The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Rained Out
Course is in fair condition. Parts of some greens where lost this winter. We were rained out as we made the turn. The course is very enjoyable to play.
Difficult , but fair.
Waste of time. Quit after 9
Tees and course so dry couldn't put a tee in the ground. Greens were in awful shape
u000005998434,
We are terribly sorry to hear that your experience at Pine Forest was not up to par. Your feedback is important to us and we will consider it at all lengths. Thank you for the review.

Suppository car paths
Good layout. Car paths bad. Greens terrible, especially the front nine I may play it again if the greens get better.
u00000987636,
We are so sorry to hear that your experience didn't exceed your expectations. However, we hope that you do decide to come back and play another round, as we are constantly trying to improve our course conditions. Thank you for your feedback.

Good Game
Above average course. Good for the money. Had a league playing in front of me on Monday so a little slow. The greens are in rough condition. lot of mixed grasses and dirt areas in greens. lot of mounds on greens so putting is a challenge. If you like flat greens dont go. But reminds me a lot of Augusta National in presentation and beauty.
Hi glsullivan201,
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you liked the course and felt it was a good value. We hope you will come back to "Little Augusta" again.

Best around
Course was is great condition. fairways and greens were short and firm. When I'm down in Charleston this is a must play.
Hi Crzy50,
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad we are your must-play course! Hope to see you back soon.

Good layout and staff - but poor course conditions
We booked 18 holes with cart for a very low twilight price. While the staff were good, and the layout seems like it would be a solid course, the conditions of the course left us disappointed overall. Fairways and tee boxes were extremely baked dry...so dry we were breaking tees trying to get them into the ground. The greens were extremely patchy with putts going off-line and/or losing speed on more than half the greens due to the inconsistent rolls. I'd love to play it again if I knew it was going to be in decent shape, but even a low price isn't worth it when the greens are this rough.
Hi dreiersm,
Thank you for the great review. We are very sorry that you felt the conditions were not ideal. We hope you will come out again to give the course another shot.

High tees- Well placed water
The back side has lots of water, but well placed. Once you get past #10 , the ponds add beauty and don't eat "Titleists".
I really enjoyed the high tees. They made me feel like I could drive 380 yards.
Loved the course. Good value. I'll be back very soon.
Hi u434573292,
Thank you for the great review! We love to hear that you liked the high tees and you felt you can drive better.
We can not wait to have you back!

Great fairways
The fairways are in terrific shape. Fortune for the year the greens and the Teebox just need a little bit of work.
Hi hbbcoach,
Thank you for the great review! We are always grateful. We love to see locals on the course! We are glad you think the fairways are in great shape.
Hope to see you back soon!

Great Layout poor greens
I have always loved the course layout. If this golf course had just average greens I would play it all the time. The greens were so bad it just killed the round. What makes it worse is that the pro shop guy said that they don't look good but they roll great. WOW! Not even close. I would not send any of my friends to play it with greens in this condition.
Hi u000007416679,
Thank you for your feedback. We are very glad that you like the layout of the course. We are very sorry about the greens and that you did not think they rolled well.
We would love to see you come back out soon and experience the greens again.

Bring your A game
Tough but fair course. Some hidden water hazards, yardage book came in handy. Greens were a little bumpy but held their line if you putted firmly. Had a great time with my son. Shout out to Chip and Tim, whom we were paired with. Friendly pro shop, snack bar, and cart girl staff. Good value.
Hi John6815181,
Thank you for the awesome review! We love to hear you had a great time with your son and who we paired you with.

Challenging and enjoyable.
Clean, kempt, and attractive landscape. Played 18 holes yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Beautiful weather; albeit, strong winds made for an interesting time. This, coupled with the design of each hole--I'm thinking water hazards--provides for a fun challenge complementing the gorgeous weather. Thanks for a pleasurable time.
Hi WesIII,
Thank you for the great awesome. We love to hear you enjoyed yourself on the course.
Hope to see you back soon, and no need to thank us for a pleasurable time, but you are welcome!

