The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

I WANTED HARD
I got it. The weather was light rain all day, and this course ate me up. If you are getting better and want to be challenged by the hardest course in SC ...play this one. I made pars on 3 out of 4 par threes and on last 4 holes coming in. Cant wait to play on a nice hot day went greens are rolling, cause they are nasty!
Great Layout - Hidden water !!
First time playing the course. Loved the layout however there is hidden water on a number of holes. Not only hidden from the tee but also the approach shot. No yardage books available, no GPS on the carts. You only find out when you reach into you bag for another ball.
FANTASTIC LAYOUT...VERY SLOW GREENS
I just returned from our trip to Santee SC. I wanted to pass along some information about Pine Forest golf course.
THE GOOD
This course was beautiful. The layout was tremendous. Every hole was completely different from the next. There are tall pine trees and water on almost every hole. It was a superb design.
THE BAD
The greens were like putting on molasses. They were so slow. I asked when they were going to cut the greens and I was told that they were already cut. It was like putting on someones 5 day old beard. Putting was no fun at all. You could not stroke a putt. You had to blast it and hope that it stopped near the hole. It's a shame because it is one of the best layouts I have ever played.
Great course for the price
The course was in great shape and a very good value for the price, I just wish they would have given yardage books. Being a first time player of this course and not playing with someone who knew the layout, we had a hard time knowing where to hit it.
Good Value
The staff is always pleasant. It's a good challenging course. The condition of the course has improved immensely from last year. I will definitely recommend.
Great deal
Awesome bang for your buck. Greens were in good shape, on the slower side, but consistent. I thought the layout was fun. Good mix of tee boxes, played the tips, had some challenges with long par 5s.
Awesome!
Outstanding value and superb condition you want to see in a golf course. Very kid friendly. I'm visiting family and every time I come to Summerville I play Pine Forest. Can't say enough. Always a great golfing experience.
Tuesday morn.
Connected with others who were a great pair, good pace of play, no cart girl till the club house at the turn.
Great for a quick 18.
Enjoyed my round. Greens were slow but understand because of our resent weather. After playing # 9, there was a twosome who started on # 10. They did wavy me through but I just went to # 11. I will play again at Pine Forest.
Great course- Friendly staff
While visiting the Charleston area, we were able to play a few courses. While this course was very challenging, it was great fun! Thanks for the great day.
Had to look for myself
excellent Pro shop staff, helped with brief explanation of start area, carts, and club house.
Well maintained, you will need insight of course knowledge as there are blind holes.
Great time!
Good value, good pace for a challenging course.
Got off Foley Beach to play a very challenging course in the North Charleston area. I used the GolfNow app to get a 26% discount and a 9:08 am start time. I brought two inexperienced golfers with me but we were paired with a local player that helped us tremendously. Friendly staff, good pace of play, but breaking 90 on the first round will be a challenge even for good golfers. I am a 11 handicapper and shot a 93 but would have done better if we played a second round. I loved the challenge but the elevated bermuda greens with lots of slope made it difficult to get close for birdies and pars. The white 150 yard marker was helpful for tee shots, but a range finder would have been helpful on the water guarded par threes. The fairways were fairly wide and lush, but you would be penalized for shots in the rough with the thick 3 " bermuda grass. I loved the challenging 13th hole with the narrow green. Be prepared for long approach shots into greens. Overall a good golfing experience for the price for experienced golfers. Not really suited for the novice golfers.
played front nine only, got rained out
Awesome course,AWESOME staff, felt very welcome by all. Can't wait to get back and play all EIGHTEEN HOLES
Cart Paths are terrible
Course is tough, every green is elevated or across water. Lots of trees everywhere, hence, Pine Forest. The cart paths are just terrible, too many roots have pushed up the concrete. The rough is way to rough, I know that you are supposed to play in the fairway, but every once and awhile you get a ball in the nasty patch. Instant spine alignment when you run over the roots
Great Course
Nice layout with water on every hole but mostly avoidable. Greens a little bumpy due to recent (3 - 4 weeks) aerification but rolled well. Would play again the next time I'm in the area.
Pine forest
Great course for the money. Water on all 18. Large fairways and well kept greens.
This course is tough but fun
There is a ton of water and it is important to be good off the tee. Most greens are good size and you can hit the green in reg on most holes with decent wedge or high iron play.
greens in poor shape
fairways were okay but greens were in poor shape with many bare spots. its a long course so course management is a must!
Nice layout
The course is well laid out, and visually appealing. The greens held well and had interesting layout. The putting surface on some was the only thing that keeps this course from first rate status. Enjoyed the round and will definitely go back.
Nice Sunday After Round
Seemed as though the course was not being monitored. At least 20 people fishing and walking dogs on the course during play. A ranger was sorely needed. The course was in fair condition. Greens were not rolling very well but the rest of the course was in pretty decent condition. Once a hard 15 minute rain shower ran most people off of the course we blazed through the last 12 holes. Ready golf is so much better than groups of ball hawkers. I play this course regularly and will be back, but will definitely inquire about the status of the ranger before committing again.
