Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club
About
Beacon Ridge Golf and Country Club, a Gene Hamm design on rolling, wooded terrain, opened in 1989. This well-maintained course has bermudagrass fairways and bentgrass greens.
Perhaps what sets Beacon Ridge apart from a number of other courses in the Pinehurst area is its variety. Just about every hole has its own character. The greens are mostly large and sloped. You will find adequate room off the tee, but if you miss the fairway, you’ll end up in deep rough and pine trees and might not find your ball. Play conservative and keep your ball in play.

That younger brother...
... you know the one: born into an awesome family, not rich but not poor, educated thinkers who take joy in the simple pleasures of life.
This course is that boy. Great potential, but hasn't earned the right to appreciate hard work. A little scraggly with a odd sort of fashion. Can be very precise when need but has no qualms of going full yolo at the wink of an eye.
The best quality of this boy is his friendship. I will be hanging out with this course again.
Course manager needed
They've really let this course and facility go. Everything needs work and renovation. Hard to believe residents are not up in arms. Fairway look like cow pastures and the tennis courts resemble a skateboard park. They are in need of great repair. We feel for the staff... all three of them. It will be awhile before we schedule another tee time here unless the price comes down to match the course.
Nice Course.
I really like playing here. The greens fees are very reasonable, the layout is great, and the greens run true. The fairway and bunkers aren’t in peak condition, but for the price you can’t beat it.
Wonderful course design not matched by condition
I wish I could say otherwise, but I won't be playing here again until I learn that the course conditions have been significantly improved. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful. But they can't make up for the very sad condition of the grass. It is a terrific layout, worthy of fine care - I have no idea why it has come to be in such poor shape. I hope they're able to recover because it would be a great place to play, if....
Excellent layout rough around the edges
Under new management. Course has great potential and once was a great course. Is only somewhat challenging from senior tees, but a great challenge from longer tees. Lots of elevation changes. Can be physically demanding even with a cart.
Don’t play this course!!!
Horrible conditions. Even the clubhouse has weeds 2 feet tall around it. No sand in traps. Rocks & gravel in traps. No ranger. No visible staff anywhere. No food. Don’t wast your time, money, or clubs on this course.
A disappointment
Clubhouse surroundings make it look abandoned. Mr. Cook at check-in is extremely pleasant and helpful.
Entire course seems neglected and in need of fertilizer for what is not growing and a mower for what is growing.
Overall good course for the money
The layout is nice and very challenging. Conditions. Hold be improved, fairways and tee boxes are pretty bare. Greens are decent. Not crowed, but a couple groups playing like snails, one waved me thru and the other just keep plugging along, I finally drove around them and went to the next hole. Wish people would just have the courtesy to let you pass if they are going to play that slow. I played 5 holes to their 2 after I passed, and I wasn’t playing fast by any means.
Difficult but Fair Course Layout
Lots of elevation changes. Nice layout tee to green. Cart paths, like most sandhills courses, in poor condition. Offers a variety of challenges. Important to play from the appropriate tees. When greens are fast, a few have unfair slopes. On balance love the course.
The course layout is fine, but the conditions are atrocious. There is not a lot of maintenance going on here. I have played multiple courses in the Pinehurst area and this was the worst I have seen.
Really Nice!
The course was in good shape. The practice area was really fine also.
There is a new dogtrack in town and this one has my vote for worst course in the aera. After a year away I thought I'd see if they've made any improvements and the answer is nope absolutely not maybe in worst shape than when I played it last. Not worth the money go play something else. Sorry beacon ridge but your in a golf mecca and you need to know that your in dead last place of places I would play. Please fix it!!
Skip this course
Beacon Ridge is a nice layout course and in a beautiful community.
You will have at least a half dozen hard pan lies during your round
The cart paths even a Afgan goat would be ashamed of.
No sand in the traps. Ponds with almost no water.
No restaurant and owners are less than accommodating.
Spend your money elsewhere.