Pine Forest
The summer grass has not come in so the fairways are not at their best. They have also punched the greens so they are rough and not true. Pine Firest is one of if not the hardest course in the Charleston area and in about two to three weeks I would expect it to be back to it's normal excellent condition. I am usually very happy to score 10 strokes above my handicap on this course. Be advised there is a lot of water and the greens are very hilly.
Hi Jbracewell,
Thank you for the great review! We are glad you love the course and find it challenging. We love to hear we are "one of the hardest"!
We hope to see you back soon for the summer grass.

enjoyable 18
Course is nice and we'll worth the price ($32). Some of the greens were not fully grown in.
Hi mike58golf,
Thank you for the review and feedback!! We are so glad you found the course and great value. We hope to see you soon!

nice layout
Make sure you ring a six-pack. I'm not talking about beer or abs, I'm talking golf balls. The layout is really challenging with lots of water, undulating fairways and tiered greens. The greens were very bumpy, but it was early March and the greens had not filled-in yet. Take special care to stay below the cup. I'm from PA and hooked-up with two locals and enjoyed the entire round. If you're in the Charleston area, take time to play this course.
Hi MurrayYork,
Thank you for the great feedback and GREAT advice. We are so glad you gave our course a shot while in the Charleston area!
We hope to see you back soon.

Bring your A game! It will be a long day if you don't drive it straight. Played from the blue tee's and made birdies and quads!

Nice course
I'm from the Philly area and was passing through on my way to Florida. I saw the good reviews online and decided to book a tee time. When I arrived it was nearly empty. Probably because the temp was in the low 40s, but to me it felt like spring considering back home it had been in the teens with winds making it feel like below zero! I pretty much had the course to myself. I saw other people playing but they were a couple of holes ahead of me. I could tell that the course during warmer months must be a gem; the fairways were all brown except the greens. Can't complain though since I don't get to play in Feb. too often, if at all, in the Philly area. The layout is pretty challenging with water hazards throughout much of the course. The greens are relatively small and most of them were very undulating and fairly quick. I would not recommend this place for beginners or high handicappers. I would love to come back someday and play this course when my A game is on.
Hi howitzer09,
Thank you for stopping by and playing with us on your way to FL! We love that you had a great time with us and the weather was great for you!
We can not wait for your next trip down south so you can play with us again!

Challenging! I classify it as a risk/reward type of couse...
Play safe shots without risks or challenge the course to improve your handicap.. We enjoy Pine Forest everytIme. Pin placements can add strokes to your game, ball placement is crucial in the fairways with big greens which is nice for those who are not so accurate with the irons. Everyone should play this course and share your game. I shot 87 and at some surrounding courses 77. Enjoy!!!
Hi robert4934571,

This course could be much better
Drove up and no one was at the bag drop. Parked, dropped bag and went in to pay. The lady was nice enough, but I had to pay about $5 more than GolfNow said I was supposed to pay. I opted for the round at 9:56am that was $13 more per golfer in our group of 3 than a 10:20 tee time, but when we got there they were on a frost delay and didn't tee off until after 10:30am anyway. A couple of guys 5 groups back were parked up at the t box and only after 2 groups asked the starter to go talk to them did he drive up there, talk to them briefly, and come back with them still sitting there. He said he went and told them they should go hit the driving range but they didn't want to...so he was just going to let them hover over the tee box while the next 5 groups went up until it was there turn. We were the next group up, so we pulled up and I made my opinion known to them that sitting there was pretty much a jerk move, and they acted confused for a minute then said something about their tee time was 10:18 and thought they were behind the 5 ladies in front of them. They then left and went to talk to the starter to clear things up. Either way, I had to do the starters job, or he was not clear with them. The course was on a frost delay, so that's going to come with some sogginess, but this was bad. There were plenty of spots where you had to half jump / tip toe to not slush in the mud. I would have done better wearing my bogs than my Nikes. The biggest water hazard was the fairway. No drink cart ever traveled the course. I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich at the turn and it was dry and tasted about a day old. I ate half and threw the rest away. The course design itself was actually good. The greens were challenging and misleading, but I like that stuff. It makes it more fun. If they took care of the fairways and greens better I would enjoy a course like this. The cart path is atrocious. Cracks, bumps, huge puddles, holes. Certainly not a comfy ride. The other 2 in my group drove cart #24 which the battery was dying on for the last 4 holes. It just looks like the ownership / management has given up on having a quality golf setting for customers.
Hi BuckCheetah,
We are very sorry for your experience with us. We never want a golfer to feel the way you did. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to change your mind.

I am an avid golfer and this rating and comment on the course is a little bias. Due to rainy conditions any course has wet areas in the fairways. I play Bull's Bay, Kiawah, Daniel's Island not to mention out state courses. Food, well, it's a golf course not a 5 star restaurant. Give it a chance newbies and form your own opinion.
Great course!
We were traveling home from SC and called....were able to stop in and play...for a GREAT rate....and really enjoyed it! Very friendly staff...course was wet, but hey, it had rained a lot a few days before! Would play here again without a doubt!
Hi SandiWagner24,
