The Club at Pine Forest
About
The 18 semi-private holes at Pine Forest wind through the tall Summerville pines with numerous live oaks, dogwoods and a lake system thrown in for good measure. With an equal balance of straightaways, doglegs and elevation changes, this course is nicely balanced, with challenges and fun in store for golfers of all levels. Rental clubs and electric carts are available.
At 6,905 yards with a 138-slope rating, Pine Forest lives up to its name, as the course has numerous barriers of tall Summerville pines to cause problems for an errant shot. The Bob Spence design also makes use of water to add to the difficulty of some holes. It's a semi-private course, and they've named each hole, with No. 12 being known as "Little Augusta" while No. 15 is "Wastelands."

Cart Paths are terrible
Course is tough, every green is elevated or across water. Lots of trees everywhere, hence, Pine Forest. The cart paths are just terrible, too many roots have pushed up the concrete. The rough is way to rough, I know that you are supposed to play in the fairway, but every once and awhile you get a ball in the nasty patch. Instant spine alignment when you run over the roots
Great Course
Nice layout with water on every hole but mostly avoidable. Greens a little bumpy due to recent (3 - 4 weeks) aerification but rolled well. Would play again the next time I'm in the area.
Pine forest
Great course for the money. Water on all 18. Large fairways and well kept greens.
This course is tough but fun
There is a ton of water and it is important to be good off the tee. Most greens are good size and you can hit the green in reg on most holes with decent wedge or high iron play.
greens in poor shape
fairways were okay but greens were in poor shape with many bare spots. its a long course so course management is a must!
Nice layout
The course is well laid out, and visually appealing. The greens held well and had interesting layout. The putting surface on some was the only thing that keeps this course from first rate status. Enjoyed the round and will definitely go back.
Nice Sunday After Round
Seemed as though the course was not being monitored. At least 20 people fishing and walking dogs on the course during play. A ranger was sorely needed. The course was in fair condition. Greens were not rolling very well but the rest of the course was in pretty decent condition. Once a hard 15 minute rain shower ran most people off of the course we blazed through the last 12 holes. Ready golf is so much better than groups of ball hawkers. I play this course regularly and will be back, but will definitely inquire about the status of the ranger before committing again.
Favorite
I play this course often. Good prices are usually available. Course is challenging (mistakes will be marked with a splash) but an overall great layout. Course slightly tamer than a few years ago. Condition good except late June greens below average. Bunkers good condition. The fox squirrels add entertainment. Remote from Charleston, but a great value for Summerville and North area residents.
Great layout
Great layout, fairways great, greens very poor, Tee Boxes very poor,
Great course and great value
Loved the undulating greens. Tough, but fair. Would definitely play there when in the area..
Great course and price
I lived the course layout and greens were fun too. I will be back for sure. Only issue was pace of play it took over 5 hours to play 18. Other than that overall 5 stars
Good course
Good course with a few blind shots where you're not sure where the water line ends. A lot of water to the right and homes to the left.
Beautiful and challenging course
Challenging yet easy to play this course has holes that work both left and right into greens that test your short play. Greens vary from small, that require an accurate approach, to large and undulating that will test your putter play. This course is in great shape and I will be playing again.
Hot Deal
Found a great rate online for my first trip to this course. Very nice condition. Lots of water on nearly every hole. Long front nine. Definitely would play here again.
Great Course, especially for the cost
Very well maintained fairways. Be prepared to lose some balls if you've got an undisciplined driver, due to water in some inconvenient areas, especially on the front. I loved the course, and will hopefully be back. Greens were a little on the slow side, but well-maintained and beautiful.
just average course and below average condition
Good layout but conditions were not good. Fairways and rough were weedy and thin or no grass in many spots. Greens were just ok. They were slow but were pretty consistent. There is water on the right of almost all holes and you could not see the edges from most tee boxes. The price was reasonable for the conditions. There was a good crowd. Hopefully they will pub he money back in the course to improve the conditions.
Course is in great shape
I love everything about this course, challenging and very well maintained. Only beef is that around the same time just about every evening a group of 6-8 guys goes out and plays together very slowly and refuse to let anyone play through, even a single. Had another golfer mention to me that was the reason he won't join the course.
Worthy of its 2008 Charleston Area Golf Course of the Year
Pine Forest Golf course, a semi-private golf club, is part of a tennis golf course community with the course meandering through a housing community. The houses are tucked away in the pines making golf the priority! Good test of golf for all levels. From the tips the 6905 yd. course challenges the golfer for every shot. Even from the forward tees (4990 yds) every shot must be thought out. Course is well maintained. This course received the 2008 Charleston Area Golf Course of the Year and deserved its award .
FUN WITH SOME DIFFICULTY
GREENS HAVE REBOUNDED AND ARE COMING AROUND REALLY GOOD. I WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO BE AS QUICK AS THE SISTER COURSE -CROWFIELD. REALLY GREAT SENIOR RATES TO PLAY.
this course was great
had a great time the course was great. it was 90 degrees with a warm breeze just super.
