The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Challenging! I classify it as a risk/reward type of couse...
Play safe shots without risks or challenge the course to improve your handicap.. We enjoy Pine Forest everytIme. Pin placements can add strokes to your game, ball placement is crucial in the fairways with big greens which is nice for those who are not so accurate with the irons. Everyone should play this course and share your game. I shot 87 and at some surrounding courses 77. Enjoy!!!
This course could be much better
Drove up and no one was at the bag drop. Parked, dropped bag and went in to pay. The lady was nice enough, but I had to pay about $5 more than GolfNow said I was supposed to pay. I opted for the round at 9:56am that was $13 more per golfer in our group of 3 than a 10:20 tee time, but when we got there they were on a frost delay and didn't tee off until after 10:30am anyway. A couple of guys 5 groups back were parked up at the t box and only after 2 groups asked the starter to go talk to them did he drive up there, talk to them briefly, and come back with them still sitting there. He said he went and told them they should go hit the driving range but they didn't want to...so he was just going to let them hover over the tee box while the next 5 groups went up until it was there turn. We were the next group up, so we pulled up and I made my opinion known to them that sitting there was pretty much a jerk move, and they acted confused for a minute then said something about their tee time was 10:18 and thought they were behind the 5 ladies in front of them. They then left and went to talk to the starter to clear things up. Either way, I had to do the starters job, or he was not clear with them. The course was on a frost delay, so that's going to come with some sogginess, but this was bad. There were plenty of spots where you had to half jump / tip toe to not slush in the mud. I would have done better wearing my bogs than my Nikes. The biggest water hazard was the fairway. No drink cart ever traveled the course. I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich at the turn and it was dry and tasted about a day old. I ate half and threw the rest away. The course design itself was actually good. The greens were challenging and misleading, but I like that stuff. It makes it more fun. If they took care of the fairways and greens better I would enjoy a course like this. The cart path is atrocious. Cracks, bumps, huge puddles, holes. Certainly not a comfy ride. The other 2 in my group drove cart #24 which the battery was dying on for the last 4 holes. It just looks like the ownership / management has given up on having a quality golf setting for customers.
Hi BuckCheetah,
We are very sorry for your experience with us. We never want a golfer to feel the way you did. We hope you will give us another chance in the future to change your mind.

I am an avid golfer and this rating and comment on the course is a little bias. Due to rainy conditions any course has wet areas in the fairways. I play Bull's Bay, Kiawah, Daniel's Island not to mention out state courses. Food, well, it's a golf course not a 5 star restaurant. Give it a chance newbies and form your own opinion.
Great course!
We were traveling home from SC and called....were able to stop in and play...for a GREAT rate....and really enjoyed it! Very friendly staff...course was wet, but hey, it had rained a lot a few days before! Would play here again without a doubt!
Hi SandiWagner24,
Thank you for stopping by on your way home! We are so glad our staff and course impressed you. We can not wait to have you back again.

nice course, challenging
I played in late Dec, was surprised how green the course was for that time of year, its obviously well maintained. When I played it was super wet, but granted its been a rainy couple of weeks. I'm not a very experienced player, but I will say I found the course very challenging. Not a ton of bunkers, but water is in play nearly every hole, and tons of undulations particularly near the greens which makes approach shots very difficult. Fairly long course too, almost 7,000 from the black tees. Pace of place was slow the day I played, I had to wait nearly every shot. But overall, fun course and quite nice. I'll definitely play again but hope to play when its drier.
Hi zuschlagzd,
Thank You for the great review and we are so glad you played with us in December.
We are so glad you found our course challenging! We are sorry about pace of play that day. We hope you will come back soon!

A Soggy Tract
Cart path only for play. Course was extremely wet. Greens were running fast despite all the water. Noticed many unrepaired ball marks on the greens. Lots of undulation around the elevated greens makes the approach shot challenging. This will be a great 18 holes when it dries out.
Hi marinebrewer,
Thank you for playing with us when we had a lot of rain. We are so glad you like the tract and will be back! See you soon!

