Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club

About
Beacon Ridge Golf and Country Club, a Gene Hamm design on rolling, wooded terrain, opened in 1989. This well-maintained course has bermudagrass fairways and bentgrass greens.
Perhaps what sets Beacon Ridge apart from a number of other courses in the Pinehurst area is its variety. Just about every hole has its own character. The greens are mostly large and sloped. You will find adequate room off the tee, but if you miss the fairway, you’ll end up in deep rough and pine trees and might not find your ball. Play conservative and keep your ball in play.

Another elevated green at Beacon Ridge. Photo submitted by JasonDeeganGA on 12/27/2013
For the $- it's tough to beat
Great condition right now- absolutely love playing Beacon Ridge. No restaurant or bar- but you can grab some beers from a proshop cooler. As the Pinehurst area continues to raise prices to almost absurd levels- Beacon Ridge is a fair deal & one of the best values in NC! JP
Great Routing
Greens were fine. Fairly fast but not crazy fast. Fairways were in decent shape. Rough was rough. Cart paths need quite a bit repair. Catch this course on a deal and it’s worth your time.
Bad shape
Course is in rough shape every dry fairways tee boxes and greens in poor
Condition
Nice Value for Pinehurst/Spruce Pines/Sandhills Visitors
Do you really want to shell out $500 just to say you played at Pinehurst. A number of great courses in Spruce Pines and Sanford without pinching your pocketbook. Found the staff members are friendlier as well. Had a great time at Beacon Ridge. Found it to be a very nice challenge. Other than picking the hottest day of the year thus far to play a round there, it was a tremendous experience. I will definitely return.
Nice Layout But A Couple of Areas Need Inprovement
Overall, we enjoyed our day on the course. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was laid out well and was relatively forgiving. The cart paths need a good bit of work and the greens were not the most well groomed - some of the turf needed to be re-sodded or spot sprayed. The weeds that did exist on the greens were cut short, along with the green itself but didn’t allow for a nice putting surface.
Probably a great course years ago
Weeds growing on the green. This course was probably really great years ago but it has not been maintained. Plentiful sand in some bunkers and barely any in others. General conditions suggest that this course has not been taken care of correctly.
Nice layout and conditions. Slow Pace
Very nice layout. Enjoyed the elevation changes and course conditions very good for early spring. Played on a Monday morning and was in the middle of a senior league. Made for a slow round. Thankfully they only played 9 holes.
Nice course - Great conditions - slow pace
Very nice course located in a private development. Thought I was entering CIA headquarters getting through the front gate house. ID required for entry and a 10 minute wait in line with 8 cars in front of me.
The course is a nice layout in great condition for early spring. I picked a morning of a member senior league play. Thank goodness they only played 9 holes. Back nine was much better on pace of play. One group looked back at me as I approached the tee, despite an open hope in front of them they didn’t offer to let a single play through on a par 9. My impression was that they were irritated that an outsider was playing on their course.
Beside that I would play again. The pro shop attendant was super friendly.
Getting a facelift
This course is quickly becoming a great location for many reasons. Improving by leaps & bounds & should be considered if you haven't been there.
Love the Beac
If you want a flat & cookie cutter layout- play elsewhere!!! It's a treat to play with lots of variety & a great challenge with many elevated greens. I love the price/pace/layout.
Challenging with good variety
Excellent golf course. Fairways and greens in great condition. A lot of elevation changes. Fairways can be challenging as they can be narrow and frequently dogleg left/right. The course is working on the bunkers and tee boxes. Go an d enjoy this fun and scenic layout.
