The 18-hole Whispering Woods Golf Club in Whispering Pines, North Carolina is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dan & Ellis Maples, Whispering Woods Golf Club measures 6324 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 134 and a 70.8 USGA rating.
The semi-private course offers challenges to both the intermediate as well as the accomplished player. The course rambles over undulating terrain which is carefully maintained by the caring staff. The greens are known for their conditioning and the course is a favorite for annual returning golfers. This is a track with alot of character.

Enjoyed the Course
Very good place to play. Interesting layout, overall good condition with a great pace of play. 18 holes in less than 4 hours. Can’t play many courses where you can get around that fast. Greens were good. We really enjoy playing there. Nice restaurant on premises. For the price this is an awesome value. We will be back.
Hot Round of Golf
I enjoy most everything about this golf course and have played here on multiple occasions. However, there is NO water on the course, yet you are told you cannot bring a cooler. The temps were in the 90s and there was not a water cooler to be found.
Everything else about this golf course is fine, and I will continue to play here, BUT PLEASE have some refreshments on the course.
Unfriendly front desk and poor course conditions
Unfriendly front desk wouldn’t recommend to anyone if it cost $5 a round and fairways and greens are in bad condition
Go play
Fun little track with and twists and turns. Stay for a meal afterwards too won’t be disappointed
Best value in the Sandhills. High handicapper. Course in good condition. Staff very friendly. Love the Fillies and Colts restaurant/19th hole. Big Pittsburgh Steeler fans. Can’t wait to go back.
Staff Rude
The course is improved and a value at $38-$48 however the manager is rude and acted as if she is doing me a favor allowing us to play their course. We had a player cancel and she stated “we costed her money” and she told the group behind us they were late as they checked in 10 minutes prior to their tee time. I have played this course for 25 years and we will not be returning until the management changes.
Needs work
The greens were dead or dying on every hole. Several had fairway grass growing on the green disrupting putting dramatically.
Great Value
Had a couple bumpy greens with sod on the edges. Other than that I had a great time especially for the price. I’ll be back
Course Conditions
Course conditions were ok. Several greens were in less than moderate shape and a few tee boxes needed some growth.

I'm new to the game. Great course ! Will definitely go back!
Greens make the course
2 star rating is mostly because of poor greens. Strange sideways slope and did not roll true.