Muddy greens are not consistent with huge slopes
Poor course condition lift clean and place should be in effect the greens are abnormally undulating I feel this is a very tough course to score on. The starter was a very nice 80 year old fellow and he had great sdvice. I have played many courses all over the US and this one is possibly the most sever as far as huge slopes on the greens
Hi Bart6448359, ,
Thank you for the review. We are sorry you felt the course was in poor condition. We hope you come back and we can show you how good our course actually is!

Pine Crest
Had a lovely time playing this well designed course, best weather, greens were moderately fast and difficult to read (my problem!). Only issue is that the course was still very wet in places. Otherwise very nice and great value for the $.
Hi pbeaurain,

Hope to see you back soon!

Great Course with Value
Much better than average course for exceptional price ($25 with cart this day), best deal in the Charleston area. Plenty of 3- rated courses charging more, worth the extra 10-15 minutes drive to get here. Easy checking in/out, staff was nice, electric cart, no complaints. 4+ rating seems right.
Hi cisetts,
Thank you for the great review! We are so glad you gave our course a chance and drove out here. We are so glad you think we are a great value.

Great Course
Enjoyed playing golf, it was a beautiful day and the course was in great condition! First time playing in South Carolina, so the grass was different than Indiana. Will play there again if in the area!
Hi donnais,

Great course!
We were on vacation and found this jewel of a course. This course has a challenging lay out with water hazards and sand bunkers on each hole. Tee boxes, fairways, greens all in excellent condition! Friendly people in pro shop. All in all great golf experience.
Hi uAQDX1159AQ,
We are so glad you played our course while on vacation and liked it so much!

Enjoyable
I enjoyed playing this course. Was told that water was in play on most holes. Was also told to bring extra balls. Only lost 1 ball in the water on 17th hole due to a miss hit. Will play it again when in the area.
Hi martinicat,
Thank you for coming to play with us while you were the in the area! We are so glad you didn't lose too many balls.
We can't wait to see you back next time you are in town.

Challenging course
It was m'y second visit. Realy appreciated it.
Should play it one more Time before the end of m'y vacation
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you back on the course soon!
Awesome Value
For how cheap a round is here, I don't see how anyone could write a bad review on this place. One of the best rounds I have ever played in the Lowcountry. Make sure you bring plenty of extra balls when you play here however, there is water around every turn even when you don't expect it. I will be back very often.
Extra balls are always available in the golf shop! Can't wait to see you back out on the course!
Good Value
This course is challenging but fair. The greens were average and the bunkers were inconsistent. The layout is great and makes you hit all types of shots. Water on every hole so bring extra golf balls. One of the better courses in the area.
Great value
Enjoyable course but on weekends it's a very slow pace
Thank you for the review. Hope to see you out on the course more often!
Good course, great value

Great course/Great people!
Only "complaint" that I have, and it really isn't a complaint, is that the course is tucked way back in a residential area, and is kind of hard to find. Once there, the course couldn't have been nicer! The people were very friendly, and the course conditions were great. We teed off at 8:04 a.m. and the greens were still wet with dew, and very slow. Throughout the day, the course sped up as it dried out, presenting quite a fun challenge. Some of the fairways were very forgiving, where others were bordered by water. Recommend using a g.p.s. if you have one, as some of the hazards are unseen until you're right up on them. Highly recommend this course to anyone.
Hi Adam2289997,
We are so glad you loved the course and the staff! We love that you liked the course so much! Thank you for recommending us.
We hope to see you soon!

A great value
Water, water everywhere! I played with a couple buddies when we were visiting from out of town and we certainly made a few donations to the countless water hazards that are seemingly on every hole. But the course layout was nice, the greens in excellent shape, and the setting was beautiful.
Hi natedogg04,
We are so glad you had a fun time with your buddies and played with us while on vacation.
