Camarillo Springs Golf Course
About
Situated at the base of the Conejo Mountain, Camarillo Springs Golf Course was carefully carved from the mountain's towering rock formations but it gets its name from the scenic water features that can be found throughout. Naturally, water is the primary challenge on this course, coming into play on eleven holes. There are also long par 3s that will require a sharp iron game. The course offers a fair test of your skills but the elevation changes are modest and the player-friendly fairways are wide and forgiving, which make the course more accessible to beginners. The golf course has a memorable start with a par-4 second hole, which is a tricky dogleg left from an elevated tee that features one of the best views on the course. The consistently good course conditions and the affordable rates have garnered Camarillo Springs a strong following among local golfers.

Great layout with beautiful surroundings!
This is a hidden jewel. Better than your average muni.
Unbelievable views from every hole. Conditions aren't the greatest, but pace of play (3 1/2 hrs.) and price ($24) really made up for it.

You get what you pay for. Maybe needs time to grow
Played a Sunday 7am tee time. Cost around $50. Had rained heavily. Greens were in good condition. Fairways, not so good. A lot (7?) seem to have been reseeded (not laid with turf) and were trying to grow grass. Definitely a lift, clean, and place venue. Decent layout from the blues, not too easy. Longish par 3s. Will play again hopefully fairways will grow out.
If you are looking for manicured fairways not the place for you.
Poor tee time management
Need to manage tee times better and then have a Marshall be on top of what is happening on the course. There was a group of 4 regulars that was totally holdign up everyone behoind them, vut would not let anyone go ahead and the course management did nothing to resolve the issue.
Awful conditions, except the greens
I just don't understand some of these courses. Yes, I realize there has been a drought, but it doesn't seem to explain the overall conditions. There just seemed to be almost no upkeep, except on the greens. Those were pretty nice. Only reason to give it 2 stars for conditions. Most of the "fairways" were half dirt. But, there was grass in the rough. Wouldn't it make sense to focus on the fairways rather than the rough? Also, there was plenty of grass on the tee boxes. Too much in fact. It made teeing up anything but a driver somewhat difficult if you like to tee it low. I do think the layout is decent. It seemed like maybe they were doing some work, but really just looked like stakes put in the ground. I got a great deal on golfnow and still didn't think it was worth it. No beverage cart on the course. There are some really great views, I thought. Not good enough to get me to go back given the course conditions.
Typical Public Course
This is your average public course. Fairways took a beating and are in poor shape from harsh December weather. Greens were in above average condition. Course was not overcrowded and good value for the money
Landslide took its toll
Didn't know the Camarillo Springs landslide affected this course when I booked it. A par 4 and 5 are being played as par 3's due to the mud accumulation on the fairways. They've done an admirable job trying to save what they can and clearing away the mud and reseeding, but I'd stay away for about 6 months and let the course heal itself. Fairways were in poor condition even without the mud-a clear result from the drought. Par 3's are long.
Recovering from mud flows
Played 18 with my son and a friend. The staff were very friendly, and the greens were in great shape. The fairways were marginal, with the recent Cam Springs mud slides affecting a few holes. But at least they are busily cleaning and repairing the course. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to visiting this challenging course set against the awesome Cam Springs mountains sometime soon.
Puddles but Dry ponds?!
Muddy maintenance, puddles on cart path. But dry ponds?!
Staff was Awesome! It was 7am and it was great to have enthusiasm. I believe Gerry was his name in the pro shop.
Like many courses in SoCal if it's not 100% you will have more water here n less water there etc.
cam springs
Great value course. Would definitely recommend and will play again.
Just okay
The course was in about 2 out of 5 shape. The greens were way overgrown. There is almost no water left. Maybe one little lake. At some spots there was almost no grass at all. I was chipping off hard packed dirt. Many weeds too. The Clubhouse is not impressive. The bathrooms were decent at best. They did have water stations around the course (I like). Pace of play was horribly slow. I was waiting almost every hole. They should have a Marshall to remove people that should not be on a golf course. I doubt I would play here again for the price. Maybe if they went down to $15. You can play good courses for $25 around town.
Beautiful any day of the year!
This course is a great value. When we played in October, the greens were near perfect, better than ever seen before according to experienced golfers who played it over the years and this in spite of a severe drought! But you have to understand that due to it's perfect location, the weather is almost always perfect, cool, slight ocean breeze, 72 degrees and beautiful backdrop of the mountains. I've played pricier courses that were not as fun or in such a good condition. I'll be back!
Drought ravaged
Course is drying up.
Opportunity to replace their awful kikuyu with the salt resistant grass used at Buena. Also opportunity to dredge now dry ponds--should it ever rain again. The course is prone to flooding and deeper ponds would help. Maybe an alligator or two to eat the coots, should they return. ;-)
Golf range used to be a money maker. Now it is embarrassing.
Owner needs to spend, or fond a new one!
Nice course but needs some TLC
I have played here 7 times. The course/facility is old and shows its age. The practice mats are worn to the bone and need to be replaced. The fairways are not in that good of shape. The greens are usually in good shape but this time they were terrible. Looked like golfers were wearing metal spikes tearing up the greens and there were ball marks all over the greens. Most of the ponds are dried up too. It's more like a 35-40 dollar course. If you can get a deal it's worth the play. 50+ is to much for this course IMO. I'm sure our California drought has not helped this course. But it's still a place to go and smack around the feathery with your buddies.
The corse was in great shape
We had a great time, the exception was that the marshall allowed a foursome of slow players to have four foursome behind them to stand still waiting at the same hole for seven consecutive holes.
Greens are rolling great
It has one of the best greens I've seen this summer. Due to the water shortage and declining golf industry, at most courses conditions have generally deteriorated. It was a nice surprise to find that the greens were rolling so true and well. Would love to go back sooner than later.
Booked a great deal
I was able to book a smoking deal for the course and the day was nice little overcast. The only irritation was the fact that the groundskeeper followed me through three different holes, and he kept the motor running as I was playing.
The course is still green and the greens are in great shape.
Just OK.
The course conditions and the condition of the golf carts do not compare well with others in the area.
Great views, course in decent shape, and a challenge.
Great facility with the exception of the mats at the driving range. These mats should have been replaced a year ago. The course was in pretty good shape. You must keep the ball in the fairway on a lot of holes or you will find a new level of challenge.
Nice layout but very dry
I've played this course over several years. It's not particularly fancy but the staff is friendly and the layout is fun and just challenging enough. Unfortunately the drought here in SoCal is taking its toll. Many of the water hazards have dried up (not always a bad thing) and the fairways are a bit crispy. I should say that they have managed to keep the greens in good shape, which is remarkable considering the situation. This is still a decent course to play if you're looking for a change. Some good deals on GolfNow once in awhile.

I play this course every few weeks. It's never 'great' re maintenance, but mud slides have affected it- 2 or 3 holes primarily. Enough damage that the par 5 playing at a par 3 won't be ready for several weeks....and a couple other holes have landing areas off tee that can end in mud.
Still, decent course, spectacular view of the mountain (from up close on many holes) and worth playing if you watch for their (now more frequent) discounted tee times.
