The 18-hole Whispering Woods Golf Club in Whispering Pines, North Carolina is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dan & Ellis Maples, Whispering Woods Golf Club measures 6324 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 134 and a 70.8 USGA rating.
The semi-private course offers challenges to both the intermediate as well as the accomplished player. The course rambles over undulating terrain which is carefully maintained by the caring staff. The greens are known for their conditioning and the course is a favorite for annual returning golfers. This is a track with alot of character.

Greens where great. The staff was fabulous. Great value for your money
Greens are unplayable. Fairways need water and have many bare spots.
Awesome Outing Today
Took 2 friends and had a wonderful round of golf! Had lunch afterwards and the STAFF was incredible! Paula our attendant is top notch. The chefs in the kitchen are tremendous too because the food was exquisite.
Greens were very tough but looked great
Had a great time playing out here with family and friends. The greens looked good, but were very fast. So I'd like to come back out soon and take on the challenge again.
Pin positions have been challenging. Greens didn’t hold putts well.
Fun Course to Play
This course is a little rough around the edges. But, under new managements expect to see considerable improvements. The layout is excellent. Greens are very fast which makes it very difficult to putt with many severe slopes. Course is very dry from lack of rain and watering.
Slow going.
The course is nice with interesting challenges. There was a very slow foursome in front of us with no ranger to speed their pace. So, the round was 5+ hours. Normally it is just around 4 hours.

Course was in great shape. Pace of play was very slow. Group of five, and group before ahead of me. Needed a Ranger out there.

Pace was 4.5 hours. There was a fivesome in front of us. Front 9 was slow. Back nine it opened up. Greens were in good shape but not consistent in speed. I would play here again.
Whispering woods- Come a long way
Without question this place is awesome!@! Greens slicker & in much better condition than most of the high dollar clubs in town!!! We loved it & honestly couldn't believe the quality/quickness of the greens- it was one of those deals where you couldn't believe how good of a track you got for the price- cuddle to the Super- he's got them rolling FAST!!! Great deal!!!- JP
Great course
We caught this course on a great deal, the course was amazing for the price, greens were good, and fairways were good, not much grass in fairways this time of year and it was wet but bang for the buck i've not played better.
Very nice course for the price to play.
Good to see structural improvements being made to upgrade the course for a good day for us poor ole wannabes!
