Camarillo Springs Golf Course
About
Situated at the base of the Conejo Mountain, Camarillo Springs Golf Course was carefully carved from the mountain's towering rock formations but it gets its name from the scenic water features that can be found throughout. Naturally, water is the primary challenge on this course, coming into play on eleven holes. There are also long par 3s that will require a sharp iron game. The course offers a fair test of your skills but the elevation changes are modest and the player-friendly fairways are wide and forgiving, which make the course more accessible to beginners. The golf course has a memorable start with a par-4 second hole, which is a tricky dogleg left from an elevated tee that features one of the best views on the course. The consistently good course conditions and the affordable rates have garnered Camarillo Springs a strong following among local golfers.

Challenging but fair course for my Group.
This was my 3rd time playing this course. My group played from the white tees and that was plenty challenging for me, especially, in the breezy conditions today. The first part of the course winds back through some pretty scenic hills with natural landscape. After about 6 holes, there were residences on the perimeter of the course but, for me, the course layout is such that the homes are inconsequential- the generous fairways and mature trees make the homes hardly noticeable to me.
I read some of he other reviews and while it's true that the tee boxes and bunkers were not perfect, they were far from horrible and quite manageable, even for me. I thought that the greens were well kept and held the few approach shots I managed to pull off. Speed was quick but fair IMO.
The course has a nice sized putting green and small but adequate chipping green conveniently located between the clubhouse and 1st tee. The driving range has mats. Not sure if you can hit off grass. The "starter" let us go out earlier than our tee time and we never had to wait on another group or had the group behind us catch up. And this was on a Saturday starting at 12:15!
Camarillo Springs
Played the Blues (6386/70.8/127) in 4H, 15M as a 3some with Randy & O.C., 2 very nice guys to play with. The weather was breezy, clear and in the 70's. I booked a "Hot Deal" through GN, $25.49 after fees.
My 1st time here in almost 6 years. I had pretty much taken it out of my local rotation because of the subpar playing conditions. After reading numerous better than average reviews, thought I would give it a try, because I have always liked the layout.
The tees have good coverage, even a bit furry. However, they are at best average because many are humpbacked. I changed where I was teeing more times in this round that I can ever remember because of unlevel lies. Only a few had severe divot damage.
The fairways were decent, good coverage, few areas of severe divot damage.
The Kikuyu rough was fairly lush close to the fairway, just long enough to grab your club. Many areas 20 yards off the fairway they obviously had not been concentrating their water on, because it was thin or hardpan.
The traps looked really nice, well maintained. However, the 3 I was in all could use more sand, they were thin.
The greens look immaculate. However, as has been my experience here, these are bumpy even by poa annua standards. Fairly soft, they held irons great and putted medium fast.
The customer service in the Pro Shop was great, got me matched up and out quickly. Snackbar with good food, but no on course drink cart. Also no starter or Marshall.
Overall, the course conditions are decent and worth an occasional play, especially if you can get a deal.
Good course for the cost.
I've played every course from Camarillo to Ventura and this one is great! The mountains, wildlife and secluded surroundings make for a pleasant change from city courses. The cost is lower than most other courses during the morning prime time hours. Lots of room to practice and staff was friendly. The greens appeared a little patchy but we're really fast and challenging. The negatives were minor because I didn't hit into the sand trap but my partner did frequently. Some bunkers were rock hard! Including holes 11 (right next to the clubhouse) and most of them in the back 9. The wind picks up a little in the afternoon on holes 12 -18.
With a little work, this course could easily be one of the best. However, all in all, we had fun and enjoyed the experience. Thanks.
not worth the greens fee
decent layout, the course has major maintenance issues. the tee boxes grass was thicker than the rough, greens were so slow that i thought i was putting on shag carpeting, the bunkers were hard pan.
moorpark, and tierra rejada are far superior and similar in price w/ the golfnow discount.
Camarillo was in good shape
Greens were good and faiways were good. They alady seeded greens for spring early in March. It was nice to see water in the lakes from rain.
Nice Surprise!
I had heard that this course wasn't worth playing but I really liked it and want people to know that.
A PIECE OF HEAVEN
IT WAS A CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DAY.......NICE RATE OF PLAY.......GREENS ARE IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE
Greens
The greens were nice, but after that...It looked like someone had drove over the several holes in the rain with a golf cart. 2, 5, 10, 13, 14, 17. Hope the rain brings it back to a good playing condition, it needs it....But I played it as a 'practice' round. Playing single, hitting two - three balls at a time. Two guys ahead of me, another two 4-5 holes back. For the price, okay
Holiday golf
Went as a single and they got me out early and was done in 3 and a half hours.
Tee times
No staff at the course to keep tee times.
When you start late and tee times are not regulated your round is slow and no pace means your game suffers.
Overall good course
Greens are in great shape. Pace was nice for a Saturday. Lots of crabgrass has taken over fairways and first cut. Bunker placement makes for interesting play. Most of the water features are just damp stinky mudholes. Not blaming it on the course, just an FYI.The $19 dollar replay was nice too. Enjoyed myself.
needs maintenance
I've played this course in the past, it seems to bounce between good and poor condition. Right now, I'd say it's poor. The greens were in excellent condition, that's it though. The tee boxes didn't seem to be mowed for a long time, the areas around the fairways were bare and dusty. Overall it just seemed like there wasn't any payroll for maintenance.
Staff friendliness was non existent, the guy in the shop should just stay home if he's gonna be in such a bad nood.
Peaceful Round
We always try to be one of the first or earliest groups out. One, because we play fast. (And that's putting everything out.) And most importantly, you're not waiting on people who lack common golf etiquette.
This way we have the course pretty much to ourselves.
We were walking and a threesome caught up to us in carts and we offered them to play though and they declined to. Even with that we finished a shade under 4 hours. The greens are in great shape and the fairways are very friendly.
Fun track
The greens are always in great shape at this place ! During this drought i expect the fairways will be a bit hacked up, but they weren't to bad ..
Excellent Conditions
Played a great round in 3 hours as greens were in very good shape. Golfnow price was terrific
Terrible Course!
This is the worst course I have ever played. The driving range has matts that are beat to shreds, the golf carts are old and rickety and screech when you stop. You cannot tell the difference between the fairways and the rough, the course is mostly dirt. The grass around the greens is just dirt, so if you put the ball close to the green, you are most likely hitting off dirt. The sand traps were filled with dirty water, and it has not rained in at least 3 weeks to a month. There are huge dirt mounds all over the place. This course is a hackers paradise. I would recommend Tierra Rejada in Moorpark or Olivas Links in Ventura if you are a lower handicapper looking for a beautiful golf course to play. This course is an absolute disgrace to the game of golf.
Course was fun
Even though the course needs more maintenance it was fun to play. The greens were in great condition but the fairways have areas with little grass and the tee boxes need to be mowed lower. The rough is about the right height and thickness that makes it a challenge to get out of with an accurate shot.
This course is very unkempt
I will never go out of my way to play this course again. This course should no even be open.
Good shape
Course in good shape, doing maintenance on the dried up ponds which was distracting and shortened a par four into a three. Overall in good condition.
