions on the card and you’ll be fine. Accuracy off the tee is a must.

For the money it’s a course to play at least once to experience the layout. If the greens improve it would be a must play for the area.

I can tell this place has had some improvements and effort put into it recently. With a continuation of this effort, the layout can really shine more. Definitely will be back as conditions improve in the spring

Hit em around course. Good for beginners. Not well kept but I do enjoy it from time to time. Good if everyone else is booked.

This course has been really bad last few times I played a couple years ago. But under new management seems to be coming along. I would play again and excited to see what’s to come because i like the layout of course

Fairways conditions were poorr. Most Greens were OK. Coarse needs maintenance.

I’d heard only how bad the conditions were on this course. And reviews had backed that up… until the last couple months. Reviews were positive including one person who knew the course well and had said how awful it had been previously but how it was now much improved.

My impressions? Greens in the front were near perfect until the 9th green. It still has a long way to go. A couple greens on the back nine have some issues but nothing like 9. In general, greens are rolling nicely at about a 10. Quite a few courses I’ve played looked gorgeous but the greens were annoyingly slow. So the greens here are now some of the nicer ones in the area.

Tees and fairways are mowed well to proper height and are full. Very few bare spots. That said some of this grass both on tees and fairways are junk grasses but it was full and mowed, which at least makes it nice to play on. In time with proper continued care these junk grasses will fade and give way to the Bermuda.

So keep your eye on this one. Maybe they’ve hired the course manager from Legacy Pines which sadly closes today. I’ve played some 20 courses this summer and Legacy Pines had THE best grass tee to green that I’ve played this year. Sad to see it go but if this course continues to improve, it could be the next Legacy Pines and a real gem in Spartanburg and the Upstate.

Course is in significantly better shape compared to toe years ago. New ownership has definitely invested and made great improvements. Only 2 greens I felt like needed work. Fairways in great shape. A course you would once avoid I would add back to your rotation.

Not enough golf carts there to keep a correct tee time or go to that driving range.the cart we had brake lock so we used a rock under tire alot, leaf spinges bad making cart bottom out, steering was bad. Course is getting bad after playing here for 18 years this is the worsti have ever seen it. Letting 2 players play with on golf bag on a holiday, slow players and we done 9 and got to 10 it was so bad packed up one of our player's dropped out and went home . we jumped to #11, good choice to was no one in front of the group trying to get the ball over the lake. I won't be back till cart s are better and more of them, and a ranger to keep golfers pace.My view All courses need improvement but this one's is bad. Makes for a bad golf day.
